Welcome to our new-look newsletter, which I am writing today from the wonderful facilities of the Sydney campus.

This week, I have spent time in Sydney taking part in the Regional Campus Principal and Head of Department Conference. The conference focused on strengthening partnerships between Principals and Heads of Department across the country. The opportunity to share ideas, discuss goals, and align our collective focus will go a long way toward enhancing the experience of both our teaching staff and our students at OSG.

A highlight of the visit was a tour of the newly developed facilities at the Sydney campus. Their state-of-the-art learning spaces were impressive, and I greatly appreciated the warm hospitality extended by the leadership team, staff, and students during my time there.

While I have been away—and over the past two weeks—it has been wonderful to celebrate student success and see new initiatives taking shape.

Last Thursday, it was my privilege to present Tiarni Parsons with the 2025 QLD Dux Award. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and wish her every success in her future endeavours.

While I was in Sydney, our superstar SLT students organised a Zoom meeting with the San Francisco SLT students. I am very excited to see what opportunities may emerge from this student-led initiative.

Over the past week, our students have also been working with their homeroom teachers to develop individual literacy or numeracy learning goals. These goals will be shared with parents, with the intention that students will make progress toward them before the next round of MAP testing. Students will need to keep working steadily toward their targets, supported and monitored by our staff.

Looking ahead, in Week 8 our Year 3, 5, 7, and 9 students will complete NAPLAN testing, beginning Wednesday 11 March. While NAPLAN provides only a snapshot of each student’s learning at a given point in time, it is an important opportunity for students to experience a formal testing environment and for the school to gather valuable data that contributes to their learning profile.

I am looking forward to returning to our beautiful—hopefully sunny—campus next week.

At OneSchool Global AU, all Year 10 students complete the Certificate III in Business as part of their curriculum. This qualification equips students with practical skills in administration, communication, and workplace technology - essential tools for success in senior study, part-time work, and future careers.

Completing the Certificate III in Business helps students develop confidence, organisation, and a professional mindset. It provides a real-world context for learning and gives every student a head start in understanding the business world.

We are proud to offer this program as a core part of Year 10, ensuring all students gain these valuable skills and are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond. Students who complete all requirements will be awarded the national qualification - Certificate III in Business. Students who are only able to complete part of the qualification will still receive a statement of attainment, providing credit for the units they do achieve.

Your encouragement at home can make a real difference. We encourage parents to support their young person by discussing their learning, celebrating achievements, and encouraging them to apply the skills they are developing. Together, we can help every student succeed and make the most of this valuable qualification.

Friday 13 March is NATIONAL Pi DAY!

Pre-order pie for first break via the Pi Day pre-order form by Tuesday 10 March.

Please pay cash on the day. A GF/DF option is available.

Primary parents – you will need to pre-order for your students as they do not have access to the webform.

The Primary Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 24 March.

The Secondary Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 31 March.

Both carnivals will be held at the University of the Sunshine Coast Athletics Track.

Students are to arrive from 8:30am, with official announcements and house chants beginning at 8:45am. Events will commence promptly at 9:00am.

Throughout the day, students will participate in the following athletics disciplines: Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus, 100m, and 200m. In addition, the 400m and 800m events will be available as optional races for students wishing to take part.

The carnival will conclude with a presentation at 1:00pm, where year group champions and the overall winning house will be announced.

Students are to wear their house shirt and appropriate athletic footwear. Students should also bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and a packed lunch.

Light refreshments and a range of drinks will be available – further details provided closer to the event.

Transport

Primary Athletics Carnival - parent transport is required.

Secondary Athletics Carnival - the school bus will run directly from Gympie to the event, parent transport is required for Nambour students.
