It has been a wonderful first week at the Brisbane Campus. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting with staff, students, families, Campus Administrators Caleb Hyslop and Ben Millar, members of the School Board, and our Student Leadership Team as I begin building strong relationships across our community. It is already abundantly clear that Brisbane is a high‑performing and highly connected campus, characterised by dedicated professionals and students who consistently demonstrate our student personas in their daily learning.

I would also like to acknowledge the excellent leadership of former Campus Principal, and now Regional Principal, Tom Percasky. Tom is a fantastic person and an outstanding educator. I am working closely with him to ensure a seamless transition, and I am grateful for his guidance and ongoing support.

As your new Campus Principal, I am excited to lead our school toward achieving excellent outcomes for all students.

A Few Important Updates

MAP Reports Released Today
MAP reports are being sent out today. When you review these with your child, I encourage you to do two things:

Celebrate their progress. Every gain matters and deserves recognition.

Discuss their goals for growth. Ask what targets they have set and how they plan to achieve them.

A reminder that IXL is an excellent support tool for strengthening student achievement. Because it links directly to each student’s MAP results, IXL provides personalised practice questions that target their individual areas for development.

It is a privilege for me to be part of the SLT at Brisbane Campus. We are an ambitious group that wants to leave a positive mark at OneSchool Global. I enjoy being able to contribute to improving the culture and student wellbeing at OSG. I am looking forward to finalizing my academic achievements in my last year here.

To support the current HASS assignment, students recently enjoyed an exciting excursion to Parliament House. The day began with a presentation about the three levels of government in Australia — local, state and federal — and how the Westminster system works. After a quick cookie and juice break, we explored key areas of the building, including the Senate Chamber (Red Room), the House of Representatives (Green Room), committee rooms, and the Parliamentary Library. Wey also learned about the Cabinet Room, members’ offices, the public galleries, and the ceremonial Mace that symbolises the authority of the Speaker.

The visit finished with a fun role-play activity in the Green Room, where some lucky students took on official parliamentary roles such as the Speaker and the Sergeant-at-Arms. Together they held a lively mock debate about whether bananas should become the new emblem on the Australian flag — a highlight that had everyone laughing while learning how parliamentary debates work.

At OneSchool Global AU, all Year 10 students complete the Certificate III in Business as part of their curriculum. This qualification equips students with practical skills in administration, communication, and workplace technology - essential tools for success in senior study, part-time work, and future careers.

Completing the Certificate III in Business helps students develop confidence, organisation, and a professional mindset. It provides a real-world context for learning and gives every student a head start in understanding the business world.

We are proud to offer this program as a core part of Year 10, ensuring all students gain these valuable skills and are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond. Students who complete all requirements will be awarded the national qualification - Certificate III in Business. Students who are only able to complete part of the qualification will still receive a statement of attainment, providing credit for the units they do achieve.

Your encouragement at home can make a real difference. We encourage parents to support their young person by discussing their learning, celebrating achievements, and encouraging them to apply the skills they are developing. Together, we can help every student succeed and make the most of this valuable qualification.

Senior Cooking

The senior cooking students have been developing their bread-making skills in the kitchen. They have prepared focaccia and taken on the challenge of making both sweet and savoury bagels, which require a more advanced technique.

Year 8

The Year 8 students designed and prepared their own healthy breakfast options, specifically aimed at fuelling the teenage brain. They made thoughtful ingredient swaps, such as replacing vegetable oil with olive oil and choosing wholegrain breads over white varieties, to enhance nutritional value. Students also explored the key vitamins essential for teenage growth, development and sustained energy. Their creations were outstanding!

Year 9 and 10

The Year 9 and 10 students are currently creating items for their gourmet hampers, using a range of food preservation techniques such as dehydrating and pickling. Each hamper showcases a unique theme with thoughtfully chosen ingredients, and the quality of work produced so far has been outstanding. Next on the agenda, students will focus on labelling and presenting their hampers to a professional standard.

Year 7

The Year 7 students continued their culinary journey this week by mastering the art of scone making. Over the coming weeks, they will be embarking on an exciting focaccia baking adventure, where they will design and decorate their own edible masterpieces in a creative project we’re calling “Van Dough.” We can’t wait to see their artistic flair come to life through beautiful bread designs!

The Year 10 students visited Coochiemudlo Island as part of our Assignment on Coastal Change and Management, the purpose of our fieldwork was to examine the ways in which the Island has experienced environmental change and develop strategies to ensure the longevity and sustainability of this wonderful island and its community.

We are excited to begin the Enrichment Program for our Year 10–12 students. This program provides a valuable opportunity for senior students to take greater responsibility for their learning as they move into their final years of school.

The Enrichment Program aims to:

Build strong time‑management and organisational skills

Encourage students to become more independent learners

Provide a quiet, focused environment with minimal distractions

Help students make the most of their study time and prepare for life beyond school

Today, our Year 10–12 students took part in an Enrichment Program orientation session. This helped them understand the purpose of the program and the expectations they will need to follow.

Students have been given the documents needed to enrol in the program, including the Student Enrichment Contract. This contract must be signed by a parent/carer and clearly outlines what is expected of students while participating in Enrichment.

Choosing an Enrichment Day
Students are expected to select one day each week that is most suitable for them to be off campus.
They should ensure:

They do not have any practical subjects on that day

They do not have assessment scheduled

They are working by themselves and not with other students

Their chosen day allows them to make the best use of their study time

Year 10 Students will start with on Enrichment Day per fortnight

Planning Requirements
To participate, students must create and submit an effective Enrichment Plan outlining how they will use their Enrichment Day.

We have high expectations around:

Completing and submitting this plan

Using the time productively.

Attending any scheduled classes or commitments on Enrichment days

Expectations are outlined in greater detail in the Student Enrichment Contract.

It is important to note that Enrichment days are not a compulsory program. Students can choose to participate or not.

We are aiming to begin the Enrichment Program in Week 6.

The Secondary Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday, 1 April, at the University of the Sunshine Coast Athletics Track. Students are asked to arrive from 8:30am, with official announcements and house chants beginning at 8:45am. Events will commence promptly at 9:00am.

The Primary Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday, 24 March, at the University of the Sunshine Coast Athletics Track. Students are asked to arrive from 8:30am, with official announcements and house chants beginning at 8:45am. Events will commence promptly at 9:00am.

Please note that students are to travel direct to and from the event.

Throughout the day, students will participate in the following athletics disciplines: Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus, 100m, and 200m. In addition, the 400m and 800m events will be available as optional races for students wishing to take part.

The carnival will conclude with a presentation at 1:00pm, where year group champions and the overall winning house will be announced.

Students are to wear their house shirt and appropriate athletic footwear. Students should also bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and a packed lunch.

These interviews provide an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, strengths, and areas for development with their teachers. Your participation plays a vital role in supporting your child’s learning, and we strongly encourage all families to attend.

It is an expectation that students attend the interviews with you, as hearing feedback directly supports their learning, reflection, and goal setting. Students should attend interviews in full school uniform.

Appointments can be booked via the Parent Portal on Sentral.

Bookings will open on Monday 16 March and will close on Monday 23 March at 4:00 pm.

If you have multiple children with the same teacher, please ensure you make separate bookings for each child.

Thursday 26 March is a pupil‑free day, allowing families the flexibility to attend scheduled interviews throughout the day.
