Primary has continued to be a hive of activity, with students engaged in meaningful learning, special events and hands‑on experiences that have brought great energy to the start of the term.

We were pleased to welcome Mr Hopgood to our campus on 17 February. He spent time in primary, speaking with students and exploring the work they have been producing. His visit also aligned with the regional primary assembly, where our students represented the school with pride.

A standout moment was the English Kahoot Challenge, which saw enthusiastic participation from all schools involved. Congratulations to our Armidale students, who were the winners on the day.

Students have now begun their new history unit, Parliament, which is designed to deepen their understanding of how Australia is governed and how our democratic systems have evolved. Throughout the unit, students are learning to:

In Art, students have been developing their skills in Indigenous artmaking, with a particular focus on refining their dot painting technique. They have explored traditional symbols, patterns and storytelling elements, learning how these artworks communicate culture, identity and connection to Country. Their pieces show growing precision, patience and respect for the artistic traditions they are studying.

Our Year 7 students have been busy developing their practical science skills in the laboratory this term.

As part of their introduction to laboratory safety, students learned how to correctly and safely set up and light a Bunsen burner. They explored the different types of flames, discussed when to use each one, and demonstrated safe handling procedures, including appropriate positioning, tying back hair, and following clear safety guidelines. It was wonderful to see students approach this new experience with maturity and care.

Once confident with the equipment, students conducted an investigation to measure how long it takes to boil water and how the temperature changes over time. Using thermometers and stopwatches, they carefully recorded temperature readings at regular intervals while heating water.

This hands-on investigation not only strengthened students’ understanding of scientific concepts but also built their confidence in conducting experiments safely and accurately. Well done to Year 7 for their focus, teamwork, and enthusiasm in the lab!

Stage 5 Technology Timber students recently enjoyed a productive and hands-on session with Mr Stanley, who visited to support them in completing their practical lessons. Students are currently designing and constructing a lamp table, applying safe workshop practices while refining their measuring, cutting, joining and finishing skills. With Mr Stanley’s guidance, students strengthened their problem-solving abilities, built confidence in using tools and equipment, and made excellent progress toward producing a high-quality finished piece.

At OneSchool Global AU, all Year 10 students complete the Certificate III in Business as part of their curriculum. This qualification equips students with practical skills in administration, communication, and workplace technology - essential tools for success in senior study, part-time work, and future careers.

Completing the Certificate III in Business helps students develop confidence, organisation, and a professional mindset. It provides a real-world context for learning and gives every student a head start in understanding the business world.

We are proud to offer this program as a core part of Year 10, ensuring all students gain these valuable skills and are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond. Students who complete all requirements will be awarded the national qualification - Certificate III in Business. Students who are only able to complete part of the qualification will still receive a statement of attainment, providing credit for the units they do achieve.

OSG Armidale Campus is inviting community members to spend a rostered day on campus to support the Campus Community Support (CCS) program. We warmly invite members of our wider community to get involved — including grandparents, uncles, aunts and other family members — in addition to parents.

The role of the CCS is to provide a positive influence for the campus and to support school staff in view of them maintaining and upholding the ethos and values of the community. An important part of the CCS role is to be seen but not interfering, on the alert and helpful to the staff and students at all times.

Community Campus Support (CCS) personnel must complete the Volunteer Induction including a valid Working with Children Check.
