Science - Volcano Experiment

To finalise our Cross Curricular unit 'Does It Matter' Stage 2 and 3 created a hypothesis and followed an experimental procedure to create a volcano. We learnt that when some solids and liquids are combined, they can create a chemical reaction.

World of Maths Day at OSG Wagga

On Tuesday, 2nd June, Cowra students had a fantastic day experiencing mathematics in action at the World of Maths Workshop hosted at OSG Wagga. Through a variety of interactive, hand-made problem-solving displays, the students explored real-world application strands including geometry properties, spatial visualisation, number patterns, and logical reasoning. The workshop provided an excellent guided discovery lesson that boosted student confidence, sparked a love of learning, and built critical 21st-century analytical skills by encouraging students to try different approaches without the pressure of a traditional classroom layout. Crucially, working alongside peers from other schools allowed our students to develop vital team communication skills, as they enthusiastically negotiated challenges, shared creative strategies, and built new social connections through a shared sense of mathematical achievement.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea - Cowra

Our school community came together for a wonderful cause at our recent Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. The event was well supported, with a fantastic turnout of families, friends, and staff all uniting to make a meaningful difference. This outstanding charitable effort raised vital funds to support cancer research, prevention, and support services for those affected by the disease. Following the delicious morning tea, it was a joy to see parents and friends join our students in a variety of fun school activities. This shared time greatly benefited everyone involved, strengthening our community bonds, boosting school spirit, and allowing parents to actively share in their children's learning and playtime. We extend a massive thank you to our wonderful volunteers who generously gave their time to organize, prepare, and serve the beautiful food that made the event such a success.

This week, Year 7 participated in debating for their English Summative Assessment. The students had been working hard on their speeches throughout Term Two, brushing up on their knowledge of persuasive techniques, and refining their stage presence and confidence as they practiced leading up to the big day.

The topic got quite heated as the girls debated 'The Social Media Ban Will Actually Work'. With each team member bringing their own personal skills and flair to the debate, it will be no easy task to judge, as the students are still eagerly awaiting the results

Year 8 have been examining energy in science. One task they had to complete is a Rube Goldburg machine to use a complicated series of energy transfers to perform a simple task. So if you have seen some strange devices set up at home, this is likely the cause. This video show just one of these set up to pop a balloon!

Cowra Tennis Lessons

Cowra primary students will be participating in tennis lessons at the Tennis Courts every Wednesday this term, from 1pm – 2:05pm.
