Dear Parents,

As we commence Week 5 of Term 3, our attention continues to be firmly focused on ensuring our students are well supported through an important period of the academic year.

The first part of the term has seen a significant focus on HSC preparation, with our Year 12 students and teachers working purposefully towards the Trial HSC examinations, which commenced on 17 August. This period provides an important opportunity for the preparation and hard work of recent weeks to come to fruition. We wish our Year 12 students every success and encourage them to approach the weeks ahead with confidence, discipline and a strong finish in mind.

Behind the scenes, our teachers have also commenced an exciting professional learning project in partnership with Independent Schools NSW (ISNSW). The workshops focus on continually improving professional practice and, specifically, how we optimise student engagement during teaching and learning. This is an important part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that classroom practice remains aligned with industry best practice. A particular thank you and well done to Mrs Brookes, who is leading this valuable project for our campus.

Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate Primary Literacy Week, including our much-loved annual Book Character Parade on Tuesday, 25 August. This is always a wonderful occasion for our Primary students and an opportunity to celebrate the joy, imagination and learning that comes through literature. We look forward to welcoming our parent community to share in this special event.

Our Year 12 students are also entering the final stretch of their school journey. As part of this important period, we look forward to our annual Year 12 Motivation Day on 28 August, which will be held at Bicentennial Park this year. As the group moves closer to completing their school careers, this provides a valuable opportunity to reflect on their journey together, strengthen their collective resolve and prepare for a strong finish.

Finally, it was wonderful to see the energy and engagement around our recent AI Unlocked Day. We are pleased with the progressive position OSG is taking in exploring the role of artificial intelligence in education. There is an exciting journey ahead as schools consider how AI can enhance teaching, learning and preparation for the world beyond school, and it is encouraging to see OSG positioning itself ahead of the curve in this rapidly developing space.

Students will create their Book Week jar or bottle during class time in Week 6 with support from teachers.

Before Week 6, please help your child:

• Choose a favourite book.
• Bring a suitable plastic jar or bottle (maximum 3L).
• Gather any special materials or props they would like to use.
• Start thinking about their Book Week dress-up character!

Completed jars will be displayed around Primary and featured in a special slideshow for our school community to enjoy. We can't wait to see everyone's creativity!

We are excited to introduce our new Primary Raffle Ticket Reward System! Throughout recess and lunch, study periods, and sport, students have the opportunity to earn a raffle ticket for demonstrating our school values through being respectful, kind, caring, responsible, and looking after our environment.

Each raffle ticket is placed into a weekly draw, with one winner selected from each year group at the end of the week. Winning students get to choose a prize from our amazing prize collection!

We love seeing so many students making positive choices each day. Keep living our school values!

Year 6 Red has been developing their skills in multiplication and adding and subtracting decimals. We have some fantastic mathematicians in our class who not only challenge themselves but also help and support their peers. It has been wonderful to see students working together, sharing strategies, and building confidence in their learning.

Over the next two weeks, our Year 12 students will be undertaking their HSC Trial Examinations. This is an important milestone in their final year of schooling and provides valuable preparation for the HSC examinations later in the year.

We ask parents to support their child by ensuring they arrive at school with plenty of time before each examination. Arriving early allows students to settle, organise any required materials, and begin their examinations feeling calm and prepared.

We encourage all students to maintain healthy routines throughout the examination period, including regular sleep, good nutrition, and effective study habits.

We wish all of our Year 12 students every success during their Trial Examinations and commend them for the dedication and effort they have invested in their studies throughout the year. We are confident that their hard work and preparation will serve them well, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements.

Last week, the secondary boys kicked off their Rugby League Skills and Drills activity for their Invasion Games unit. It started off very well with the boys learning correct tackling techniques in a controlled environment with professional coaches and players from Parramatta Rugby League. They will continue to work on game sense situations to further their knowledge and deepen their understanding within a structured Rugby League Environment.

We are pleased to share with parents and families, the launch of OSG's Experience the Joy of Teaching campaign, which aims to tell the OSG story and attract great teachers to our campuses across the globe.

The campaign features a television commercial style film that was filmed at our Sydney campus in the April school holidays.

The Experience the Joy of Teaching theme was inspired directly by feedback from OSG teachers, many of whom say that joining OneSchool Global helped them reconnect with what inspired them to become teachers in the first place: focusing on teaching and learning and helping students thrive.

The campaign will be used internationally across digital, social media and other advertising channels to introduce prospective teachers to the opportunities available at OneSchool Global.

More than a recruitment campaign, it is a celebration of the students, families and staff that make OSG such a special place to learn and teach.

The film has been tailored to each region with French, Argentinian-Spanish and German language versions, as well as Australian, New Zealand, British and North American voiceovers. You can view the various international versions of the film here.

Over the course of this week, students in Years 3 to 11 will be completing Round 2 of MAP Growth Testing. These assessments provide students and teachers with valuable information about academic progress and help identify areas for continued growth and improvement.

Students are encouraged to revisit their learning goals and work closely with their class teachers and Homeroom teachers to understand the RIT scores they are aiming to achieve in this testing round. Setting clear targets and reflecting on previous results can help students approach the assessments with confidence and purpose.

As all testing will be completed online during Periods 1 and 2 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, secondary students are reminded to arrive at school with their laptops fully charged each day.

We wish all students the very best as they complete their assessments and look forward to celebrating their progress and growth.
