Dear Parents,

As we reach the end of Week 2 of Term 2, it has been pleasing to reflect on what has been a sound and productive start to the term. There has been a strong sense of purpose and positivity across the campus, with students and staff building confidently on the momentum established during Term 1.

I would also like to sincerely thank parents for the thoughtful feedback already received as part of our communication refinement efforts taking place this term. We are working closely with the Campus Support Team (CST) to ensure that communication between the school and parent body continues to strengthen the positive partnership that underpins effective school life. Our shared goal is to enhance parent engagement in a way that best supports students and contributes meaningfully to the broader culture of the school. We look forward to reverting shortly with the findings from the consultation process, alongside a proposed communication framework — or “social contract” — that will guide us in this space moving forward.

One of our key parent engagement goals this term is to ensure that all households can comfortably navigate Canvas in support of their children’s learning journeys. As a school, we are committed to ensuring that parents have real-time visibility of learning progress, assessment schedules and academic feedback. With this in mind, we encourage at least one parent from each household to attend one of the Parent Canvas Workshops taking place across Weeks 3–9. These sessions will be held every Wednesday at 9:00am following assembly and will provide practical support in navigating the platform confidently and effectively.

Friday’s Mother’s Day celebrations were also a particularly special highlight of the past fortnight. The event was wonderfully engaging and deeply endearing, providing a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the remarkable role that mothers and mother figures play in the lives of our students. There are countless moments — often unseen and unrecognised — where mums do what only mums can do to ensure children are cared for, supported and encouraged. It was truly special to pause and acknowledge this contribution. We sincerely thank all those who made the time to participate in the celebrations.

Looking ahead, one of our ongoing areas of focus at a school level will be the continued promotion of a culture of reciprocal restorative agency. In practical terms, this means empowering students to initiate respectful and constructive conversations with both teachers and peers when challenges arise. We believe that healthy school culture is strengthened when feedback becomes a positive two-way stream, underpinned by mutual respect, accountability and a shared commitment to growth.

As always, we thank parents for their ongoing investment into the partnership with the school. Your support and engagement remain central to the continued growth and success of our students and community. We look forward to an exciting and productive fortnight ahead.

In 2026, all OneSchool Global Australia Primary students will participate in the Australasian Problem-Solving Mathematical Olympiads (APSMO) program across Terms 2 and 3.

APSMO is a levelled mathematics program designed to develop students’ problem-solving, reasoning, and thinking skills through engaging and challenging tasks. Students work on problems suited to their current level, helping build confidence, creativity, and perseverance in mathematics.

Please be advised that Miss Caitlin Kelly will be taking personal leave, travelling to Europe, for her upcoming wedding in June. She will be on leave from Thursday 14th May to the end of term. Students in Class 6 Red will therefore be joining the three existing Stage 3 classes taught by Miss Jess Dear, Mrs Elinore Petreski, and Mr Brian O’Rourke. This arrangement will ensure continuity of learning and ongoing support for all students during this period.

Parents of students in Class 6 Red will receive a direct email tomorrow, outlining their child’s allocated class teacher for the coming weeks while Miss Kelly is on leave.

We wish Miss Kelly all the very best for her upcoming wedding and wish her safe travels.

A big welcome back to term 2 from the SLT team at OSG Sydney. This term we are looking to implement many projects within the school to continue to make the learning and social environments a positive place to be.

Here is a breakdown of the SLT portfolios and what each team is looking to achieve this term.

The Marketing and Communication team strives to communicate effectively across all stakeholders to ensure information regarding the school is well known and understood. This will be achieved through newsletters and emails.

The Wellbeing objective is for a boosted moral across the school to increase attendance levels, we aim to do this by creating more activities which excite students to come to school.

The Learning to learn term 2 goal is to make it easier for students to plan their learning. This will be achieved through our new To-Do List Program, where teachers collaborate to create a clear to-do list for the students to complete.

The Event Team aims to kick off a Primary Pickleball tournament in week 3. On top of this we want to create a new activity day, that is better than ever before, and is enjoyed by all, while aiming to boost morale and fostering a great culture.

Year 7 students took their science learning outdoors this week as they investigated how the size of a parachute affects the time it takes to fall through the air.

Armed with stopwatches, a variety of self-made parachutes and plenty of curiosity, students collected real data while enjoying the fresh air.

Collaboration and hands on investigations like this bring science to life – showing that learning by doing is not only powerful, but a lot of fun too.

We’re pleased to introduce a new way to share your child(ren’s) House Points’ achievements.

From 11 May, parents will have access to the House Points dashboard in OnePortal. The dashboard will include the reason for the award, total House Points they have been awarded to date, their current Merit Certificate level, and how many points are needed to reach the next level.

House Points are at the heart of OneSchool Global’s student award program, to recognise notable achievements aligned with our Student Persona. This year we are encouraging all students to ‘Go for Gold’ and achieve 60 House Points across the academic year.

Last term, OneSchool Global launched Precious Cargo, a new global safety campaign for all volunteer bus drivers. The campaign includes a powerful safety film that highlights the responsibility our drivers carry every day and reinforces key expectations around seatbelts, fatigue, distractions, speed, and substances.

Our drivers play a vital role in keeping students safe, and this campaign supports them with clear, consistent safety standards across all 20 countries in our network.

Here are a few simple ways you can make a real difference:

* Wear your seatbelt properly every time you’re on the bus

* Stay seated while the bus is moving

* Keep noise at a reasonable level so your driver can concentrate

* Avoid distracting the driver – their focus keeps everyone safe

* Look out for each other when getting on and off the bus

Student wellbeing plays a vital role in learning, engagement, and overall development. As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting every student, this fortnightly wellbeing section will provide practical strategies and insights to help students thrive both at school and at home.

A Positive Start to the Term

The beginning of a new term is a great opportunity for students to reset, refocus, and establish positive habits for the weeks ahead. Returning to school can bring a mix of emotions, including excitement, nerves, and adjustment to routines.

Re-establishing consistent daily routines is one of the most effective ways to support a smooth transition back to school. Regular sleep patterns, organised mornings, and setting realistic goals can help students feel more prepared and confident.

It’s also important to ease back into learning with a balanced approach. Encouraging students to stay organised, manage their time effectively, and communicate when they need support can make a significant difference to their overall wellbeing and success.

At school, we support students by creating structured environments, building positive relationships, and providing clear expectations. At home, families can help by maintaining consistent routines, showing interest in learning, and creating a calm and supportive space for schoolwork.

Starting the term positively doesn’t require perfection - small, consistent efforts help build confidence and momentum.

We invite you to join our Canvas Parent Session to learn how to better understand and support your child’s learning. Before attending your session, please ensure you are able to log in to Canvas. If you have any difficulty, step-by-step instructions are provided below to guide you.

We enjoyed celebrating Mother’s Day last Friday with a special afternoon together. Primary and Secondary parents enjoyed a wonderful lunch, followed by fun art and craft activities and a photo booth to capture some beautiful memories. Some parents also enjoyed watching the Secondary sport, adding to the lively atmosphere of the day.

It was lovely to see families spending quality time together and celebrating all the amazing mums and special people in our lives.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Mission Nutrition will be held on campus on Friday 22nd May. The day will replace traditional lessons with practical, high‑impact learning focused on nutrition, wellbeing, and performance. More information will be issued closer to the day.

To support this, our canteen will be open for an additional day with a healthy menu available on Schools24 for purchase. All orders are to be submitted by Monday 18th May.
