Dear Parents,

We have had a wonderful couple of weeks since the last newsletter. The Ginger Factory trip last week was a definite highlight. We learnt a lot about bees and their environment, which linked well to our Science topic on sustainability. This was followed by learning about growing ginger and the history of the Ginger Factory. A hunt around the grounds and a bit of shopping completed the trip. Thank you to Mrs Hungerford for giving up her time.

We also had our first Gymnastics lesson of 2026. What a great opportunity it was to head down to PCYC and practise our rolling and handstands in such a great facility! Due to the clash with our book week parade, please note there is no Gymnastics in Week 6.

MAP testing will take place each day next week from Tuesday, in Periods 1 and 2. I know some children can get anxious about the testing, but please reassure them that we just want them to do their best and to ask me before, during and even after the test, if there is something they are worried about. IXL is a great way to practice for MAP and the children have been doing well this term on completing their study plans. IXL can be logged onto from home and all the children should have their log in in their diary.

Coming up in Week 6 we have Book Week. Please make sure that you read all information that has been sent home regarding Story in a Jar, dress up rules and other events we have planned. We look forward to welcoming you to school on Friday 28th August to share in our dress up parade.

On Friday 7 August, Year 11 and Year 12 Legal Studies students from the Maryborough, Toowoomba, Nambour and Brisbane campuses travelled to the Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law in Brisbane for a valuable real-world learning experience.

The highlight of the day was meeting an experienced criminal judge who has spent more than 30 years on the bench. With a great sense of humour, he shared stories from some of the most memorable cases of his career and gave students an insight into the challenges and responsibilities of judging criminal matters. Students also toured an empty courtroom and learned about the important roles played by judges, barristers, solicitors, court staff and juries.

Students then had the opportunity to observe several court proceedings, including a negligence case involving a tug-of-war incident, as well as other civil matters and appeal hearings. By watching real cases unfold, students gained a deeper understanding of how complex and technical the legal system can be and the importance of evidence, procedure and legal argument.

The excursion was both engaging and educational, bringing classroom concepts to life and helping students develop a greater appreciation for the way Queensland's courts operate. Thankfully, the only people appearing before the judge that day were the professionals, and our students returned with plenty of new knowledge and a few interesting courtroom stories of their own!

Thank you for your patience while the new front fence at the Nambour Campus was constructed at the beginning of Term 3.

Our OneSchool Global sign is now nearing completion and will be installed shortly. We look forward to sharing photos of the finished entrance in the next edition of the newsletter.

We are pleased to advise that the automated school gate is now fully operational and functioning as normal.

We are pleased to share with parents and families, the launch of OSG's Experience the Joy of Teaching campaign, which aims to tell the OSG story and attract great teachers to our campuses across the globe.

The campaign features a television commercial style film that was filmed at our Sydney campus in the April school holidays.

The Experience the Joy of Teaching theme was inspired directly by feedback from OSG teachers, many of whom say that joining OneSchool Global helped them reconnect with what inspired them to become teachers in the first place: focusing on teaching and learning and helping students thrive.

The campaign will be used internationally across digital, social media and other advertising channels to introduce prospective teachers to the opportunities available at OneSchool Global.

More than a recruitment campaign, it is a celebration of the students, families and staff that make OSG such a special place to learn and teach.

The film has been tailored to each region with French, Argentinian-Spanish and German language versions, as well as Australian, New Zealand, British and North American voiceovers. You can view the various international versions of the film here.
