Term 2 is well underway, and it has certainly begun with energy, excitement, and plenty of activity across the campus. One of the most noticeable changes has been the demolition of our primary playground. While it has been strange to see the space cleared, there is a great sense of anticipation as we eagerly await the installation of our new playground, which will provide enhanced opportunities for play, connection, and development for our younger students.
We were delighted to welcome Mr Marty Hunt, MP for Nicklin, to our campus. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the strengths of our school community. I was particularly impressed by the confidence and curiosity of our primary students, especially Sybelle, Ivy, and Clarice, who engaged Mr Hunt with thoughtful questions about his role and the pathway to becoming a Member of Parliament. Their willingness to ask questions and seek understanding was a great reflection of the learning culture we value. Our Student Leadership Team also represented the campus with distinction, leading a tour and clearly articulating both their roles and the vision of our school. Mr Percasky commented on the exemplary leadership and positive role modelling they demonstrated throughout the visit, and I wholeheartedly echo this sentiment. It was also a special moment to welcome back Tiarni Parsons, our 2025 Queensland Dux. Tiarni spoke with Mr Hunt about her experiences as an OSG student and how this has prepared her for life beyond school.
Last Friday, we acknowledged National Office Professionals Day. This was a meaningful opportunity to recognise the outstanding contribution of Mrs Brooke Ryan, our Campus Office Administrator. Brooke’s dedication, organisation, and care play a vital role in the smooth daily operations of our campus, as well as in supporting the wellbeing of both students and staff. We are truly grateful for all that she does.
On Thursday, our Year 7, 9, and 11 students travelled to the Maryborough campus to participate in OSGAware. This experience provided valuable opportunities for connection, collaboration, and learning alongside their peers.
Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate Mission Nutrition Day on Friday, 22 May. We extend our sincere thanks to Lucelle Parsons and the canteen team for their efforts in organising and preparing healthy lunch options for students to purchase on the day. This event will feature an alternative timetable for both primary and secondary students, focusing on the importance of nutrition, healthy habits, and staying active. Developed by health professionals and delivered across OSG campuses globally, this initiative provides a valuable opportunity for students to engage in practical and meaningful learning about their wellbeing.
Finally, we look forward to welcoming all the wonderful mums to the campus on Monday at lunchtime for a special afternoon tea. We hope you enjoy a beautiful Mother’s Day on Sunday, surrounded by your families.
