Thank You for Partnering With Us
A sincere thank you to all the parents and students who attended our recent Parent-Teacher Interviews. We greatly value the opportunity to work together to support every student’s learning.
One topic came up again and again: motivation . How do we motivate our young people to do their best?
If only there were a magic button! The reality is that motivation comes and goes, a bit like Melbourne’s weather.
Through our Learning to Learn (L2L) Framework , we are teaching students something even more important than motivation: what to do when motivation disappears. We want students to develop grit, resilience, determination, and the learning strategies to tackle challenges, solve problems, and keep going when learning becomes difficult. This can take time but like most things in life, daily focused habits can lead to embedded ways of working.
Confidence does not usually come before success. It grows from putting in the effort, overcoming challenges, and realising, “I can do hard things.”
Thank you again for your ongoing partnership. Together, we can help our young people build the habits, strategies, and perseverance they need to thrive.
If you were unable to attend Parent-Teacher Interviews, or if one of your child’s teachers was unavailable on the night, we encourage you to reach out to them directly. Our staff are always happy to provide feedback on your child’s progress.
INTRODUCING THE NEW CAMPUS SUPPORT TEAM
We have been evaluating our campus volunteer team structure to ensure it best meets the needs of our campuses moving forward, and we’re pleased to share that the new model has been successfully piloted at our Sydney campus.
This global transition will see us phase out all Campus Board and Campus Administrator roles and transition to the new Campus Support Team (CST) model in line with the new school year.
The CST consists of three members aligned to a core pillar, with one of the three assigned as the CST lead, and I am pleased to introduce you to our new team:
- Tim Millott – CST Lead
- Leigh McAlpin – Pastoral Care
- Tim Millott – Culture
- Sam Cook– Buildings
Please join me in congratulating and welcoming the team to their new roles, from Day 1 Term 3.
Why the change?
- To reduce the burden on volunteers
- To provide clearer lines of accountability
- To ensure Campus Principals remain supported by the community in fulfilling their core responsibilities
- To maintain strong community support and to simplify the structure.
What’s not changing
- Campus support network remains the same
- Escalation pathways remain the same
- Student welfare processes remain the same
- Campus operations and expectations remain the same.
I want to sincerely thank all outgoing Campus Administrators Mark Chirnside and Campus Board members Marcus McMillan, Ronnie Earl, Bill Murray, Lloyd Chirnside, Brent Hornsey and Brad Millott, for their contribution and commitment to the Melton Campus. Their support has been invaluable.
Thank you all in anticipation for supporting this new initiative.
ELEMENTS OF CAMPUS CULTURE
A positive school campus culture is built on strong relationships between students, staff, and families, where wellbeing, respect, and a sense of belonging are actively promoted. A strong culture does not happen by chance. It is built when students, staff, and families share common expectations and work towards the same goals. When everyone is aligned, students receive consistent messages about attendance, behaviour, learning, wellbeing, and personal responsibility, creating an environment where success is more likely.
Every element of campus culture is important because no single area can deliver excellence on its own. Academic achievement, wellbeing, engagement, parent partnerships, staff performance, governance, and school pride work together to create a safe, supportive, and high-performing learning community.
For this reason, raising campus culture is everyone's responsibility. By actively supporting each element and holding ourselves accountable to shared expectations, we create a campus where students thrive, staff feel valued, families feel connected, and the whole community benefits from a culture of excellence.
