Dear parents,

As we reach the end of Semester One, I want to reflect on what has been a rewarding and successful six months for our campus. It has been a semester filled with learning, growth, achievement and many moments that have made us proud of our students. Thank you to every student, staff member and family who has contributed to making our school such a positive place to learn and belong.

One of the greatest strengths of our campus is our community. The partnership between home and school plays a vital role in helping our students thrive, and we are grateful for the support we receive from our families each day.

It was wonderful to see so many parents join us for our first Parent Zoom Assembly this week. We look forward to building on these opportunities to connect and celebrate together.

Next term's Parent Teacher Interviews in Week 2 will provide a valuable opportunity to strengthen home-school partnerships, while our fortnightly Zoom Homeroom Assemblies will continue to build connection across our community.

I would also like to thank the many parents and volunteers who have supported our campus throughout the semester. Whether assisting behind the scenes, supporting events, helping in our canteen or contributing in other ways, your generosity helps make Brisbane Campus the special community that it is.

I also want to acknowledge our remarkable staff. Every day they demonstrate professionalism, care and an unwavering commitment to our students. Their dedication and genuine care help ensure every student is supported to learn, grow and become life-ready.

This term we farewelled Ms Sharon Jackson from her permanent role, although we are pleased she will remain connected to our campus on a casual basis. We also welcomed Ms Jackie Hinchy as our Campus Office Administrator – Student Services, and more recently Mr Thomas Valle, who joined the team this week as a Student Support Assistant.

To our students, congratulations on everything you have achieved this semester. Whether your success has been academic, sporting, artistic or personal, you should be proud of the effort you have invested.

Today's Origin Day was a fitting way to conclude the semester, showcasing the enthusiasm, school spirit and generosity of our students. A particular highlight was the Big Freeze fundraiser, with our campus community raising more than $5,000 for FightMND. Special thanks to our Student Leadership Team, who planned, organised and led all aspects of the day, and to the many students, staff and community members who helped make the event such a success.

Semester1 reports are available from today: I encourage every student to reflect on their progress. Celebrate your successes, but also consider:

Did I consistently give my best effort?
• Did I challenge myself to improve?
• What goals do I want to achieve next semester?

As we look ahead to Semester Two, the next round of MAP assessments in Term 3 will provide another chance to measure growth and celebrate progress.

Throughout this semester we have continued refining our Campus Expectations. These are not simply rules to follow - they are standards that help create a positive learning environment and support every student to reach their potential. Built around the themes of Respect People, Learn with Purpose, Present with Purpose, Care for Our Campus and Take Ownership, they provide a clear framework for success both at school and beyond.

Our hope is that students do not simply ask, "What do I have to do?" but instead ask, "What kind of person do I want to become?" When viewed through that lens, our expectations become more than standards - they become a pathway to growth, success and fulfilment.

Thank you once again for a wonderful semester. I wish all of our students, families and staff a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back when school returns on Tuesday 21 July, refreshed and ready for another exciting semester of learning together.

Term 2 has been another exciting and rewarding term in Primary, filled with engaging learning experiences, hands-on investigations, and wonderful opportunities for students to grow both academically and personally.

We were delighted to welcome Mr Cott to our Primary team this term. He has quickly become a valued member of our school community, sharing his passion for Physical Education, hands-on Science, and supporting our Year 5/6 students alongside Ms Meredith.

Students enjoyed a wide variety of learning experiences across all subject areas. Highlights included our Mini Museum Showcase, engaging science experiments, novel studies, challenging problem-solving activities, and opportunities to learn about our neighbouring countries and the wider world.

Science was a particular highlight, with students exploring the properties of matter through exciting hands-on investigations. They made predictions, conducted experiments, and discovered how solids, liquids, and gases behave. From creating reactions with Mentos and soft drink, testing the viscosity of different liquids, inflating balloons using temperature changes, and propelling mini boats through water, students enthusiastically embraced the role of young scientists.

Students also participated in the Mission Nutrition and OSGAware programs, developing a deeper understanding of healthy lifestyle choices, personal wellbeing, and strategies to stay safe in different situations.

Technology and innovation continued to thrive through our LEGO Spike activities, where students developed their coding, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Our Food Technology program further supported learning about nutrition as students explored healthy eating concepts and experimented with a variety of foods to test their senses.

It has been a term filled with curiosity, creativity, and meaningful learning. We are incredibly proud of our students for their enthusiasm and dedication, and we thank our staff and families for their ongoing support.

We look forward to an exciting and successful Term 3 ahead.

As we wrap up a fantastic term in Year 5/6, we continue to reflect on and adapt our learning spaces to support all learners. Students have access to a variety of environments, including studio spaces, quiet rooms, collaborative areas, and brainstorming zones. These flexible spaces encourage creativity, teamwork, independence and focused learning, helping students choose the environment that best supports their success.

A Message from the Student Leadership Team

What a fantastic way to finish the semester with our annual Origin Day! Congratulations to the Blues and Maroons on an exciting match that finished in a tie, and to our Year 10 and Year 11 students for their strong performances.

One of the highlights was the Big Freeze, where students had the opportunity to dunk teachers and community members, all while raising money for a great cause. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our campus community, we raised over $5,800 for FightMND. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make the event such a success.

Another memorable moment was the annual staff versus student volleyball match, with the Year 12 students claiming a well-earned victory over the staff.

As we wrap up a busy and successful semester, we would like to thank all students and staff for their support, enthusiasm and school spirit throughout the term. We hope everyone enjoys a safe, restful and well-deserved break. Looking ahead, we're excited for what next term will bring, including our upcoming Toy Drive, which we know will once again showcase the generosity and community spirit of our campus.

Year 7 and 8 students concluded the term by baking gingerbread, building their skills in rolling dough, cutting precise shapes, and decorating their creations with creativity and flair. We are excited to begin new assignments next term, including bento boxes, pies, and exploring modern food trends.

This term Year 9 have explored a range of different poems from various contexts. After completing a comparative essay and undertaking the examination, the students turned their hand to writing poems in a variety of forms. This is an example of what was created.

QCIA Students Take on the $10 Meal Challenge

As part of their Financial Literacy Assignment, our QCIA students have been developing essential life skills by exploring topics such as budgeting, superannuation, reading payslips, understanding tax rates, and the cost of living.

To put these skills into practice, students completed the $10 Meal Challenge. Their task was to research a recipe, create an online shopping basket using Woolworths, and ensure the total cost stayed within a strict $10 budget.

The following day, students brought their planning to life by preparing and presenting their meals to our esteemed judges – Mr Barrett, Mr Percasky, and Mr Price. The judges were incredibly impressed by the creativity, presentation, and cooking skills on display, making the final decision a difficult one.

Congratulations to Leo Rowland, whose delicious Asian noodle dish took out the top prize! Well done to all of our QCIA students for demonstrating fantastic budgeting, planning, and cooking skills while tackling a real-world financial challenge.

Wednesday 29th July

Face‑to‑Face interviews: 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm

Thursday 30th July

Secondary – Online only: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Primary – Face‑to‑Face or Online: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

These interviews provide an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, strengths, and areas for development with their teachers. Your participation is vital to your child’s learning, and we strongly encourage all families to attend.

Please find key information below:

It is an expectation that students attend the interviews with you, as hearing feedback directly supports their learning, reflection, and goal setting. Students should attend interviews in full school uniform.

Appointments can be booked via the Parent Portal on Sentral.

Bookings will open on Monday 20th July and will close on Monday 27th July at 4:00 pm.

If you have multiple children with the same teacher, please ensure you make separate bookings for each child.

If you are unable to secure a suitable time or require a longer conversation, don't hesitate to get in touch with your campus, and we will be happy to arrange an alternative meeting.

Thursday 30th July is a pupil‑free day, allowing families the flexibility to attend scheduled interviews throughout the day.

Dear parents,

As you will be aware, there has been two information sessions regarding 2027 Subject Selection for our current Year 10 students.

Part of this process is a meeting between parents, students, Mr Percasky, Mrs Geldenhuys and Mr Barrett. These meetings last approximately 30 minutes and will be held onsite here at Brisbane Campus. We encourage both mum and dad to join where possible.

The dates and times for the Brisbane meetings are in Term 3 as per below:
