Update from the Campus Principal

Update From Mr James Easthope

Dear Campus Community,

As we reach the midpoint of Term 2, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge just how well our campus continues to perform. There is a strong sense of purpose and momentum across our learning spaces, with students demonstrating commitment to their studies and pride in the standards and expectations we hold as a school community. I would also like to sincerely thank our parent body for your continued support in reinforcing these expectations at home. Your partnership plays a critical role in helping us maintain the positive culture, high standards, and strong sense of accountability that allows our students to thrive.

Across the campus, we are now well and truly in the midst of assessment season, with many draft submissions and final pieces of assessment due this past week and throughout the coming two to three weeks. It has been encouraging to see students engaging seriously with their academic responsibilities, seeking feedback, refining their work, and demonstrating perseverance as they work toward achieving their personal best. This period of the term can be demanding, and it is essential that students remain organised, proactive, and intentional with their time to ensure they are meeting deadlines and producing work of a high standard.

This week, we were also fortunate to welcome visitors from OSG New Zealand, who spent time observing our campus and learning more about our processes and pedagogical approaches—particularly within our Years 6–9 learning programs. Their visit was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the exceptional work happening within our campus, and it was affirming to receive recognition for the strength of our teaching practices and the positive learning culture our staff and students have built together. We are proud of what is being achieved here and grateful for opportunities to share and celebrate that success on a broader stage.

Today, our students participated in Mission Nutrition, which proved to be an outstanding success. Throughout the day, students engaged in valuable learning around the importance of making nutritious food choices and understanding how healthy eating contributes to overall wellbeing and academic performance. They also explored the significance of physical activity in maintaining both physical health and mental wellbeing. It was wonderful to see students actively participating, asking thoughtful questions, and embracing the message that healthy habits are an essential part of living and learning well.

As we look ahead to the remainder of the term, there is much to look forward to, but there is also important work still to be done. I encourage all students to remain focused, organised, and diligent in managing their upcoming assessments and commitments. By planning ahead, seeking support when needed, and maintaining consistent effort, our students will place themselves in the best possible position for success.

Thank you again for your ongoing support and partnership. Together, we continue to build a campus culture that values excellence, responsibility, and growth, and I look forward to seeing our students continue to rise to the challenges and opportunities that the rest of the term will bring.

Warm regards,
James

Library
All students are encouraged to borrow books each week.
We have noticed students are not always borrowing.
OSG encourages all Primary students to read daily, and our library is there to facilitate this.

Reminder: Library Bags - no book no bag

In Primary we are currently focusing on our OSG expectations each week, which include:

- reading for at least 10 minutes a day, and recording in planners
- practising typing for an hour a week (using Typing Jungle)
- answering at least 30 IXL questions (at a good level of challenge)
- planning for study, and using our study plans effectively

APSMO

APSMO – Developing Mathematical Problem-Solving Skills in 2026

In 2026, all OneSchool Global Australia Primary students will participate in the Australasian Problem-Solving Mathematical Olympiads (APSMO) program across Terms 2 and 3.
APSMO is a levelled mathematics program designed to develop students’ problem-solving, reasoning, and thinking skills through engaging and challenging tasks. Students work on problems suited to their current level, helping build confidence, creativity, and perseverance in mathematics.

How APSMO Works
• Students will take part in weekly APSMO sessions, focused on developing key problem-solving strategies.
• Activities include a mix of explicit teaching, hands-on challenges, and discussions, allowing students to explain their thinking and learn from others.
• Depending on the level, students may work more independently or more collaboratively.
APSMO Challenges
• Some APSMO levels includes challenges held twice each term (usually around Weeks 3 and 8).
• These challenges vary by level and may involve:
o Individual problem-solving papers, or
o Collaborative team challenges
• Not all levels complete formal tests; some focus on guided activities and games that build foundational skills.
APSMO Levels Explained
Students are already placed in one of the following APSMO levels based on their learning needs:
• Maths Olympiad (Junior) Designed for high-achieving students, offering challenging problems that promote advanced reasoning, creativity, and flexible thinking.

• Maths Games Focuses on developing problem-solving skills through engaging, real-world style problems while building enjoyment and confidence in mathematics.
• Maths Explorer Introduces problem-solving through fun, practical, and collaborative activities that students can relate to.
• Maths Quest Encourages students to explore early problem-solving concepts through interactive activities and games, supporting confidence and teamwork.

APSMO is embedded within our regular mathematics Lesson time and supports our ongoing commitment to high-quality, explicit teaching of problem solving. The APSMO program complements our classroom learning and helps students develop important thinking skills that may extend beyond the mathematics classroom.
If you have any questions about APSMO or would like further information about how the program supports your child’s learning, please feel free to contact Heather Fallon.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education.

Kind regards,
Primary Mathematics Team OneSchool Global Australia

SLT Update

Hot chocolates are back! ☕🍫
Just in time for the cooler weather — grab yours for only $3!

Hot chocolates will be available each week, with cash accepted on the day.

For students who would like a hot chocolate regularly, we are also offering the option to pre-pay for the remaining five weeks. Students can pre-purchase drink stickers (1 sticker = 1 hot chocolate), which will be kept with the hot chocolate supplies. This helps us move away from IOUs and keeps things running smoothly.

If your child would like one each week for the rest of term, you can purchase 6 stickers for $18 and simply use one each week.

Please note, IOUs will no longer be accepted.
Any unused stickers will be refunded to students in Week 10.

Payments to be made at the office or to the SLT – Cash Preferred.

Year 7 - 10 Regional Exams

DATE CHANGES:
The Regional Exams for Years 7-10 will now take place on Tuesday 16 June - Friday 19 June

The student free day has also changed to Friday 26 June for all students.

Hospitality Grazing Boxes

Last week, our Year 11 and Year 12 Hospitality students were tasked with creating and selling grazing boxes on a limited budget.

Both groups did an outstanding job, demonstrating strong teamwork, creativity, and business awareness. Their marketing strategies were well thought out, and the quality of their food was exceptional.

We are incredibly proud of the effort and skill shown by all students—fantastic work!
