Hello and welcome to this week’s newsletter,

I hope you enjoy the photos from our “Anything But a Backpack Day.” I have been involved in a few of these over the years, but I have never seen such a high level of creativity. I must admit, I am somewhat relieved that the idea of bringing in an aluminium tinny came from a bus traveller—meaning it couldn’t actually happen! Congratulations to our winners, who are announced later in the newsletter, although this was truly an event where everyone was a winner. Well done to all involved.

I received a phone call yesterday from the Campus Principal at Leeton, who spoke glowingly about Carter Mansley and Orlando Salter following their recent excursion. Earlier in the week, another Campus Principal also shared how much their off-site teachers enjoyed working with our Condobolin students. In addition, feedback from the Primary Maths Day was very positive. I would like to sincerely thank these students who represent the face of our school so well and continue to build our reputation in the wider community. You should be very proud.

Please also keep Friday, July 3 in your calendar. This will be a wonderful opportunity to come along and see the talents of Condobolin and Mt Victoria students showcased. Our students, along with Nikita, have already invested a significant amount of time and effort into preparing for the day. From what I have seen so far, there are some outstanding performances in store, and it would be fantastic to see a strong crowd there to support them.

On June 18, we will be welcoming several important visitors to the school, including Mr Harvey Seeley, Mr Paul Maher, and Mr Scott Cantrill. During their visit, they will be observing the work taking place at Condobolin, speaking with students and staff, and providing valuable feedback. I look forward to welcoming them onsite. If there is anything you would like raised during their visit, please let James or myself know so we can follow up.

Our students enthusiastically took part in National Simultaneous Storytime this week, joining thousands of children across Australia to share the joy of reading together at the same time. This year’s featured book, Luna Roo, captured students’ imagination and sparked plenty of discussion.

In Term 1 and 2 Primary participated in the Lego Design Challenge. We split into 3 groups, The Claw Masters, The Hefty Lifters and The Legends. Each group had to come up with a problem and solve it using the Lego Spike Kit. The groups had to design their robot, build it and Code what they wanted the robot to do. Each group should be proud of their efforts as they all had excellent robots and overcame design and building challenges and coding issues. The winner for our campus was The Hefty Lifters!

On Tuesday Primary went to Wagga for World Math Day. Going to Wagga was fun! Stage 2 got to go to the hall to do the Math activities first. While Stage 3 waited, Mrs Miles and Mr Jandric took us to the Primary room where we got to chose a partner and write a funny story. Then we had recess. Then it was our turn to do the Math activities. The hall was set out with different challenges on each table. We had to pick a partner from a different Campus so we were working with someone new. It was not the kind of maths I thought it would be, but we were having a lot of fun! The activities were made to challenge our brains to think differently to solve Math problems. It was excellent! After that we had lunch and a play outside, then it was time to go home.

Thank you to Narelle Buckland, Jessica Mansley and Lee-Anne Mann for helping transport students to Wagga!

Year 8 Art students have been getting their hands dirty this week, working with clay to create the second of three artworks in their “Dragon’s Tale” unit.

Through this process, students explored texture, depth and creativity, producing impressive sculptural pieces. Across the unit, they have demonstrated their skills in three different mediums—drawing, sculpting and mosaic—each time creating a unique dragon-inspired artwork.

Students from Condobolin, Wagga, Albury, and Leeton came together at Leeton campus to race their Co2 cars. Thank you to Brit Small for helping transport the students!

The kitchen has been a busy muffin factory over the past two weeks, with both Year 7 and Year 8 students showcasing their baking skills.

The Year 7 boys prepared savoury cheesy zucchini muffins as part of their planning for an upcoming event at the end of the term. Meanwhile, the Year 8 girls baked delicious chocolate-blueberry muffins, creatively substituting eggs and milk with apple sauce—an excellent alternative for managing allergies or when key ingredients are unavailable.

Year 10 have been putting the finishing touches on their Paddock to Plate documentary. A big thank you to members of the community who helped source Dutch carrots so this task could be completed. The final dish - honey roasted Dutch carrots with whipped feta, accompanied by carrot-top pesto - was a creative demonstration of how to use the entire vegetable.

Last week, Year 12 students cooked a flavourful red curry chicken with noodles.

This week, they took a break from cooking and instead engaged in a comparison of commonly purchased food products. Chips, biscuits, and energy drinks were all put to the taste test, with students analysing similarities and differences between brands.

Carter and Orlando travelled to Leeton campus on Thursday to join Wagga and Leeton students in a class debate for their summative assessment task which is due in week 6. Thank you to Annie Salter for helping transport the students!

This Friday (5th June) the SLT organised an "Anything but a Backpack day". It was a great success and a winner from both Primary & Secondary were chosen. Congratulations to Ebony & Kingston (view their "backpacks below!) 🎉

The Show of Arts day is now only 4 weeks away and the students here at Condobolin are busy preparing their performances. The RSVP spreadsheet was sent out earlier this week so book your seat to come to the day!!😁

Students are to wear their full winter uniform.

Photo envelopes have been sent home with students. Orders can be placed online ‘www.msp.com.au’. Record your child’s reference number on the envelope and return to school office.
