Dear Parents,

The term is progressing well, and students have settled positively into their routines and learning.

Today, students in Years 7 to 11 participated in the AI Unlocked Day. I would like to congratulate all students on their involvement and engagement throughout the day. I had the opportunity to work with our Year 11 students and was particularly impressed by their thoughtful responses, reflective approach, and maturity when discussing the concepts and learning activities presented.

Next week, students will participate in the second round of MAP Testing. The Student Leadership Team (SLT) has spoken with students about the importance of putting forward their best effort and using this opportunity to demonstrate their growth and progress. We encourage all students to approach the testing with a positive mindset and strive to achieve their personal best.

Our Year 12 students will also commence their HSC Trial Examinations next week. This is a significant milestone in their HSC journey, and we wish them every success as they prepare for and complete these important assessments. Their hard work and commitment throughout the year have been admirable, and we are confident they will approach the trials with determination and resilience.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Parent Engagement Session last Tuesday. It was wonderful to see so many parents join the call. We greatly value the partnership between home and school and appreciate your ongoing support.

Book week this year is being held at OSG in Week 6 to Term 3.

At Wagga campus we will hold our Book Week Assembly and Parade on Tuesday August in the morning assembly

It's wonderful to see students bringing their ideas to life through this project. Their creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration have been impressive, especially given their age.

Students have been working hard on designing and building their automata prototypes. The innovative thinking, perseverance, and teamwork on display throughout the process have been amazing to observe.

Now that the prototype phase is complete, each group has successfully created a working automata. Caitlyn and Granville designed a bee that buzzes around collecting magnified pollen, while Oscar, Carson, and Laice created an automata showing a bee stinging a toe. It has been fantastic to see students apply their understanding of mechanisms and movement to bring their ideas to life.

With their prototypes finished, students will now move on to designing and creating their own individual automata. Using the knowledge, skills, and confidence developed throughout the prototype design process, they are well prepared to take on the challenge of independently planning, building, and refining their own unique creations. We are excited to see where their imagination and engineering skills take them next!

A Special Visit from Flat Stanley and Flat Stacey!

Flat Stanley and Flat Stacey visited the Wagga Wagga Campus after the school holidays and helped us kick off Term 3 in a fun and exciting way. They were a wonderful surprise and quickly became part of our class community!

During their visit, they joined us on the playground and took part in a game of Last to Leave the Circle , which they thoroughly enjoyed. They also came along to sport, where Flat Stacey proved to be quite the cricketer, much to Flat Stanley's surprise!

They shared some delicious and healthy lunches with us, including wraps and sandwiches, and worked alongside us as we built and tested cams in preparation for creating automata. Flat Stanley and Flat Stacey also refined their typing skills, increasing their words per minute and showing great perseverance.

They especially enjoyed learning about our exciting Bee Assignment, particularly when we explored life cycles and investigated our darkling beetles. Art lessons were another highlight, with plenty of creativity, fun, and a little bit of mess involved!

In Mathematics, they helped us work with number lines and eagerly joined in when we built structures using marshmallows and toothpicks. In fact, we think they may have eaten more marshmallows than they used for building!

We have loved having Flat Stanley and Flat Stacey as part of our class. They brought lots of smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm to our learning. We will miss them dearly and wish them all the very best on the next stage of their travels!

This term, we have been investigating the life cycles of various animals. To extend this learning, Oscar brought some mealworms into class. He confidently took on the role of teacher, explaining the different stages of the mealworm life cycle and sharing his knowledge with his classmates.

Students were then able to observe the mealworms up close and see the life cycle in real life. It was a fascinating presentation, and the opportunity to physically see and touch the organisms brought our learning to life. Oscar did a wonderful job engaging his peers and helping everyone develop a deeper understanding of animal life cycles.

Another day, another life cycle investigation! This week, we turned our attention to the fascinating life cycle of the stag beetle. Students observed each stage closely and discussed the incredible changes these insects undergo as they grow. While some students were captivated by our creepy-crawly visitors and eager to learn more, others kept a very safe distance! Regardless of their feelings about beetles, everyone engaged thoughtfully in the learning and gained a deeper understanding of how living things develop and change over time.

Year 7 students Claire, Demi, Amarlie, Jace, and Austin have enthusiastically begun their new Robotics unit, exploring the exciting world of robotics and engineering.

Students started by learning that robots are much more than a collection of motors, sensors, and parts. They discovered that robots are intelligent machines that can be programmed to move, respond to their environment, and complete specific tasks. From assisting people in everyday life to exploring areas that are difficult for humans to reach, robots are playing an increasingly important role in modern society.

Claire, Demi, and Amarlie carefully follow the build instructions as they assemble their VEX IQ BaseBot.

To begin the unit, students worked together to build their very own BaseBot . Throughout the construction process, Claire, Demi, Amarlie, Jace, and Austin demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills as they carefully followed instructions, assembled components, and supported one another when challenges arose.

The robotics workspace was filled with excitement as students successfully completed each stage of the build and watched their robots begin to take shape. Constructing the BaseBot provided a practical introduction to robotics and engineering while helping students develop valuable skills in critical thinking, perseverance, collaboration, and attention to detail.

As students progressed through the build, they became more confident in identifying parts, interpreting construction diagrams, and solving technical challenges. The hands-on nature of the project encouraged students to think like engineers while developing resilience when tasks did not go to plan on the first attempt.

The Year 7 robotics team works diligently to complete their ClawBot before moving on to programming challenges.

This is only the beginning of their robotics journey. In the coming weeks, students will learn how to program their ClawBots, use sensors to interact with their surroundings, and take on a range of engaging robotic challenges that will test their creativity and technical skills.

A pleasing aspect of the double Practical lesson was the collaboration between the boys from Condobolin and Wagga, when some of the students encountered problems the two campuses came together and worked them out. This was a good demonstration of the learning pit in action.

We look forward to seeing the innovative ideas and solutions that Claire, Demi, Amarlie, Jace, and Austin develop as they continue their robotics adventure throughout the term.

As part of the Preliminary Design and Technology course, students are designing and producing a clock for an identified target market.

An important part of the design process is experimenting with different tools, materials and production techniques. Last week, students focused on consolidating the practical skills they will need to manufacture their individual clock designs.

The accompanying photographs were taken by the students and capture some of the experimentation and skill development taking place in the workshop.

We are pleased to welcome our newly structured Campus Support Team . This dedicated team will work collaboratively to support students, staff, and families, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment across our campus. Their diverse skills and shared commitment to student wellbeing, learning success, and operational excellence will play an important role in strengthening the support available to our school community.

We are pleased to share with parents and families, the launch of OSG's Experience the Joy of Teaching campaign, which aims to tell the OSG story and attract great teachers to our campuses across the globe.

The campaign features a television commercial style film that was filmed at our Sydney campus in the April school holidays.

The Experience the Joy of Teaching theme was inspired directly by feedback from OSG teachers, many of whom say that joining OneSchool Global helped them reconnect with what inspired them to become teachers in the first place: focusing on teaching and learning and helping students thrive.

The campaign will be used internationally across digital, social media and other advertising channels to introduce prospective teachers to the opportunities available at OneSchool Global.

More than a recruitment campaign, it is a celebration of the students, families and staff that make OSG such a special place to learn and teach.

The film has been tailored to each region with French, Argentinian-Spanish and German language versions, as well as Australian, New Zealand, British and North American voiceovers. You can view the various international versions of the film here.
