Update from the Campus Principal

Dear parents,

It has been a full and productive period across the campus, with strong engagement from students and staff in a range of learning experiences.

Our Year 8 Technology Race Day was a standout. Students travelled in from Nambour, Maroochydore and Toowoomba to join us, bringing great energy and a competitive edge to the day. The pace was impressive, and it was excellent to see creativity and problem-solving on display under pressure. Thank you to staff for the organisation and smooth running of the event, and congratulations to Marlia on the win.

Our Brisbane Student Leadership Team’s visit to the Sydney Campus was a clear success. They represented our campus with professionalism and maturity and made us proud. The way they approached the opportunity reflects the growth we are seeing in our student leaders, and we look forward to that continuing to translate into meaningful impact back on campus.

Across the primary years, students engaged in OSG Aware sessions, building their understanding of safe, respectful and responsible choices. It was also a pleasure to welcome families to our Primary Mini Museum - thank you to the many parents who came along to support and celebrate student learning.

As we move into an important phase of the term, our focus is firmly on academics. Assessments are being completed, reports are being compiled, and Year 7 - 10 exams will take place in Week 8. This is a time for students to show diligence, consistency and pride in their work, and to strive for excellence in all they do.

A reminder that, following direction from OSG Regional Leadership, student drivers are not permitted to transport other students, except for siblings, under any circumstances. We recognise this may require some adjustment for families and appreciate your cooperation in ensuring we meet this expectation.

Thank you for your continued support as students work through this important part of the term.

Student recognition

Cheyanne Buckland Year 10

Cheyanne is enjoying being in Year 10, as she is part of a strong, supportive, and close-knit group who consistently encourage one another. She values the positive environment this creates and the way it helps everyone feel connected and motivated in their learning.

“My favourite subjects are Sport, Mathematics and Art because they allow me to challenge myself in different ways. I enjoy staying active in Sport, applying problem-solving skills in Mathematics, and expressing my creativity through Art”.

“I am looking forward to Years 11 and 12, where I hope to take on a school leadership role. I am striving to contribute positively and help shape the culture of our school community”.

Cheyanne is being recognised by all her teachers for her dedication to her studies so far this year. Well done, Chey, keep up this fantastic momentum!

Goodbye Mrs Jackson

Primary celebrated a much‑loved member of our team this week as she prepares to move on from OSG.

She has played a meaningful role in shaping their Primary experience, and our students showed their gratitude by personally asking to lead a special farewell celebration in her honour.

Primary Soccer Coaching

Primary students also began their soccer sessions this week. We are lucky to have specialised coaches working with the groups, introducing a range of fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, ball control and simple attacking and defending techniques. They are also running game‑based activities designed to help students grow in confidence and apply these skills in real play.

SLT Update

The week got off to a great start with Monday Mashup, where the Mustangs secured the win and set the tone for an exciting week ahead.

With assessments due and exams fast approaching, we encourage all students to stay focused and make the most of their study time. Remember to plan your week and submit your plans to your Homeroom teacher each Friday.

This week, the Student Leadership Team had the privilege of visiting the Sydney campus to collaborate with student leaders, share ideas, and learn new ways to strengthen our campus community.

Looking ahead, we are excited to host our Fight MND fundraising event on the last day of term. Be sure to pre-order your beanie before orders close on Friday 12 June. We are aiming to raise $5,000 for Fight MND, so please consider donating and sharing the fundraising link with family and friends.

With Week 7 ahead and exam week just around the corner, keep working hard and finish the term strong.

On Friday the 3rd July (last day of term), the SLT at Brisbane Campus is hosting a Fundraising Day for the MND foundation.

As a school community we are striving to donate $5,000 towards finding effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.

Below is a link to purchase a FightMND beanie - $15.00 each.

The beanies can be worn on the event day, and will be given to students the day before. (this amount is not included in the $5,000 target) ORDERS CLOSE NEXT FRIDAY THE 12th JUNE!

As this is an awesome opportunity to FIGHT FOR THE CAUSE we would like to get all people in our school community involved. Below is a link that can be shared to family and friends in which they can donate to. Any amount is appreciated!

More details on the event day will be sent to parents and students next week, it is a day to look forward to!

If you have any questions, you can reach out to the SLT.

Thank you for your support!

Technology - Year 8 Race Day

Science

In Science, the Year 8 students have been learning about energy and have been busy designing, and building their own Rube Goldberg machines using recycled materials. Throughout the process, they explored different forces and forms of energy and were highly engaged in their learning. All students successfully incorporated multiple energy transfers into their designs.

Food Technology

This term, the Year 7 students have been exploring a variety of muffin and cupcake recipes. They successfully planned, prepared, and presented a thoughtful “thank you” surprise for Ms Jackson, our wonderful teacher aide, who is retiring. I was incredibly proud of all the Year 7 students for their determination and the skills they demonstrated throughout the process.
