Dear Parents,

As we close out Week 4 of Term 1, I am reminded daily of the great privilege it is to serve as Principal of OSG Sydney. Each morning, we are greeted by students who arrive excited, well cared for and ready to engage in the day ahead. Thank you for the role you play in ensuring that your children are mentally and physically prepared for productive school days. The partnership between home and school remains one of our greatest strengths, and it is evident in the positive tone and focus we see across campus.

February has certainly been a jampacked and energising month for our school community. We were delighted to host our recent Primary Open Day, welcoming many of our Primary families onto campus. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm, curiosity and support of our parent body as you engaged with staff, classrooms and the learning spaces that your children use each day. Thank you for partnering with us so willingly and for the positive spirit you continue to bring to the OSG Sydney community.

This week also saw our Secondary students come together for their Face-To-Face day at Sydney Olympic Park. Students had the opportunity to meet their teachers and peers from across NSW, building relationships, sharing in learning experiences and strengthening their sense of belonging within the broader OneSchool network. It was a valuable day of connection, networking and community-building, and we look forward to the ongoing impact this will have on learning and collaboration throughout the year.

Excitement is also building as we approach the Official Opening of the OSG Sydney Campus on 25 February. This will be a significant milestone in the journey of both OSG and our Sydney campus, and we look forward to welcoming guests from across our community and network to celebrate this momentous occasion together. For families who may be unable to attend the official event, we will be providing alternative opportunities throughout March to visit and experience the campus firsthand. Further information on these opportunities will be shared shortly.

As we move into our fifth week in the new facilities, we are pleased to see campus learning routines strengthening. Teachers are continuing to find their feet in the new environment, and students are settling into healthy rhythms of learning and engagement. We encourage parents to align with our current Learn-to-Learn (L2L) prompt for the fortnight by asking your child: “What tutorial have you booked, and why?” - This simple question helps reinforce student agency, planning and reflection—key components of the OSG learning model.

It was wonderful to see so many parents and visitors join us for our recent Parent Information Session. The morning began with campus tours, where our SRC and SLT teams did a fantastic job showcasing our school and proudly leading visitors around the grounds. Their confidence and enthusiasm truly reflected the spirit of our school community.

The atmosphere throughout the morning was warm and welcoming, with many positive interactions and meaningful conversations taking place. Following the tours, teachers hosted informative classroom sessions, outlining class routines, key learning focuses, and upcoming assignment expectations. Parents also had the opportunity to ask questions, allowing for valuable discussion and connection.

We sincerely appreciate your ongoing support and partnership. We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to working together to make it a successful and rewarding year for all students.

Please review the letter below from Head Office outlining details of the new procedures for payments at the Primary Library. Payments can now only be made via the Payment Platform, not on campus.

Our Senior Enrichment Program continues to be a highlight for students eager to take charge of their own learning. Designed to foster independence, curiosity, and personal growth, the program offers the opportunity to learn away from the campus once per week (once per fortnight for Year 10) Students are expected to set meaningful goals and manage their learning with purpose. The program provides an opportunity for academic extension but also builds confidence, initiative, and the habits of lifelong learners.

On Friday 13th, we launched the program, with a clear guide on the expectations.

On Thursday 26th February, we will have a parent session to hone in on the planning process required and share best practice on supporting your child when they are at home. We’re excited to see our senior students embracing the opportunity, challenging themselves, and discovering what they can achieve when given the space to learn on their own term.

On Thursday, February 19th, our secondary students and staff came together for another fantastic Face-to-Face event at Sydney Olympic Park — and what a day it was!

This much-anticipated event is always a highlight on the calendar, providing a vibrant opportunity for students and teachers from all campuses to connect in person, strengthen relationships, and celebrate being part of one united secondary community. The energy throughout the day was outstanding as students collaborated across campuses, built new friendships, and worked closely with their teachers in an engaging, hands-on learning environment.

Beyond deepening their understanding of subject content, students embraced the chance to learn together, share ideas, and grow their confidence in a supportive and dynamic setting.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s Face-to-Face event, which will be held at our beautiful Sydney campus. Stay tuned for more details — it’s sure to be another incredible experience!

We are looking forward to seeing you this Wednesday, February 25th at our Campus Welcome Event for our school community. It promises to be a fantastic morning where we can come together, showcase our new facilities and celebrate this historic milestone in our school’s history.

Based on the responses we’ve received to the invitation, we’re expecting a very large turnout on the day, so please make yourself familiar with the important information outlined below to ensure everyone has the best possible experience.

Last week, students in Years 3 – 10 completed their MAP Growth assessments. These assessments are an important part of understanding each learner’s strengths and identifying the skills they’re ready to develop next. More importantly, they give students a chance to see their own progress and celebrate how far they’ve come. Now that testing is complete, we’re excited to move into the next phase: individual learning goals. In the coming days, teachers will meet with every student to review their MAP results and set personalised goals for the months ahead. These conversations help students take ownership of their learning, understand what they’re working toward, and build confidence as they grow.

Whether a student is strengthening foundational skills or stretching into new challenges, these goals will guide instruction and support meaningful progress. We’re incredibly proud of our students for the dedication they’ve shown during MAP testing, and we’re equally excited to partner with them as they set new goals and continue their learning journey. Thank you for supporting them at home and cheering them on every step of the way. Together, we’re building momentum for a strong and successful year.

NAPLAN assesses Literacy and Numeracy of all students Nationally and this data is tracked and used to help determine and develop curriculum initiatives.

In our setting, we will use the data from these tests to help further expand our understanding of our learners and use it alongside the data we receive from our MAP testing.

Each Campus within the AU Region will be undertaking the testing at the same time-see schedule below.

All students in the above year levels are required to participate-please discuss any special arrangements or concerns with your Campus Principal who may be able to assist.

Students do not need to prepare for NAPLAN tests-we will be completing some practice tests to assist students in the use of the technology. We do however encourage parents to support the process by avoiding any unnecessary absences and to encourage their child/ren to always do their best.
