An important part of students developing as Self-Directed Learners is developing their understanding of The Learning Pit. The Learning Pit has been a key part of The Language of Learning at OSG.

The Learning Pit acknowledges that during a Learning Journey, students will not always have the answers straight away. Learning is not always comfortable and linear, and sometimes students must work through challenges and uncertainty before reaching their understanding.

When students identify that they are in the Learning Pit and can identify the strategies and tools that they need from their backpack to move forward, it becomes a powerful and rewarding moment in their learning journey.

Recently our Year 6 students were asked to create their own interpretation of the Learning Pit.

At the end of 2025 our then year 10 students were set a challenge to increase their academic achievement in both summative tasks and their semester 2 exams. Now they have commenced year 11 all students were set the challenge to consistently produce a high quality daily planner each day including their upcoming due dates for term 1. Title: Certificate III in Business: A Key Part of Year 10 at OSG

At OneSchool Global AU, all Year 10 students complete the Certificate III in Business as part of their curriculum. This qualification equips students with practical skills in administration, communication, and workplace technology - essential tools for success in senior study, part-time work, and future careers.

Completing the Certificate III in Business helps students develop confidence, organisation, and a professional mindset. It provides a real-world context for learning and gives every student a head start in understanding the business world.

We are proud to offer this program as a core part of Year 10, ensuring all students gain these valuable skills and are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond. Students who complete all requirements will be awarded the national qualification - Certificate III in Business. Students who are only able to complete part of the qualification will still receive a statement of attainment, providing credit for the units they do achieve.

We encourage parents to support their young person by discussing their learning, celebrating achievements, and encouraging them to apply the skills they are developing. Our senior students recently had the exciting opportunity to complete their Food Technology practical for their HSC courses at the newly open Sydney Campus. Year 11 and Year 12 students attended on separate occasions and thoroughly enjoyed working in the open-plan kitchen with stunning views of the local area.

Both groups had the challenge of mastering the art of making meringue. Year 11 prepared Lemon Meringue Pie, while Year 12 created Berry Meringue cupcakes. The experience provided a valuable opportunity for students to develop a new skill while working in a different kitchen environment.

Year 12 also practiced their knife cutting skills, food styling and photography skills while preparing a Blackened Salmon Salad. The final dishes looked impressive , and most importantly, tasted delicious.

To conclude the day, Year 12 students completed their Assessment cook. This was a particularly valuable experience as they were able to work alongside their Sydney classmates. The collaboration exposed our students to new ideas on what it is possible to achieve in a short cook, including innovative plating and styling ideas.
