Update from the Campus Principal

Hello Parents,

With Years 7–10 examinations taking place this week, alongside a whole-school challenge for both Primary and Secondary students to achieve 500 completed tutorial bookings before Friday 19th, I have been extremely impressed with the attitude and effort shown by Northam students.

By now, you will be aware that students successfully met this challenge and have earned their Friday lunchtime reward. This is a fantastic achievement, and I would like to take a moment to highlight the effort behind it:

Total tutorials completed in 6 weeks: 526

Total completed by Primary: 164

Total completed by Secondary: 362

We will also be recognising our top-achieving students on Monday. I will be sure to share the winners via Signal once they have been announced. Thank you to the Board for their sponsorship.

To all parents who supported their children this week, whether by encouraging engagement with the tutorial system or assisting with exam preparation, thank you. While results are still to come, the attitude and effort demonstrated by Northam students has been exceptional.

The ice creams were very well earned!

Congratulations to the following students who were recognised in Week 8.

Food Technology: Students had the opportunity to make and enjoy their own healthy snacks in the kitchen this week! Some created tasty combinations using berries, honey and cream cheese. They had lots of fun experimenting with flavours and enjoyed eating their creations afterwards.

In CCA, students have been learning about maps and worked hard to create a labelled map of Australia using tracing paper. Their maps included layers showing capital cities, population density, mountains, deserts, rivers and landmarks. They look fantastic, well done, Primary!

In English (Year 5/6), students have been writing based on our class novel Angel, Soldier, Thief. The story tells of a young boy in a war zone who brings hope and helps others. Students wrote newspaper articles inspired by those from World War II about the Angel of Stalingrad, choosing their own metaphors such as “The Light,” “The Hero,” or “The Saviour of Stalingrad” to describe the young boy. They did a wonderful job and should be very proud of their work.

cO2 Cars

After 8 weeks of hard work, planning, sanding, painting, and engineering, our regional year 8 students came to Perth and finally put their CO₂ cars to the test on race day. Students worked hard to design and build the fastest car they could, applying their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills throughout the project.

Congratulations to our top finishers:

🥇 Quintana Draffin 0.96 seconds

🥈 Twyla Jackson – 0.98 seconds

🥉 Marshall Painter – 1.03 seconds

Well done to everyone who participated. The effort, dedication, and perseverance shown by all students throughout the challenge was outstanding. It was great to see their designs come to life and race down the track.

A fantastic achievement by all involved!
