Update from the Campus Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As we reach the end of Semester 1, our campus has been focused on examinations and the upcoming reporting period. This is a significant milestone in the academic cycle, providing an opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and reflect on their progress.

I would like to acknowledge the strong effort shown by students across Years 7–11 during the examination period. The approach taken; engaging with study time, preparing thoughtfully, and applying themselves during each exam has been commendable. Staff are now finalising reports, and these will provide a clear snapshot of each student’s achievement, effort, and next steps for learning as we move into Semester 2.

Activity Day and Community Dinner July 3

A reminder to families to please see the invitation recently sent regarding our upcoming Activity Day and Community Dinner. Following a full day of student activities, classrooms will be open to parents and community members, providing an opportunity to engage with student learning and connect with staff, followed by a community dinner and event.

Primary OSG Aware
Our Primary students are currently engaging in the OSG Aware program this term, with members of the Campus Support Team supporting sessions onsite.

This program aims to protect our young people by equipping them to:

- Understand their emotions and recognise how their body responds when they feel unsafe
- Identify safe and unsafe environments
- Develop the confidence to say “no” and remove themselves from risk
- Identify trusted adults who can support them

If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact me directly.

Examinations
Students in Years 7–11 have now completed their Semester 1 examinations. Across the campus, students demonstrated strong engagement with study time and a clear commitment to doing their best.

I would like to commend all students for their positive conduct throughout what can be a demanding and high-pressure week.

Child Protection & Safeguarding – Volunteers Webinar
Thank you to the many volunteers who attended the Child Protection webinar on Tuesday. This training is critical in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of both our students and our valued volunteers.

If you were unable to attend, please contact Tess Burgess (tess.burgess@au.oneschoolglobal.com) to access the recording and required follow-up quiz.

Buses
As part of preparation for the upcoming Community event, our campus buses will be in use. I would like to acknowledge Andrew Minnis, along with our bus coordinators and volunteers, for their significant work in servicing, repairing, and preparing the fleet.

Your ongoing commitment to maintaining these essential resources is greatly appreciated.

Assessment Expectations – Community Events
I would like to remind all families that as per Assessment Handbooks participation in community events does not constitute grounds for an extension or late submission to a task.

Students are expected to:

- Submit tasks prior to the due date, or
- Arrange an approved alternative submission where applicable

Loss of preparation time due to community commitments is not considered a valid reason for extension. Please contact class/subject teachers directly if you have any concerns.

Year 3 | Update

Year 3 Geography is a lot fun!

We have started an assignment called 'The Puzzle of Australia', looking at Australian states and territories, and also which countries are neighbours of ours.

We played a fun game with a partner- we tried to find where countries were with our eyes closed- it was harder than it looks!

Year 4 | Update

Year 4 students have thoroughly enjoyed exploring a range of watercolour and oil pastel techniques throughout the term.

They have been developing their skills in colour blending and experimenting with methods such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and wax resistance to create texture and depth in their artwork.

Using these techniques, students have produced vibrant and imaginative underwater scenes, showcasing their growing confidence and creativity.

It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and persistence as they refine their artistic skills and take pride in their finished pieces.

Year 7 | Geography

This term, Year 7 Geography students have been exploring the concept of Place and Liveability, developing their understanding of what makes a place a great place to live.

As part of their assessment, students worked collaboratively to design their own “ideal city,” applying their knowledge of environmental sustainability, access to services, cultural diversity, and community wellbeing.

Through creative planning and persuasive presentations, students demonstrated their ability to think critically about real-world challenges and propose innovative solutions for building more liveable communities.

We are incredibly proud of the effort, creativity, and teamwork shown by our Year 7 students, and we congratulate them on the high quality of work produced.

Indiana, Clementine and Harriet

Geordie, Lando, Bruno and Sidney

Year 9 | Commerce

This term in Year 9 Commerce, students took on the role of entrepreneurs, designing and creating their own innovative product and pitching it to investors in a “Shark Tank” style presentation.

One standout example was the Zone Tab, a creative classroom management tool designed to improve focus and communication between students and teachers. The product features a simple colour-coded light system, allowing students to signal when they are working independently (green) or when they need help (orange), reducing interruptions and supporting a more productive learning environment.

We congratulate Junior, Sherwin and Yorke, the students behind the Zone Tab, for their impressive innovation, teamwork, and thoughtful response to a real-world problem.

Their product reflects strong entrepreneurial thinking, creativity, and a clear understanding of how businesses can solve everyday challenges.

Stage 4 & 5 | Physical Education

This term has been an exciting one for Physical Education, supported by a NSW sporting grant that enabled the purchase of new equipment for the PDHPE faculty. As part of this initiative, Stage 4 students completed a four-week Netball program with a Netball Australia coach, developing their skills through engaging drills and gameplay. Students demonstrated outstanding effort and growth, with clear improvements in both skill level and confidence.

In addition, both Stage 4 and Stage 5 students have enjoyed participating in a variety of engaging activities, including the introduction of fun feature sports such as paddle tennis with Mr Kent and spikeball, which have been highly popular across both stages. In Week 7, Stage 5 students also took part in a Net/Wall unit featuring tennis coaching with Coach David Winely from The Illawarra Tennis Academy, where they demonstrated respectful attitudes and consistently positive behaviours.

To continue strengthening the PE department, Miss Pickles has also completed her Bronze Certificate in Athletics Coaching and Nutrition Coaching, further enhancing the opportunities, expertise, and support available to students in their physical education journey.
