Hello and welcome to this fortnight's newsletter.

Another busy fortnight has passed, bringing us to the halfway point of Term 3 and just two weeks away from the end of winter. While it has been a quieter period in terms of major events, there has still been plenty happening across the campus, with students engaged in activities and learning opportunities specific to their year levels.

For our Year 12 students, the current focus is firmly on their trial examinations. This is an important stage in their final year of schooling, and I commend them for the effort and commitment they are showing as they prepare for their HSC exams.

Last Friday, students in Years 7-11 participated in an AI Training Day. Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming a part of everyday life, and it is important that students learn how to use these tools effectively, responsibly, and ethically. Thank you to our teachers for their preparation and delivery of the program, and to the students for the positive way they engaged throughout the day. Along with some enjoyable activities, the program provided practical skills and greater confidence in using AI as a tool to support learning.

On Friday afternoon, our Year 12 students also completed First Aid training. While I am reliably informed that a few students may have been a little enthusiastic during the CPR component, the overall level of participation was excellent. Students developed valuable skills that we hope they never need to use, but which could one day make a significant difference in an emergency situation.

I have also enjoyed spending some time teaching in Primary recently. The energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to be involved are always refreshing. It is particularly pleasing to see students developing an understanding of the different aspects of our learning model, including lessons, study sessions, and tutorials. Building these habits and understandings from an early age helps foster independence, responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning.

Over the coming weeks, we will welcome representatives from Work Health and Safety and Operations for routine campus visits. These visits help ensure that we remain compliant in all required areas while continuing to provide a safe and supportive environment for students and staff. If you notice anything on campus that may require attention, please use the Donesafe QR code to report a hazard. As always, I would like to thank our staff, students, parents, and wider community for their support of the many activities and events that take place throughout the term. Their contribution has already been greatly appreciated.

Choir has continued this term, with students learning some new songs and building their confidence in performing. While rehearsals can be lively at times, students are showing enthusiasm and making good progress. A special thank you to Nikita for volunteering her time to support our choir program. Her help is greatly appreciated.

Our Year 12 students have taken another important step towards entering the workforce by successfully completing their First Aid Training this afternoon. This training has equipped students with valuable practical skills and the confidence to respond appropriately in an emergency. First Aid is a useful workplace skill to take with them when they enter the workforce. Tod was very impressed with the behaviour and engagement of our students in the course. Congratulations!

Year 12 Legal Studies students (Bebe & Sylvie) visited the High Court of Australia last Wednesday with their class and teacher. It was a great day and very beneficial in view of the HSC Trial exam on Thursday.

Year 7 students explored using Australian ingredients in their Flavours of the World assignment by using a pie maker to bake kangaroo pies. The low fat, high iron kangaroo mince was cooked with onion, stock and tomato sauce to create a tasty filling, then thickened with a little flour. before being encased in shortcrust and puff pastry. The pies were served bush tomato relish, to give them a true Australian taste. Later this term, students will apply their skills and creativity to design and prepare a pie of their choice.

Year 8 students have explored more options for their Healthy Bento Box Challenge by creating a Mexican taco bento box using kangaroo mince instead or the traditional beef mince. The mince was cooked with a Mexican spice blend and accompanied with a fresh salsa of tomato, cucumber, corn and red onion, some Mexican blend cheese, a tasty guacamole, baby spinach and crunchy corn chips. This practical activity provided valuable ideas about balance, nutrition and presentation, helping students develop their own healthy bento boxes later in the term.

Year 10 have started their Modern Food Trends assignment with a busy practical preparing a vegetarian Mexican wellness bowl, Korean bulgogi beef bowl and sticky Korean chicken - all served with rice and salads. The enticing aroma of the food drew many students and teachers to the kitchen to discover what was on the menu!

Year 12 completed the practical component of their Food Product Development assessment task by creating cookie recipes designed to help a company expand its product range into new markets. The project extended to designing and creating packaging as well as including nutritional information panels about their cookies. In their second practical they used their frozen vegetables, dried apples and ice cream from their earlier Food Manufacture practicals to make a quick meal with a main of sweet and sour fish served with rice, followed by apple turnovers with vanilla bean ice cream for dessert.

We are pleased to share with parents and families, the launch of OSG's Experience the Joy of Teaching campaign, which aims to tell the OSG story and attract great teachers to our campuses across the globe.

The campaign features a television commercial style film that was filmed at our Sydney campus in the April school holidays.

The ‘Experience the Joy of Teaching’ theme was inspired directly by feedback from OSG teachers, many of whom say that joining OneSchool Global helped them reconnect with what inspired them to become teachers in the first place: focusing on teaching and learning and helping students thrive.

The campaign will be used internationally across digital, social media and other advertising channels to introduce prospective teachers to the opportunities available at OneSchool Global. More than a recruitment campaign, it is a celebration of the students, families and staff that make OSG such a special place to learn and teach.

The film has been tailored to each region with French, Argentinian-Spanish and German language versions, as well as Australian, New Zealand, British and North American voiceovers. You can view the various international versions of the film here.
