Update from the Campus Principal

We have had an amazing couple of weeks!

Students have really locked into their work. Primary students have been really engaged in their learning, using the Primary LC very well. Seniors have turned a corner this week with a much greater approach to their lessons and studies. All of this builds a really strong, positive culture.

Events this Fortnight:

SLT Meeting - where the SLT have presented their goals for the term ahead

Evacuation Drill – students and staff completed this effectively in six minutes

Lockdown Drill – excellent Lockdown with it taking 3 minutes for the school to be locked down.

Achievers Conference Recap - Years 10, 11 and 12 came together to share a motivational breakfast.

Special thanks to Mr Peter Arkcoll, Mr Ashley Brewer, Mr Cameron Arkcoll, Mr Shayne Crawshaw and Mrs Ainsley Crawshaw for attending the session. Students presented their take-away messages from the Achievers Conference and one action item moving forward.

Mission Nutrition - we conclude the week with a very engaging and entertaining day learning about health and wellbeing. Thank you to all the facilitators for their professionalism. Thank you to all volunteers who made the day happen.

Upcoming Events:

Stage 2 OSG Aware on 27 May

Athletics Carnival on 29 May

Stage 3 OSG Aware on 3 June

Staffing Update:

Miss Rachel Kennard will be taking a well-deserved Long Service Leave during Term Three.

While this will be a huge administration gap in the Campus, we have employed a Temporary COA for Term Three. Miss Brooke Murray will be joining the staff at OSGGC one day a week until the end of Term Two to have a hand-over with Rachel and to start getting used to our systems.

During Term Three, any communication that would usually go through Rachel will need to go through the School Phone (0477 388 312) or through the Admin Email (admin.goulburn@au.oneschoolglobal.com).

Any other concerns, as always, always feel free to reach out to myself. Rachel will commence back on Monday, 14 September. Congratulations on your 20 years here at OSGGC Rachel; we all hope you have a lovely Long Service Leave.

Primary Excursion: Ranger Jamie – Energy Changes & Properties of Matter

On Thursday, 14 May, Primary students attended an engaging and hands-on science excursion with Ranger Jamie in Shellharbour, exploring Energy Changes and the Properties of Matter.

Ranger Mani captivated students with a series of exciting experiments, giving everyone the opportunity to participate and learn through observation and inquiry. The session began with a visual demonstration of how gases work, as students helped inflate balloons and observed the changes taking place.

Students were particularly amazed by the liquid nitrogen experiment, where the addition of hot water created a dramatic reaction. They observed how extreme temperature changes can affect matter, including freezing effects and the production of gas powerful enough to inflate and pop balloons.

Throughout the day, students enthusiastically created slime, soda bags, air rockets, and chemical rockets. These activities were both fun and highly educational, encouraging curiosity and active participation.

This excursion provided a valuable opportunity to extend students’ understanding of solids, liquids and gases, building on the concepts explored in their Science lessons. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for learning, and we commend our students for their excellent behaviour and engagement throughout the day.

Thank you, also, to our wonderful volunteer drivers.
