Over the last 6 weeks Primary have been building and coding Lego robots. Students were then able to choose between 4 different challenges to complete with their robot. Here is Orange’s campus entry for the Global Lego Lab competition with their robot, which they have affectionally named “Greg”. The team programed “Greg” to drive to the shops, pick up an online delivery and deliver it home again. Congratulations to our winning team and good luck in the Global Competition.

In week 2 & 3 this term Primary celebrated History Week. As part of this the children were set a challenge to create a mini museum at home. Students had to choose a significant event in Australia’s History and create a museum like diorama, complete with artifacts and information. We are impressed by our ‘Mini Museums’ and the effort of the children. Congratulations to all who participated!
Primary are continuing to enjoy their Cross Curricular Unit “What’s the Matter” and have loved watching and completing experiments. Over the past few weeks, we have tested the viscosity of liquids with ‘liquid races’; measured the density of liquids by creating a rainbow in a jar; looked at how gases expand and contract based on temperature; and how different solids and liquids can react together to create a new ‘state of matter’.
In preparation for Mission Nutrition, Cowra interviewed staff and students to get a better understanding of when we feel tired throughout the day and what can help with our energy levels.

There has been a lot of activity in science of late, with students across our year groups exploring forces, atoms, energy and simple machines. There have been some great assignments being handed in as well. Year 7 had to design a toy that used simple machines. Many wonderful and creative designs were handed in and Mr Pickard has been having a wonderful time playing with them all!
If you would like to see and play with these yourself they are on display in the admin building.

Mr Pickard's Joke of the Week
