Library Initiative - Donating Books to 123Read2Me

123Read2Me currently provides children in low socioeconomic communities with free quality books through recycled and new donated books. The total value of books donated to date exceeds $10,000,000, and today OSG Berwick proudly donated over 20 boxes of books to this cause.

A huge thank you to Deb Kitson and Heather Grace for managing this worthwhile project.

A Big Thank you to our Wonderful Volunteers

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to all our volunteers who give their time to make OSG Berwick what it is! We couldn't do it without you!

Primary Excursion | Science Works

Our primary students attended an exciting science excursion to Science Works in Spotswood on Monday 11th May 2026. During the hands-on experience, students participated in engaging and interactive experiments focused on matter and changes in state, including spectacular live demonstrations using liquid nitrogen. They observed how extremely low temperatures (around -196°C) affected materials, causing them to become solid, brittle, or contract, while deepening their understanding of how heat and cold influence solids, liquids, and gases. The excursion provided a valuable and memorable opportunity for students to explore scientific concepts in a fun, practical, and engaging way.

Year 12 Food Studies Excursion

The Year 12 Food Studies students enjoyed an immersive and hands‑on excursion in Melbourne on May 18th, beginning their day at William Angliss Institute. Students completed a short barista course where they learnt the craft of preparing a range of black coffees, including espresso, long black and macchiato. They then moved on to milk‑based beverages, practising techniques for frothing milk and creating cappuccinos, hot chocolates, and mochas.

In the afternoon, students visited Brunetti Classico in Carlton for a behind‑the‑scenes tour. They explored the history of the iconic Italian pasticceria, observed the operations taking place in the production areas, and of course enjoyed sampling a selection of Brunetti’s famous Italian treats.

The excursion offered students valuable industry insights, practical skill development, and a delicious taste of Melbourne’s hospitality scene.

Mission Accomplished!

Today we launched Mission Nutrition. Throughout the day, students completed a series of interactive assignments designed to build knowledge and skills, culminating in a Final Mission where learning is applied in a meaningful, real‑world context. They got to learn everything from how food gives us energy, the 4 kinds of food power, what a balanced meal looks like, to what are ultra processed foods and what food marketing looks like around the world.

Staffing Update

This week we farewelled Ser-Lein Wan from the Berwick Campus. Ser-Lein is to be thanked for her service and is wished well for her future endeavours.
