Dear Parents,

As we move into the final stretch of Term 1, it is an opportune moment to pause and reflect on what has been a significant and highly productive start to the year at OSG Sydney. The past term has marked not only the beginning of a new academic year, but also the successful transition into our new campus—an achievement that has required collective commitment, resilience and a shared belief in what we are building together.

The final two weeks of term promise to be both busy and exciting. Alongside the continued focus on teaching and learning, we are also pleased to share that the Sydney campus will be hosting an OSG film project during the first week of the April holidays. This is a unique opportunity to showcase our campus, our students, and the distinctive Learn to Learn approach that underpins all that we do. We look forward to sharing more details with you soon.

A key focus in Week 9 will be our Parent–Teacher–Student Interviews. These conversations are central to our core business of learning, providing an important opportunity to reflect on progress, set goals, and strengthen the partnership between home and school. A critical enabler of meaningful engagement in these discussions is parents’ ability to confidently navigate their child’s Canvas courses. To support this, we will be hosting in-person Parent Canvas Workshops on Tuesday and Wednesday of Week 9. I strongly encourage all parents to attend if you would like to deepen your understanding of our Learning Management System and better support your child’s learning journey.

It has also been fantastic to see the growing sense of positivity and energy across the campus as we build toward our annual Athletics Carnival on Monday. Events such as these are a vital part of school life, providing opportunities for students to challenge themselves, demonstrate school spirit, and build connections beyond the classroom. We look forward to an exciting day of participation and performance—and perhaps even a few records being broken.

I would also like to acknowledge the excellent work of our Student Leadership Team this term. Their initiative in launching the Senior Years Pickleball Tournament has brought energy and connection to our campus, while their leadership of the Kindness Campaign has contributed meaningfully to reinforcing a positive and inclusive school culture. We look forward to seeing the pickleball competition extend to our younger students in Term 2, further strengthening cross-campus engagement.

As we approach the end of the term, I encourage all members of our community—students, staff and parents alike—to stay the course. Let us honour the considerable effort that has gone into Term 1 by finishing accurately and strongly. The habits, focus and standards we uphold in these final weeks will set the tone for the terms ahead.

Week 6

Week 7

Students have been thoroughly enjoying their time with 'LEGO Lab', a hands‑on and creative space where learning comes to life. Through building and experimenting, students have been developing STEM skills, problem‑solving abilities, and teamwork, all while having fun. The Technology period ‘LEGO Lab’ combines physical LEGO bricks with digital technology, encouraging students to explore physics, coding, and engineering through interactive, experiential play.

Each Tuesday during homeroom, our SLT have been leading kindness and wellbeing sessions to help build positive connections across the school. Last week, students created paper kindness chains, writing kind words about their friends, teachers, and classmates. Each class linked their chains together, with the longest chain taking the win! Congratulations to 3 Yellow for creating the longest class chain — a fantastic team effort and a wonderful display of kindness in action. 💛

Over the past two weeks, Stage 2 and Stage 3 have been enjoyed swimming lessons filled with lots of learning and fun! The students have been building confidence in the water while developing important swimming and water safety skills. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, effort, and progress each session. A big well done to all our swimmers!

Year 12 Preliminary Exam Timetable

Our Year 12 students recently received their Class of 26 jackets. It's wonderful to see the students looking especially smart and wearing their jackets with such pride!

The OSG Sydney Term 1 Pickleball Tournament is in full swing, with the semi-finals drawing to a close at the end of this week. This initiative has brought an extremely positive response from all students who really enjoy cheering on their classmates from the sidelines every lunchtime. We are extremely grateful for the new hall facilities as this would not have been possible in previous years.

We would like to extend a big congratulations to the remaining teams - Connor G & Liam W, Oscar A & Henley L and Lorena L & Madeleine S, Ketsia L & Pearl B - who have made it to grand finale which will be held during lunch next week. We anticipate a large crowd and cannot wait to present the trophies to the winning teams!

Just a reminder to parents that Thursday, 26 March is a pupil free day, aligned with the Parent-Teacher interviews.

• Date: Monday, 23rd March.

• Time: Students are expected to arrive between 7:30am - 7:55am, with the first event kicking off at 8am.

The carnival will conclude at approximately 1:30pm.

Parking & Transport

• Buses will be available as a transport option for students in the morning and afternoon, though parents may also choose to drive their child if preferred.

Parking Information (for those driving):

• Please park in P2 initially (preferred option). With another event taking place nearby, parking is expected to fill quickly—carpooling is encouraged and early arrival is recommended to secure a spot.
• If P2 is full, please use P3 & P4 – refer to maps attached.
• P2 Parking (Preferred)
• Your number plate will be scanned on entry.
• Before leaving, please visit the venue office to have your ticket validated.
• This allows free parking for up to 4 hours.
• If staying longer than 4 hours: Charges apply at approximately $8 per hour

• These operate on the standard ticketing system (paid parking).
• Charges apply based on duration of stay.
• Maximum daily rate: $35

Catering

• Free catering will be available on-site for parents and students (coffee, snacks, and lunch).
• A food truck will also be available on-site for students and parents should you prefer an alternative to the catering provided — this will also be available at no cost.
• Families are welcome to bring their own food if preferred.

What Students Are Allowed to Wear
Students may add simple accessories to their normal school uniform. Examples include:
• Hats, beanies or simple headwear
• Scarves
• Glasses (decorative or novelty)
• Socks or fun footwear (within safety requirements)
• Small handheld props that do not obstruct movement
These items allow students to join in the fun while keeping their uniform intact and maintaining a consistent approach.

What Is Not Permitted

To remain aligned with OSG policy and to support equity across our community:
• Full costumes are not permitted at school events
• No wigs, face paint, fake moustaches or dyed hair
• No heavy makeup, vivid lipstick or alterations to natural complexion
• No cultural, themed or era based outfits
• No items that replace, modify or cover the OSG uniform
• Students must arrive and depart in their standard OSG uniform
• Food & Drink: Water bottle, snacks, and packed lunch if preferred.

Participation & Spirit

• All students are expected to participate in events to the best of their ability, and we encourage supportive cheering and a strong display of house spirit throughout the day.

Parents & Guests

• Parents and families are warmly invited to attend and cheer from the sidelines.
• Please remember this is a school-run event, and student supervision remains the responsibility of staff.

Strengthening safety across our global bus network - global webinar screening next Tuesday

Next Tuesday, OneSchool Global will launch Precious Cargo, a new global safety campaign for all volunteer bus drivers across our school. This campaign centres on a powerful safety film that highlights the real risks our drivers face every day - fatigue, distractions, speed, seatbelts, and substances. The film will be screened via a global webinar at 7.30pm local time.

The film is confronting by design and reinforces the non‑negotiable expectations we hold for every driver, in every region. You can watch a preview of the film here.

Thank you for supporting a strong driving safety culture across our community.

During the upcoming school holidays, the Corporate Affairs Team will be shooting two large-scale advertising type films designed to tell the OneSchool Global story in an emotive and compelling way, helping build awareness, connect people with our brand and support our staff recruitment. These will be larger-scale film productions than what we would normally have on campus, with the campuses looking and feeling very much like a professional film set during the shoot.

Student wellbeing plays a vital role in learning, engagement, and overall development. As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting every student, this fortnightly wellbeing section will provide practical strategies and insights to help students thrive both at school and at home.

Building Healthy Routines

As we come to the end of a busy term, it’s a great time to reflect on the importance of daily routines in supporting student wellbeing. Consistent routines help young people feel safe, organised, and better able to manage both academic and social challenges.
Simple habits can make a big difference. Encouraging regular sleep patterns, maintaining a balanced approach to schoolwork and downtime, and being mindful of screen time all contribute to improved focus and emotional regulation. Reducing screen use before bed, in particular, can support better sleep quality and help students feel more prepared for the school day.
At school, we continue to support students by providing structured learning environments, clear expectations, and opportunities to develop positive relationships. At home, families can reinforce this by create predictable routines and gently setting clear, consistent expectations around screen use, while also allowing time for students to relax and connect with others.
A helpful strategy is to focus on small, achievable changes. Whether it’s setting a regular study time, preparing for school the night before, gradually reducing screen use in the evening, or scheduling time to unwind and recharge, these habits build consistency and confidence over time.

NAPLAN has now been completed with some disruption to the writing test, due to technical issues with the national assessment platform; this was quickly resolved. The last few catch-up tests have now occurred. Thank you to all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 who were prepared and completed these tests to the best of their ability. The school will receive the results next term and reports are then sent home to parents.

These are the final canteen days for Term 1. The canteen will be closed for Week 10.
