Dear Illawarra Community,

As we reach the end of Term 1, I want to thank our students, families, and staff for the energy and commitment shown across the campus.

This term has been marked by strong engagement and connection, with students benefiting from rich learning experiences that reinforce our One School = One Student Experience vision. Highlights include the Primary Canberra Excursion, where students engaged deeply with Parliament and Questacon activities, and our Years 7–12 Face‑to‑Face Day in Sydney, which strengthened relationships between students and teachers and reinforced consistency across campuses. It's been a pleasure to host families onsite for various events this term and I trust that our new parents at the school receive positive news and updates when their children arrive home after school.

We have also seen wonderful displays of school spirit and participation, particularly at Athletics Day held at Beaton Park, where students demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and pride in representing Illawarra. These shared experiences continue to build a connected campus culture and support each student’s growth. I look forward to seeing this momentum continue next term as we deepen learning, connection, and opportunity for students.

A big congratulations to the following students, who have received 15 House Points, and a Bronze Merit Award. Great job going above and beyond to demonstrate the school values!

On Friday 27th March Primary students travelled to Canberra for an excursion to participate in educational programs at Parliament House and Questacon. Students gained real-world insights into democracy, law-making, and hands-on science learning which aligned with current areas if study.

The students had a wonderful time and came back to school with lots of smiles and enthusiastic stories about the day.

The day would not be a success though without the careful planning and support of so many people. We would like to sincerely thank Miss Jones for her thorough organisation of the day, Illawarra staff for travelling and supervising the students, and the many parent volunteers who gave up their time to transport students to and from Canberra. We appreciate the strong team effort that goes into making a great experience for the students. Thank you!

As a special treat to celebrate the end of term language studies, Miss Leitner organised for students to try authentic German soft pretzels.

Students really enjoyed the surprise and had lots of fun. They were delicious! Thank you Miss Leitner.

Mrs Jovanov's Year 7 & 8 Food Tech classes have been creating food hampers.

Students made their own preserves and condiments, packaged, labelled and presented them - and they look fantastic!

On Tuesday 24th March, students travelled to Beaton Park Athletics Centre to compete in the annual Athletics Carnival.

There was a lot of friendly competition between the new sport houses - Lions (green), Mustangs (red) and Bears (yellow)! And it was brilliant to see so many students enthusiastically participate in the events and encourage each other to do their best :)

After rainfall over the weekend, we were fortunate to have lots of sunshine for the day. A heartfelt thanks to all of the Illawarra Team and parent volunteers who braved the heat to run the events. And thank you to the volunteer bus drivers who transported students, the sausage sizzle volunteers, and the parents who attended the day to cheer the students on. Everyone's contributions help to make the day a success!

Today at the End of Term Campus Assembly, we had some very exciting announcements from the Athletics Carnival!

The overall winning house was: Bears!

Today we also celebrated students who had achieved 100% attendance in Term 1 with a pizza lunch from Domino's.

We look forward to celebrating again next term, so keep up the great attendance :)
