Update from the Campus Principal

From the Campus Principal

Dear Parents and Community,

Over the past fortnight, there has been a lot happening across the campus, with students engaging in a range of enriching learning experiences.

Our Primary students have been thoroughly enjoying LEGO Lab, where they have been developing problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration skills through hands-on design challenges. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and innovation in action.

Mission Nutrition was a highlight, bringing a strong focus on healthy lifestyles and positive choices. We extend our sincere thanks to our REMT members, Mrs Mary Baxter, Mrs Louise Goette, Mr Tom Percasky, and Mr Travis Hopgood, who joined us to launch Mission Nutrition globally. Their involvement and support added great value to the event and were appreciated by both staff and students.

A big thank you also to Chloe, Alana, and Sandy for their support in the canteen on the day, delivering a healthy menu aligned with the theme of the event. We also acknowledge our SLT for their organisation and efforts behind the scenes.

Year 10 students participated in Driver Awareness sessions, gaining important insights into road safety and responsible decision-making as they prepare for future driving. This was a valuable and timely learning opportunity.

In Secondary, students have been enjoying pickleball during sport, building skills while fostering teamwork and friendly competition.

We were also excited to welcome the arrival of our new laser cutter, which will provide further opportunities for creativity and practical learning across a range of subject areas.

It has been a fantastic fortnight of learning, engagement, and community connection.

Kind regards,

Mr Aaron Lehtonen

Primary Achievers - Creator Shout Out!

A big shout out to Bracken and Judd for the way they have been embracing our focus on Creating!

Both boys have shown fantastic creativity in their learning, coming up with original ideas and really thinking outside the box. It’s been great to see them take risks, try new approaches, and put thought into how they can improve their work.

They’ve also done a great job of staying engaged and seeing tasks through, showing that creating isn’t just about the idea — it’s about the effort and persistence behind it as well.

Keep it up, Bracken and Judd — it’s awesome to see you both stepping up and giving things a go!

Secondary Achievers - Commitment and Responsibility

A big shout out to Ariah for her fantastic work as part of the Marketing Team!

Ariah has shown amazing dedication and initiative in supporting Primary, particularly with the logo competition and the History competition. She has been incredibly reliable, organised, and always willing to step in and help wherever needed.

Her positive attitude and strong work ethic have made a real difference, and it’s been great to see the pride she takes in supporting others and getting the job done well.

Well done, Ariah!

Primary Science in Action: States of Matter

This week in Science, our Primary students have been exploring solids, liquids, and gases, and how these states can change during exciting reactions.

To bring our learning to life, we conducted two very memorable experiments!

First, we tried the classic Diet Coke and Mentos experiment. After carefully setting up and standing at a safe distance, we dropped the Mentos into the bottle… and WOW! A huge geyser of fizzy liquid burst into the air. Students were fascinated as they observed how gas rapidly formed and escaped, creating the impressive explosion.

We also created erupting volcanoes using simple materials. Students shaped a volcano from sand around a bottle, then added a mixture of baking powder, soap, and water. When vinegar mixed with red food colouring was poured in, a bubbling “lava” eruption flowed from the top!

Before the reaction, students thought like scientists by making predictions:

What will happen when the vinegar is added?

Why do you think this will happen?

These hands-on investigations helped students understand how substances can change state and produce gases during reactions. It was wonderful to see such curiosity, thoughtful predictions, and excitement as students connected their learning to real-world examples.

This week, our classroom didn’t just learn about science… it fizzed, bubbled, and erupted with it!

Exciting Arrival - Almost!

Just before morning tea on Thursday, a mysterious ute and trailer pulled into the car park. We get lots of deliveries and this was probably another. Then the writing on the side of the trailer came into view - Thunder Laser!

Yes, this was the delivery of the new laser cutter for Technology. The technicians spent the rest of the morning unpacking and installing the machine and Mr Muller waited eagerly to learn how to use it.

But then disaster! The mighty machine had a faulty part, no laser cutting today.

So now the story continues in the next newsletter as we wait for a new part and for Mr Muller to complete his training.
