PRIMARY TERM 2 WEEK 10

Primary excursion to the National Maritime Museum, Sydney:

Our primary students enjoyed a valuable excursion to the Australian National Maritime Museum. Despite the long bus trip, they were well behaved, engaged, and eager to learn.

Students explored the Migration Memories Tour, developing empathy and understanding of migrant experiences, and visited HMAS Vampire, where they learned about life at sea. They asked thoughtful questions and participated actively throughout the day.

It was a successful excursion that supported classroom learning, and the students represented the school with pride.

Potato Olympics:

Primary students had an unforgettable time participating in our very own Potato Olympics! The fun began with students creating their own “Potathletes”, complete with a unique potato nation and an imaginative backstory. Following an official opening ceremony and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron, coaches guided their athletes through a range of exciting events including bowling, gymnastics, figure skating, equestrian, ski jumping, diving, shot put and the 100m sprint. There was plenty of laughter, creativity and friendly competition throughout the day, with both coaches and athletes thoroughly enjoying this memorable event.

Spelling Bee - Primary

Our students were exceptionally well-prepared and eager to participate in the class rounds of this year’s Spelling Bee. Selecting the final group of competitors proved to be a challenging task for classroom teachers, reflecting the high standard across all year levels. Each cohort was strongly represented by four, and in some cases five, finalists.

The event saw students compete within their year groups, confidently spelling their words in front of judges, peers and guests. All participants handled the pressure with composure and determination, showcasing both their skill and resilience.

The word lists were drawn from the Spelling Mastery program, in which all students actively participate as part of their structured spelling development. To highlight the strength of our finalists, many of the words presented were selected from higher-level lists, demonstrating an impressive depth of knowledge.

Year 12 Preliminary Recognition
Congratulations to the following Year 12 students on their outstanding Preliminary course achievements:
Whitney Bird – Achieved Top in Subject for both Business Studies and Modern History, placed Third in Mathematics Standard and received a Higher Achiever Award.
Savannah Pridham – Placed Third in Subject for both English Standard and Food Technology.
We congratulate Whitney and Savannah on their dedication, hard work and excellent academic results.

Year 8 and 9 Science Practicals:

Year 8 - learning about Heat transfers - Students participating in an insulation practical, observing the difference in how effective certain materials are at maintaining temperature over a period of time.

Year 9 - learning about chemical reactions - Testing the pH of different substances using Universal indicator paper and observing the neutralisation reactions between Acids and Bases.

Year 8 Art:

Year 8 have been working on the Assignment "A Dragon's Tale". To complete the assignment, after they had finished their assessment tasks, Year 8 were allowed to explore clay structures once more along with their imagination. They are producing tiny houses using clay slabs, and they added a dragon to the house with techniques such as coils and carving and sculpting. What a way to finish the term. Some great works were produced.

OSG Persona Program 2026: Feedback month starts now!

The 2026 persona program, OneSchool Global’s annual feedback and development program will kick off in July across OSG’s Southern Hemisphere campuses. The Persona Program is an important activity on the OSG calendar supporting staff to reflect on their practice, build on strengths and continue to grow.

The program runs across three phases:

· Phase 1: Feedback 20 - 31 July 2026

· Phase 2: Development & Goal Setting 17 August - 11 September 2026

· Phase 3: Growth 14 September - end October 2026

Parents are an important part of this program. If selected to participate to share your feedback, you will receive an email on 20 July from Qualtrics asking you to complete a short questionnaire on your Campus Principal, teachers or other team members of the campus. All responses are confidential and reviewed alongside other feedback to ensure balance and fairness.

These interviews provide an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, strengths, and areas for development with their teachers. Your participation is vital to your child’s learning, and we strongly encourage all families to attend.

It is an expectation that students attend the interviews with you, as hearing feedback directly supports their learning, reflection, and goal setting. Students should attend interviews in full school uniform.

Appointments can be booked via the Parent Portal on Sentral.

Bookings will open on Monday 20th July and will close on Monday 27th July at 4:00 pm.

If you have multiple children with the same teacher, please ensure you make separate bookings for each child.

If you are unable to secure a suitable time or require a longer conversation, don't hesitate to get in touch with your campus, and we will be happy to arrange an alternative meeting.

Thursday 30th July is a pupil free day, allowing families the flexibility to attend scheduled interviews throughout the day.
