Dear Parents,

As we come to the end of Week 8 of Term 2, it is hard to believe that only two weeks remain in what has been a productive and rewarding term. This fortnight has had a strong academic focus as students completed assessments and examinations for the Semester 1 reporting period.

It has been particularly encouraging to observe the growth in student planning, organisation, and preparation leading into these important assessment tasks. Equally pleasing has been the strengthening partnership between home and school, with parents actively supporting students throughout the examination period. The examination sessions themselves were well organised and conducted with a strong sense of rigour, and the pursuit of excellence. We sincerely thank both staff and students for the commitment and hard work demonstrated throughout the semester and trust that these efforts will be reflected in positive outcomes.

In support of our ongoing commitment to strengthening the parent-school partnership, the Parent Canvas Workshops have been running successfully since Week 3 of this term. The final workshop for the term will take place in Week 9. We extend our sincere appreciation to all parents who have participated in these sessions. We firmly believe that a greater understanding of Canvas equips parents to engage more confidently with their children's learning and enhances their ability to support academic growth and achievement.

As we enter the final fortnight of Term 2, teaching and learning remain at the centre of our focus. Our priority is to finish the term strongly and in a manner that honours the considerable effort that have characterised the semester.

We are also looking forward to the Student Leadership Team Fundraiser and Activity Day on Friday, 3 July, the final day of Term 2. Our student leaders have been working diligently behind the scenes to plan what promises to be an exciting and enjoyable day for the school community. I would like to commend the SLT for the discipline and leadership they have demonstrated throughout the planning process. We look forward to welcoming parents to join us for a day of community and meaningful fundraising.

Finally, I would like to thank all parents for your ongoing partnership and support. OSG Sydney is stronger because of your involvement in the life of the campus. Together, we continue to create an environment where students can thrive.

We wish all families a successful and productive final two weeks of the term and look forward to seeing many of you at the final Parent Canvas Workshop on Wednesday.

Students have been exploring how we experience food using all five senses—sight, smell, touch, sound and taste. Through hands-on discussions and activities, they are learning that our senses help us understand food before we even take a bite and influence what we enjoy eating.

It was especially exciting to take our learning into the secondary kitchen, where students enjoyed a practical cooking experience to bring their discoveries to life.

How does Australia fit into the puzzle of the world?

Students have been learning to locate Australia and nearby countries, identify important places, and compare regions. They also explored how people have shaped Australia’s culture. As part of this, students created a fantastic three-map illustration using tracing paper.

We are pleased to inform you that we have appointed a casual teacher, Miss Tasha Hague, to cover the 6 Green class until the end of term.

Miss Hague will be working closely with Mrs Christie Daschke and Mrs Alison Brookes, to ensure consistency and continuity for the students and their learning.

This semester's Year 7 Still Life Showcase celebrates the outstanding work produced through our new Regional Visual Arts assignment. Based on the theme of watercolour still life, students responded to an authentic creative brief that challenged them to develop technical skills, think critically, and engage with real-world learning.

Congratulations to all students on their fantastic achievements and commitment to the creative process.

This examination period marked an exciting milestone for our Years 7–11 students, with exams held in the hall as a new venue. The change of environment proved highly successful, providing students with a calm, organised, and focused setting that supported them in doing their best.

We are delighted to report that student behaviour and application throughout the exam period were excellent. Students approached their exams with maturity, responsibility, and a strong commitment to their learning. Their positive attitude and careful preparation were evident, and they should be very proud of their efforts.

A sincere thank you to all staff who were involved in preparing and facilitating the exams. Their planning, organisation, and supervision ensured that the process ran smoothly and provided students with the best possible conditions.

We would also like to acknowledge the ongoing support of our parents, whose encouragement at home plays an essential role in student success. Finally, congratulations to our students for the way they conducted themselves and applied their efforts during this important time.

This has been a very successful examination period, and we look forward to building on this positive experience in the future.

Throughout this term for Physical Education 7-10 Boys and Girls have been completing the "Net and Court" games unit with a focus on Pickle Ball and Paddle Tennis. Last Friday the 7-12 Girls got an opportunity to visit the Paddle Club complex where they were able to display their skills they have been learning throughout the term in a professional match and game approach.

Feedback from the students was that it was a wonderful afternoon and great facility.

Wellbeing Wrap

Student wellbeing plays a vital role in learning, engagement, and overall development. As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting every student, this fortnightly wellbeing section will provide practical strategies and insights to help students thrive both at school and at home.

Looking Back and Moving Forward

With exam week now behind us, it is important for students to take a moment to acknowledge the effort, perseverance, and commitment they have shown throughout the assessment and exam period. While it can be tempting to focus solely on results, there is significant value in reflecting on the learning journey itself.

Reflection allows students to recognise what went well, identify strategies that supported their success, and consider areas for future growth. Taking time to celebrate achievements both big and small can help build confidence and resilience.

Following a busy period, it is also important for students to recharge. Prioritising sleep, physical activity, social connections, and enjoyable activities can help restore energy levels and support overall wellbeing.

Families can encourage positive reflection by focusing on effort, persistence, and personal growth rather than outcomes alone. Conversations about what students learned from the experience can be just as valuable as discussions about results.

At school, we encourage students to view challenges and setbacks as opportunities for growth. Every experience provides valuable lessons that can help build confidence and prepare students for future success.

Success is not just about the outcome - it is also about the effort, growth, and learning that happen along the way.
