Melton Campus Update

Melton has been a very busy campus over the past few weeks, hosting a number of visitors who were eager to experience firsthand what others have been saying about the positive environment at our campus.

Many visitors comment that our campus has a “good vibe.” (the Melton Vibe). This atmosphere is created by our happy students, dedicated staff, and a shared commitment to learning. Our students are embracing this year’s focus on closing gaps in their learning and are demonstrating a strong willingness to engage in the process.

We were fortunate to welcome several guests recently, including Mr Paul Maher, Regional Director of Education; Mrs Louise Goette, Regional Director of Learning Support; and Mr Maher’s PA, Miss Nicole Doherty. On the same day, we also hosted Mrs Jodi Gordon, CP from the Adelaide campus. Our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) were on hand to tour the group around the campus and share plans for the Campus Master Plan (CMP).

Last Friday, we welcomed Mrs Mary Baxter, Regional Director of Teaching and Learning Secondary, along with her PA, Mrs Louise Johns. During their visit, they toured the campus and spent time in the Learning Centre speaking with students. It was evident that our students have a strong understanding of our Learning to Learn framework and are making excellent use of their study time.

Today, our students and SLT represented the school with great professionalism as they welcomed Mr Steve McGhie, Member for Melton, on his first visit to our campus. The visit was very positive, and our students were a credit to both the school and their families as they demonstrated our One School values throughout the tour.

I recently had the pleasure of spending two days in Sydney attending the annual CP and RHOD Leading Together Conference. The event focused on collaboration, team building, and showcasing the great work happening across our campuses. Many valuable ideas were shared, particularly around strengthening a culture of achievement and ensuring all students are supported in their learning journey.

As part of the conference, we toured the new Sydney campus, which was both magnificent and impressive. However, one of the key takeaways from the conference was that regardless of campus size, each school has wonderful initiatives and successes that we can learn from and celebrate together.

I would like to acknowledge Ms Carol Meekin and Mr Yogeen Sharma for stepping in as Acting CPs at Melton during our time away.

NAPLAN will commence next week, running from Wednesday to Friday. We encourage our students to approach the assessments with confidence and focus, recognising that NAPLAN provides an important benchmark against students across Australia. Melton students performed well last year, and in 2026 we are continuing to strengthen our focus on closing learning gaps across the campus.

Our SLT is also working extremely hard preparing for the upcoming RCH fundraising event. This year’s event will be slightly different, with less emphasis on parents doing the heavy work and more focus on activities and family fun. The theme will be the Melton Campus School Fair, offering something new and exciting compared with previous RCH fundraisers. Once again, the RCH has invited our students to visit the hospital to present the funds raised. The fundraising target is ambitious, but SLTs across the state are working collaboratively and are determined to achieve it.

The final weeks of term are particularly busy, with a number of subject assessments scheduled. We are encouraging our students to remain focused on meeting submission deadlines and to finish the term as strongly as they began. This period is an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their resilience, organisation, and ability to stay focused when managing competing demands. A life long skill they need as they move out of the school system and into business.

We are fortunate to have the amazing Ms Victoria Patenaude stepping into the Year 4 classroom during Mr K's Family leave .

Ms Patenaude has previously completed CRT work at OneSchool Melton and knows her way around our school community. We are confident she will do a fantastic job supporting our Year 4 students.

Additionally, Mr Key and Miss Huynh will be working closely with Ms Patenaude and the Year 4 class to ensure a smooth and successful term.

We were excited to tune into our very first AU Primary Assembly for 2026, bringing students together to kick off the year in a positive and energetic way.

During the assembly, students were formally introduced to our Regional Head of Department team, including Mrs Ellis! It was wonderful for students to meet the team who will be supporting their learning journey throughout the year

The energy in the room quickly lifted as students took part in a fun and engaging English Kahoot and a lively Maths Bingo session. There was certainly a mix of pressure and excitement in the air as students eagerly competed, cheered one another on, and celebrated their successes.

It was a fantastic way to start the year, setting a tone of enthusiasm, collaboration, and academic focus for 2026!

I'm a new paragraph block.

Our Year 3/4 students demonstrated their L2L skills as collaborators and creators by working together to design posters about what makes our campus the best. They shared their ideas about the teachers, resources, and learning experiences here at Melton. Below are two examples.

We are excited to announce that our Primary Library will be open for borrowing from Week 5! Students have already shown great enthusiasm and are eager to begin selecting their books.

Each student has received a library bag to help protect their reading books, complete with their individualised barcode attached. This will help students learn responsibility while keeping our books in excellent condition.

Every class will have a scheduled 20-minute session each week to visit the library, with students able to borrow up to 3 books at a time.

We encourage all students to continue developing their love of reading — keep turning those pages!

After a much anticipated wait the Year 12's were presented with their Jackets by our bright eyed Year 3 Students. The Jackets look great, were well worth the wait and are being worn with great pride!

At OneSchool Global AU, all Year 10 students complete the Certificate III in Business as part of their curriculum. This qualification equips students with practical skills in administration, communication, and workplace technology - essential tools for success in senior study, part-time work, and future careers.

Completing the Certificate III in Business helps students develop confidence, organisation, and a professional mindset. It provides a real-world context for learning and gives every student a head start in understanding the business world.

We are proud to offer this program as a core part of Year 10, ensuring all students gain these valuable skills and are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond. Students who complete all requirements will be awarded the national qualification - Certificate III in Business. Students who are only able to complete part of the qualification will still receive a statement of attainment, providing credit for the units they do achieve.

Your encouragement at home can make a real difference. We encourage parents to support their young person by discussing their learning, celebrating achievements, and encouraging them to apply the skills they are developing. Together, we can help every student succeed and make the most of this valuable qualification

Food tech has produced some amazing dishes and filled the lower learning centre with some magnificent scents. From imaginative breakfast creations, to blueberry scones the students have been very busy in the kitchen!
