Update from the Campus Principal

Dear Parents,

I would like to begin by thanking Darcy Stead and the Wellbeing Team for the breakfast they provided last week. It was a wonderful way to start the day and a well‑deserved treat for all students, who have been working hard to meet the SLT goals within the Learning Centre.

As we approach the end of term, secondary students have several assessments coming up. Students are reminded to plan their time carefully, as a number of assessments fall on the same day as our Athletics Carnival in Griffith. Because we will be away for the day, students will not have the opportunity to submit work on that date.

Our Year 12 students have their exam week in Week 10 and have been preparing diligently. They have been meeting with their teachers to set subject goals, and they will also meet with me to review their ATAR goals. Together, we will look at their current score predictions and compare them with last year’s results using the ATAR calculator to see how they are progressing toward their personal goals.

Thank you and have a lovely weekend.

Fun with Mathematics!

This week, Primary students have been learning about 3D objects and the mathematical language used to describe them.

After exploring a variety of objects and identifying their faces, vertices, and edges, students were challenged to create their own 3D shapes using clay. It was fascinating to observe the different ways students approached the task, how they shaped their objects, the tools they chose, and the strategies they used to achieve their final design. This hands‑on activity not only deepened their understanding of geometric features but also allowed them to be creative, problem‑solve, and have fun while learning.

Look at Primary exploring 3D objects!

We began by building our own 3D shapes, then challenged ourselves to sketch them from different perspectives. This activity proved quite tricky for many students at first, but through perseverance and a growth‑mindset approach, they were able to climb their way out of the learning pit and experience real success.

Well done, Primary! Your determination and willingness to try something new were fantastic to see.

A big thank you to Mr Urquhart for spending time with us this week

It was incredibly interesting to hear the tale of Queenie, the elephant cared for by Myrah and Granville’s Great, Great Grandfather. Students were captivated as they explored original newspaper articles from that time and read the storybook about Queenie’s life.

This special session brought history to life in such a meaningful way, connecting past and present through family stories, real artefacts, and a truly fascinating part of Australia’s history.

Primary Swimming

Primary students are currently participating in swimming lessons as part of their HPE program, building water confidence, swimming skills, and water safety while enjoying their time in the pool.

Primary students really enjoy their weekly choir sessions.

These sessions are always filled with enthusiasm, teamwork, and beautiful singing as students grow in confidence and develop their musical skills together.

Food Technology

Year 7

Year 7 students have been learning about the evolution of Focaccia bread through history and cultures. In practical lessons students developed their own Focaccia Art using herbs and vegetables. Not only did the Focaccia look amazing, it also tasted delicious!

Year 8

Students have started a new unit of work: " Feast! Let's fight food wastage!" and are putting into action all of our health and safety practices and exploring how we can use commonly wasted ingredients. In the first practical we made Spaghetti Bolognaise and used left over ingredients in the fridge to include in the recipe.

Year 10 Wirraminna Excursion

Last week, Year 10 students from Albury and Wagga visited Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre at Burrumbuttock to undertake fieldwork for their Geography assignment on Environmental Change and Management.

This assignment requires students to identify an environmental challenge at a specific location, collect their own primary data, and write a field report that includes suggestions for managing the issue. Students also recorded site observations and completed a field sketch as additional evidence.

All students enjoyed the opportunity to get out of the classroom and apply their learning in the field. We also received many positive comments from Mrs Frankenberg, who guided us on the day. She praised our students for their politeness, positive attitude and enthusiasm. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Urquhart, and Mrs Samuel, for supporting our students and helping to make it a fantastic excursion.

The webinar in mandatory viewing for OSG Bus Drivers https://oneschoolglobal.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_rshnUQXiRZ-nNzUhWyE7kQ

Strengthening safety across our global bus network - global webinar screening next Tuesday

Next Tuesday, OneSchool Global will launch Precious Cargo, a new global safety campaign for all volunteer bus drivers across our school. This campaign centres on a powerful safety film that highlights the real risks our drivers face every day - fatigue, distractions, speed, seatbelts, and substances. The film will be screened via a global webinar at 7.30pm local time.

The film is confronting by design and reinforces the non‑negotiable expectations we hold for every driver, in every region. You can watch a preview of the film here.

We encourage all households to register for this important global webinar screening at 7:30pm Tuesday 24 March.

The webinar is mandatory viewing for all OSG bus drivers.

Wellbeing Breakfast

The wellbeing breakfast was an SLT initiative that aimed to improve student moral, give students a boost for the day, and improve campus culture. The warm, filling food with ice coffee was much appreciated by staff and students, with Ngaire's quiche being a hit. Students said that it put them in a good mood, it energised and motivated them, and that they were able to focus better in lessons. The social time allowed the students to let of some steam before the lessons, leading to a calm and productive day. Thanks to all of the Wellbeing Team members; Ngaire, Wynsor, Demi, Amalie, Caitlin, Mr Mooney and Ms Hallam.
