School Uniform

In general, the school uniform is worn well at our campus. However, it is the small details that elevate the overall standard. All shirts should be tucked in, hair and other accessories should be worn in line with the Uniform Policy, and correct OSG socks and shoes must be worn at all times. While these expectations may at times seem minor or insignificant, it is actually the small details that contribute to a strong sense of pride, consistency, and professionalism.

Increase in Google Computer Games

Computer games are not permitted to be played at school. Students follow a highly structured timetable aligned with the Learning to Learn Framework and are expected to work towards developing a lifelong learning mindset. Staff across all 132 campuses utilise a platform called DyKnow to monitor student computer usage. Typically, if a student is accessing computer games, the website can be blocked and the student redirected to their learning. However, blocking Google Games also restricts access to Google Search. As we do not wish to limit valuable learning opportunities provided through Google, this option is not utilised. Students are expected to remain on task throughout the school day and not play Google Games.

Regional Team Visit

On Tuesday 16 June, our campus welcomed members of the Regional Team. Dr Anat Hassnar spent valuable time with our Student Leadership Team, while Scott Cantrill, Paul Maher, and Travis Hopgood met with staff and myself to discuss campus culture and seek feedback. Overall, the visit was both successful and encouraging.

Campus Modernisation Program

I am pleased to share progress has been made on the new Learning Centre development with a local builder now engaged to commence site works in the coming weeks. While this period will present some challenges for students as they adjust to new learning environments alongside construction activity, we will ensure that best practice is maintained. This is a very exciting development for our campus and I would like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of Craig Suggate, who has worked tirelessly with AlburyCity Council and local builders to bring this project to fruition.

Regional Principal Visit

Travis Hopgood will visit our campus on Thursday 25 June. The purpose of his visit is to support staff and students in teaching and learning and to maintain a strong presence on campus. Any parents who would like to meet with Travis are encouraged to contact Albury Administration to arrange a suitable time. All feedback is welcome.

Friday 26 June & Friday 3 July

These are two exciting upcoming dates. On Friday 26 June students will have a pupil free day while staff complete exam marking and prepare school reports. On Friday 3 July students in Years 5 to 12 will travel to Young for the Activity Day fundraiser. Students in Years 3 and 4 will remain on campus and enjoy a day of activities, including cooking lessons, an Amazing Race style challenge, and a movie afternoon. Further details regarding times and expectations will be provided by Administration.

Primary students have been continuing their learning about balanced nutrition following the completion of Mission Nutrition. In Food Technology classes, they are now preparing for an exciting cooking session in the kitchen on Monday 22 June. Students will be creating and enjoying fruit selections served on sourdough French toast, as well as healthy kebabs accompanied by a Greek yogurt-based sauce of their own design.
