Dear Parents,

Today we celebrated Footy Colours Day, and it was wonderful to be on campus soaking in the positive energy and enthusiasm from our students. The sense of school pride and community spirit was evident everywhere you looked, with students sporting the colours of their favourite teams and enjoying the games and activities on offer.

A huge thank you to our Student Leadership Team (SLT), who planned and ran the day with maturity and excitement. From organising the activities to coordinating the BBQ, they demonstrated excellent teamwork and leadership. These experiences continue to grow their confidence and strengthen the culture on campus.

This week, I also returned from the Campus Principal / Regional Head of Department ‘Lead Together’ Conference, which provided a valuable opportunity to refine processes and re‑set our areas of focus for 2026. The collaboration across campuses continues to elevate the work we do and supports a shared commitment to continuous improvement.

I am also pleased to share that our initial MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) results have come back extremely positive. When compared only to other larger campuses (100+ students), our campus placed on top, achieving an Achievement Percentile of 75.

This is an outstanding result and speaks to the dedication of our students, teachers, and the strong support from our parent community.

As we move into Round 2 of MAP testing, our focus will be on lifting our Growth measure, ensuring every student shows improvement from the previous testing round.

Looking ahead to next week, I am very much looking forward to Monday’s Primary Assembly (Period 1), followed by our International Women’s Day celebration during Period 2.

We will be hosting a morning tea to honour the wonderful women, mothers, and grandmothers in our community who contribute so much to the life of our campus.

A reminder for families of students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 that NAPLAN commences next Wednesday 11 March, and continues on Thursday 12 March, Friday 13 March, and Monday 16 March.

Please ensure students are well‑rested and arrive prepared.

We’ve had a wonderful start to the school year.

Students have been arriving each day wearing their uniforms with pride and showing a fantastic attitude toward learning. Their enthusiasm has set a positive tone for the term.

Our morning fitness sessions have quickly become a favourite part of the day. Students are enjoying the chance to get moving first thing in the morning, helping them feel energised and ready to learn.

A special mention goes to our Year Three’s, who have settled in extremely well with Mr Mossey. They have embraced new routines with confidence and are already showing great independence.

National Virtual Incursion

This week, Primary students across Australia came together over Zoom to enjoy an incursion with Old Parliament House. It was an amazing experience for our students. Even though we are thousands of kilometres apart, we were able to come together as one school community and participate in the same learning opportunity. Experiences like this remind us how connected we can be, no matter the distance.

Home Reading Expectations

As part of our homework routine, all students are encouraged to read aloud every night, focusing on accuracy and fluency. This daily practice helps build confidence and strong reading habits.

Students may choose a book from:

* their classroom

* the school library

* or a book they enjoy at home

Please ensure your child records the book title in their Student Planner each night and that it is signed by a parent or carer.

Our Year 10 students from Perth and regional campuses recently took part in a hands-on coastal care excursion at Cottesloe Beach.

Students learned about dune ecosystems, local plant species, and the importance of coastal conservation, while contributing directly by applying mulch, and assisting with restoration efforts.

The excursion provided a meaningful, real-world learning experience, allowing students to apply their classroom knowledge in a practical setting.

Feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting how enjoyable and educational it was to be actively involved in protecting the coastline.

We thank the Cottesloe Beach volunteers and staff for hosting us and look forward to returning next year.

The Student/Teacher Face-to-Face Days were a tremendous success across all regions.

Each State delivered a smooth, well organised program that created meaningful opportunities for students and teachers to connect in person.

A heartfelt thank-you to our organisers, HODs, DOTLS, and RPs for their detailed planning, leadership, and coordination. Their collective effort ensured consistency in quality while allowing each state to tailor the experience to local needs.

Students enjoyed engaging activities designed for each class, which added energy and enjoyment to the day and helped strengthen relationships

with their teachers. Staff reported high engagement, purposeful conversations, and a strong sense of community throughout the events.

Thank you to our volunteer parents who transported the students to and from the event.

NAPLAN assesses Literacy and Numeracy of all students Nationally and this data is tracked and used to help determine and develop curriculum initiatives.

In our setting, we will use the data from these tests to help further expand our understanding of our learners and use it alongside the data we receive from our MAP testing.

Each Campus within the AU Region will be undertaking the testing at the same time-see schedule below.

At OneSchool Global AU, all Year 10 students complete the Certificate III in Business as part of their curriculum.

This qualification equips students with practical skills in administration, communication, and workplace technology - essential tools for success in senior study, part-time work, and future careers.

Completing the Certificate III in Business helps students develop confidence, organisation, and a professional mindset. It provides a real-world context for learning and gives every student a head start in understanding the business world.

We are proud to offer this program as a core part of Year 10, ensuring all students gain these valuable skills and are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond.

Students who complete all requirements will be awarded the national qualification - Certificate III in Business.

Students who are only able to complete part of the qualification will still receive a statement of attainment, providing credit for the units they do achieve.

Your encouragement at home can make a real difference. We encourage parents to support their young person by discussing their learning, celebrating achievements, and encouraging them to apply the skills they are developing.

Together, we can help every student succeed and make the most of this valuable qualification.

INFORMATION

The 2026 WA Secondary Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 20th March at WA Athletics Stadium

(Stephenson Avenue, Floreat). Please arrive at 9.10am to ensure that events can begin at 9.30am.

Students & spectators will need to make their own way to the WA Athletics Centre for this day. Please note students are not permitted to drive themselves.

REMINDERS

Coloured hair spray is not to be brought to the stadium. Due to an incident in the past, coloured hair spray is not permitted at the venue.

Students should be wearing their normal school sports uniform and sports or a house-coloured shirt.

This includes the school hat, jumper, and jacket. Hats, jumpers, jackets, shorts, pants etc. that are not normal school uniform are not to be worn.

Students to please bring and wear sunscreen, and hat when not competing. Please bring a refillable water bottle (labelled) and snacks to ensure students are hydrated and full of energy.

Students who are asthmatic need to ensure that they always have their puffers with them.

House Stadium areas need to be kept clean. Students need to be responsible for their own rubbish.

Students who are not competing must remain off the track and field during and between events.

Access to bathroom facilities is around the starting area to prevent interfering with events.

Please do not walk to the toilets via the finishing line end.

Younger siblings that are not yet students of OSG must remain in the spectators’ stadium please.

This will ensure that students are focused and can also be found easily for events.

Due to WHS matters, WA Athletics Stadium have requested that younger siblings stay out of the long jump pits sand.

Parents, students, and spectators are asked to please avoid the finishing line to ensure accurate recording of results.

RUNNING ‘SPIKED’ SHOES

To prevent any accidents or injuries, secondary students who choose to wear ‘spiked’ running shoes must adhere to the following:

* Normal sport shoes or joggers must be worn to the venue

* Running shoes can be changed into before appropriate events

* Normal sports shoes must be worn for team games

* Staff will be checking that correct shoes are worn at the appropriate events.

Running or spiked shoes may only be worn during the following events:

· 100m

· 200m

· 400m

· 800m

· Relays

ENERGY DRINKS

Energy drinks (such as Red Bull & V) are not permitted to be consumed. These drinks contain high levels of caffeine, guarana and taurine which can have dangerous effects on the body, especially children. Sports drinks and water are the best choice for students taking part in sporting events.

Time permitting, it is anticipated that the champion trophies will be announced at the conclusion of the events.

NEW SCORING SYSTEM IN 2026:

To speed up the day, we will be trialing a new scoring system this year.

This will involve allocating students an identification number at the start of the day. This should speed up the recording of results at the completion of the individual races.

FIELD EVENT CHANGES FOR 2026:

In 2026, all OSG Athletics Carnivals are moving towards national alignment. This will mean that some of the throwing field events may have slightly different weights than those used in previous years. The new weights are as follows:

A reminder that, while an athletics carnival can sometimes be quite competitive, having fun through participation and ‘giving it a go’ is ultimately what athletics days are about.
