Update from the Campus Principal

Our campus was buzzing on Friday as Mission Nutrition officially launched—and what a way to start! Our “mission leaders” (also known as teachers with a hidden flair for drama) entered morning briefing dressed as secret agents, strutting in to the Mission Impossible theme. Safe to say… the students were hooked immediately.

Before anyone could even catch their breath, students were ordered to drop and give us 10! Once recovered, the rules of engagement for the day were revealed—and the mission began.

From there, students were immersed in a range of engaging activities designed to build awareness around the importance of caring for their bodies. Central to the day were our four “fuel superpowers”—Jet, Brick, Spark, and Shield—each representing key elements of maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Personally, spending time in the sessions alongside our senior students and Mrs Richter was a real highlight. I walked away with a much stronger awareness of just how important it is to fuel our bodies well if we want to perform at our best—something I’m sure many of our students will also take with them.

A particular highlight was seeing students fully engaged in the learning process, with devices set aside as they participated in hands-on activities. The focus throughout the day was clear: the importance of nutritious food, regular physical activity, adequate rest, and overall wellbeing.

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to Lucelle Parsons and her team of volunteers, whose efforts in preparing a nutritious and enjoyable morning tea and lunch greatly contributed to the success of the day. We hope this encourages students to continue exploring healthy options available through our canteen.

New Primary Playground

In other exciting news, construction has commenced on our new primary playground. This colourful and engaging space will provide wonderful opportunities for play, connection, and active learning, and we look forward to its completion with great anticipation.

A reminder for families:
As we move into cooler weather, please note that sports hoodies are not to be worn with the formal uniform. We appreciate your support in maintaining our uniform standards.

Student recognition

Stay tuned for our May 'Student of the Month' recipients and 'Merit Certificate' achievers in the next edition of the newsletter!

Update from Mrs Steele

Hello Primary Parents,

Over Weeks 3 and 4 we have been looking at Matter in Science. We have been studying the properties of solids, liquids and gases and how they can change state. This has included some very cool experiments to test viscosity and density and reactions between certain substances. As you can see from the photos the children have been very engaged.

On Friday we had Mission Nutrition and, in the lead up to this, we have had some fun activities on offer for the students to raise the excitement. There has been fruit tasting, colouring competitions, and drawing activities. The girls in the photos below completed an anagram competition and won a prize from the Primary Prize Box. Following on from Mission Nutrition we are starting a Food Technology unit on Monday afternoons to continue our learning.

The winners of our Lego Lab competition were announced on campus. Well done to Huntley, Sybelle, Camie, Aurelia, Cienna and Denver. Their entry will be part of a video created by SLT and sent to the Global competition.

I was so impressed with the Mini History Museums. The effort that went into them was amazing, and it was very hard to choose a winner. Mr. Knight chose Sylvie Fooks for Year 5/6 and Jusdson Woodford for Year 3/4. I have passed on photographs of their entries for the regional finals. Good luck!

Reading at home

When the children read, this can be recorded in their diaries. Previously, the children received a house point if they had 3 or more nights completed. We are finding that the children are filling these into their diaries at the last minute, before the check on a Monday. As a result, we would like the week to be signed by a parent on a Sunday, to reflect that the reading has been done at home. If reading is done over the weekend, this can be filled in as well - the days don't have to correspond to when they read, I am more interested in them reading at least 3 times a week.

Over the weekend I have asked the Year 5/6 to read Chapters 13 and 14 for Monday's lesson. Please encourage them to complete this.
