Mr Hopgood Visit

Mr Travis Hopgood, the Regional Principal, will visit our campus on Tuesday 24 March. If you would like to meet with Travis please contact Albury Admin.

Learning Centre Focus

From time to time, students can lose focus in their studies and require additional support to ensure the day is productive and meaningful. A normal school day commences with Homeroom and study planning. Once the plan for the day is set (with the help of the staff), students should have a clear understanding of their timetable, the zones to utilise and their tutorials to attend. It is normal to be off task or bored at times and that is OK with a quick reset. However, what we are starting to see is a lack of attention to the study plan, which results in difficulty resetting and focusing. I would be appreciative if the morning study plan was encouraged at home by way of asking to see the planner and discussing if daily goals were achieved and if zones were used to best possible advantage for the task completed.

Parent Teacher Interviews

On Wednesday 25 March from 2pm to 5pm, staff will be available for face-to-face parent teacher interviews. On Thursday 26 March there is a pupil free day for all online interviews to take place. Students are to attend each interview in full school uniform.

Athletics Carnival

On Friday 27 March, students and staff will depart from Albury Campus at 6:30am for Griffth. There are still seats available on the bus for parents who wish to attend. We expect to arrive back on campus by 6pm. Students are to wear their house colour shirt and matching bucket hat. There will be no food stops along the way so make sure all students pack some snacks for the trip but note: no lollies or soft drink on the bus. Water only. No phones on the day unless discussed with myself or a staff member prior. Please see OSG directive below regarding costumes and dress‑up on the day:

Music

Primary students are learning about how to create and synchronize their musical beats. To practice, we are collecting empty thick plastic paint buckets. If you have any at home, please bring in them in as soon as you can (we will return these when we are finished with them).

Athletics Carnival

Our 2026 Athletics Carnival will be held in Griffith on Friday 27 March. We will depart OSG Albury at 6:30am and return at 6pm.

Students are to wear house colour shirts and matching bucket hats. No other hat is to be worn.

There are to be no lollies or electronic devices/games on the bus. Students are welcome to pack a book, or a quiet activity they can do on the bus.

Swimming

In Term 2, we will be doing swimming lessons which will start from the first day we return!

Swimming will be each day for 2 weeks.

We are looking for male community members to support supervision whilst at Gould Swim Academy and drive a bus if possible.

Reminders

Hats - All students should have the correct bucket hats now. All other hat options can be worn during term 2 and 3.

Canvas – take a look at what your child has been learning this week - access your child's Canvas page via OnePortal to see what they've been learning this week.

Homework

Read, read, read! Read out loud; discuss what your child is reading. Many of our students are great readers, now we want to improve on their comprehension and ability to retell the story.

Changes to Primary Timetable Wording

Please note that “Inquiry” is now explicitly called Humanities/Science.

The first half of each term we will complete an assignment on Science, and the second half of term will be a Humanities (Geography/History/Social Science) assignment.

Also, our Digital Technologies subject is now “Technologies” to better reflect the various forms of technology students will be experiencing throughout the year.

Secondary spotlight

Secondary Spotlight Albury 2026 T1 W8

In Week 9, Year 10 students from Albury and Wagga, along with Mrs Claire Cooper, visited Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre at Burrumbuttock to undertake fieldwork for their Geography assignment on Environmental Change and Management.

This assignment requires students to identify an environmental challenge at a specific location, collect their own primary data, and write a field report that includes suggestions for managing the issue. Students also recorded site observations and completed a field sketch as additional evidence.

All students enjoyed the opportunity to get out of the classroom and apply their learning in the field. We also received many positive comments from Mrs Frankenberg, who guided us on the day. She praised our students for their politeness, positive attitude and enthusiasm. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Urquhart, and Mrs Samuel, for supporting our students and helping to make it a fantastic excursion.

Strengthening safety across our global bus network - global webinar screening Tuesday 24/03

On Tuesday 24/03, OneSchool Global will launch Precious Cargo, a new global safety campaign for all volunteer bus drivers across our school. This campaign centres on a powerful safety film that highlights the real risks our drivers face every day - fatigue, distractions, speed, seatbelts, and substances. The film will be screened via a global webinar at 7.30pm local time.

The film is confronting by design and reinforces the non‑negotiable expectations we hold for every driver, in every region. You can watch a preview of the film here.

We encourage all households to register for this important global webinar screening at 7:30pm Tuesday 24 March.

The webinar is mandatory viewing for all OSG bus drivers.
