As we reach the end of Term 1, it is a timely opportunity to reflect on what has been a productive and rewarding start to the year across our Armidale Campus. There has been a strong sense of purpose in our Learning Centre, with students continuing to develop their independence through our L2L framework and demonstrating what it means to be part of a High Performance Team.

As we head into the term break, I encourage all students to take the time to rest and recharge. While the holidays may be filled with exciting activities and family commitments, it is also important to maintain momentum in your learning. Creating a simple timetable to plan and complete any outstanding assignments will ensure a smooth transition into Term 2 and reduce unnecessary pressure in the weeks ahead.

I would like to congratulate all students who have been diligent with their IXL work this term. IXL is a powerful online resource that has been personalised using each student’s MAP results to target areas for growth and consolidate understanding. It has been fantastic to see such strong engagement, with Armidale placing in the top three campuses regionally for Term 1 usage. This is a resource students can continue to access over the holidays to further support their progress.

A highlight of the past week was our Athletics Carnival, held in Tamworth. It was truly an outstanding day, even if the wind added an extra level of challenge! The spirit, participation, and sportsmanship displayed by our students were commendable, and it was wonderful to see our community come together. Events like these are only possible through the dedication of many individuals. A special thank you to Ms Howell-Jones for her organisation and leadership in delivering such a successful event. I would also like to acknowledge the significant contribution of our parent volunteers—your support is greatly appreciated. In addition, thank you to our Campus Board for generously providing food and drinks for all in attendance, which added to the positive and inclusive atmosphere of the day.

As we conclude Term 1, I want to thank our staff, students, and families for their continued commitment to our shared goals. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable break and look forward to welcoming you back refreshed and ready for another strong term ahead.

What a fantastic way to finish the term! Our students worked incredibly hard and finished strong with their assessments. We are very proud of the effort, perseverance and positive attitude shown by all students - well done to everyone.

Congratulations also to all students for their enthusiastic participation in the athletics carnival. It was wonderful to see such great sportsmanship, teamwork and school spirit on display throughout the day.

This week we happily welcomed Flat Stanley and Flat Stacey to our classrooms. Students are very excited, and we look forward to sharing our primary adventures with them as they continue travelling with us into Week 1 of next term.

Looking ahead, we are excited to commence our gymnastics program next term, along with a range of engaging and creative new learning assignments planned for our students.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the term. We wish all families a safe, relaxing and restful holiday break and look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another great term of learning.

This graphics task focused on developing two-point perspective drawing skills by sketching a refrigerator using a horizon line and vanishing points. The exercise highlighted how perspective techniques create depth and make everyday objects appear more realistic and visually engaging. It also reinforced the importance of accuracy and spatial awareness in drawing.

In Year 11 Mathematics, students explored graphing a range of functions and relations, building their understanding of how equations shape visual patterns. They then applied these skills creatively using Desmos to design their own mathematical artworks.

Year 7 Science students have taken on the role of designers in this term's exciting 5-week assignment, where they research, design, and build their own working toy. Incorporating forces and simple machines, each toy includes a moving part and demonstrates key scientific concepts. Students will also create a video presentation to explain the science behind their design and persuade others why their toy should be bought.

Last week, staff and students from Armidale and Maitland campuses came together in Tamworth for our annual Athletics Carnival. While the weather was certainly chilly, it did little to dampen spirits, with the day filled with great competition, enthusiasm, and strong campus pride. Despite the cooler conditions, it was a fantastic day enjoyed by all who attended.

A huge thank you must go to the many volunteers and teachers who generously gave their time and energy to ensure the carnival ran smoothly. From event coordination and catering to marshalling and timekeeping, their contribution was vital to the success of the day. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Armidale Campus Board for generously covering the cost of food and refreshments for the day, which was greatly appreciated by staff and students alike.

Congratulations to Bears, who finished in 1st place with an impressive 591 points. Lions followed closely in 2nd place on 415 points, while Mustangs secured 3rd place with 374 points. Well done to all students for their commitment, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Congratulations to Maitland Campus, who were crowned overall winners of the Campus Cup after an incredibly close contest. Maitland secured victory by the narrowest of margins—just 0.81 points—highlighting how competitive the carnival was across both campuses. Well done to all students for their outstanding efforts and sportsmanship.

On 22 May, all students at OneSchool Global will take part in Mission Nutrition, a full day wellbeing event delivered across all campuses worldwide.

Mission Nutrition helps students understand how food and hydration support energy, focus, health, and learning. The day is interactive and age appropriate, with students working through guided activities led by their teachers.

This is not a normal school day. Students will take part in hands on learning designed to build practical skills they can use at school and at home.

To introduce the event and build excitement, we invite families to watch a short teaser video.

More information will be shared with families in May, including what students will experience on the day.

Campus Community Support (CCS) Program

OSG Armidale Campus is inviting community members to spend a rostered day on campus to support the Campus Community Support (CCS) program. We warmly invite members of our wider community to get involved — including grandparents, uncles, aunts and other family members — in addition to parents.

The role of the CCS is to provide a positive influence for the campus and to support school staff in view of them maintaining and upholding the ethos and values of the community. An important part of the CCS role is to be seen but not interfering, on the alert and helpful to the staff and students at all times.

Community Campus Support (CCS) personnel must complete the Volunteer Induction including a valid Working with Children Check.
