Update From Mr James Easthope
Dear parents, students and our wider community,
As we move into Week 7, it is encouraging to reflect on the positive momentum we continue to see across our campus. Students are engaging well in their learning, our culture of self-directed learning continues to strengthen, and there is a genuine sense of purpose as we move through what is a very busy and important period of the term.
A key event coming up next week is our series of Parent Information Sessions focused on ATAR and QCE pathways. These sessions have been designed to support families in understanding how the senior years operate, including how subject scaling contributes to ATAR calculations and how students work towards achieving their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). While these sessions are open to both parents and students in Years 6–10, we are particularly encouraging parents to attend. The more understanding families have about the senior schooling journey, the better equipped they are to support their child in making informed subject selections and preparing for future success.
On Monday, we will also be celebrating Queensland Day. Thank you to all families who have submitted their food orders. Students are welcome to show their Queensland spirit by wearing maroon accessories such as beanies, scarves, gloves, socks, or flags. As always, school uniforms should remain visible, meaning jumpers, jerseys, or other clothing items that cover the uniform are not permitted. We look forward to a fun day celebrating the great state we are privileged to call home.
We are also right in the middle of a significant assessment period. Across the campus, students should now be actively preparing for exams, completing assignments, finalising drafts, and working towards upcoming due dates. This is often a time where students may need to dedicate a little more effort outside of school hours, including at home and occasionally on weekends, to ensure they are producing work that reflects their best ability. We encourage students to remain organised, plan ahead, and make full use of the supports available to them. In particular, tutorials continue to be one of the most effective ways for students to seek clarification, receive feedback, and gain confidence in their learning. We encourage all students to take advantage of these opportunities as they strive for their best academic outcomes.
Finally, while there may not appear to be significant visible movement on our building project at present, there is a tremendous amount of work occurring behind the scenes. Our design and project teams are continuing to refine plans, finalise details, and prepare for the next stages of construction. These important preparations help ensure that the finished product will not only meet our current needs but will continue to serve our campus community well into the future. It is exciting to see this project steadily progressing and to consider the opportunities it will create for generations of students to come.
