Update from the Campus Principal

The excitement is definitely building as we get ready to officially open our brand-new primary playground. It’s bright, colourful, and already turning heads—and once the teachers have finished their “quality testing” of the slide, I’m confident our primary students will absolutely love it!

In more good news, our covered basketball hardcourt will be underway shortly, with completion expected by the end of September. This will be a fantastic addition, giving our students a space to enjoy sport and outdoor activities without worrying about the weather—especially helpful on those rainy sports days.

A big thank you to our Campus Board for their support and commitment in making these projects happen. These improvements make a real difference to our students’ daily experience.

Back in the classroom, things are busy as we move through assessments and reporting. Our Year 7–10 students will begin their exam block on 16th June—so a little extra support at home can go a long way!

If you’re looking for some simple ways to help:

Plan ahead: Help your child map out their exams and study times so there are no last-minute surprises. Note: The structure for each exam day includes 2 periods of study followed by the exam followed by another 2 periods of study.

Encourage active study: If they can teach you what they’ve learned, they probably understand it.

Keep it positive: A bit of encouragement and reassurance can make all the difference in building confidence and easing nerves.

We wish our students all the very best with their exams and hope that their hard work and preparation pay off.

Secondary Student Kitchen
The secondary student kitchen is available for use by secondary students only during morning tea and lunch. We kindly ask that primary students do not bring food requiring heating using the toasted sandwich facilities.

And finally, a few key dates to keep on your radar:

Show Holiday – Friday 12th June and the Student Free Day – Friday 26th June

Volunteers Child Protection Webinar – Tuesday 16th June at 8:00pm

Last Day of Term – Friday 3rd July, finishing with a campus activities day at Apex Camps, Twin Waters

Update from Mrs Steele

Hello Primary Parents,

It feels as though it has been a very busy 2 weeks. Mission Nutrition was a huge success, and I hope the children came home with lots of stories of the day and some important messages about healthy eating. We will continue to look at this topic during our food technology assignment for the rest of the term.

During English lessons this past week, Year 3/ 4 have been writing a sequel to Storm Boy. A highlight of this has been creating our own front covers and drawing a watercolour pelican. Thank you to Mrs Jordan for adding this into her art program. Not to be outdone, the Year 5/6 asked if they could create watercolours of the symbols used in Rabbit, Soldier Angel Thief. I was very impressed with the artistic skills of the children.

We have now finished our Matter assignment in Science. We finished off by creating some boats powered by gas production! We decided that the ultimate boat needed 2 teaspoons of baking soda, a plastic straw, a better seal around the entry point, and a bigger pond to float in! We now move onto our Humanities assignment "How does Australia fit into the puzzle of the World". We have already had some interesting discussions on where they think certain countries are!

Coming up in week 7, we have our OSG Aware workshops on Thursday. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please see me.

With the colder weather, we have a lot of jerseys and jackets being worn to school. Please can these all be named clearly. Thank you.

Congratulations to those children who received their Bronze and Silver Housepoint awards. We already have some children very close to Gold, excellent work. Please continue to read at home and encourage the children to log into their online programs if they want more practice in any subject.
