2025 SLT

The 2025 SLT are grateful for the opportunity to lead at Southern Campus this year with events and fundraisers always being the highlight. Best wishes for the final five who have achieved the interview process. The 2026 Student Leadership Team will be announced this week at the End of Term Assembly. We look forward to handing the reigns over to 2026 SLT.

Farewell Mrs Nicholas

This week we farewell one of our long-time staff members in Mrs Pamela Nicholas. Although this is a sad moment for Southern Campus with Pam leaving after 12 years, we must celebrate what she has achieved with students she has helped, mentored and the relationships she has formed.

All families will understand her importance to numerous students over the journey. As staff, we thank her for her comradery, support, friendship and the great times spent together.

As a Southern Campus community, we wish Mrs Nicholas the very best into the future and will miss her input into our campus.

Year 12 Students

This week signifies the last week that Year 12s are enrolled at OneSchool Global. This week they will be finishing the final assessments before they enter the final school exams and WACE exams into Term 4.

We wish Edison, Bronte, Levana and Zuri the very best in the final part of their journey and thank them for their contribution to Southern Campus over last 10 years with their leadership, support, relationships and personalities they have blessed Southern Campus with.

Year 12 Graduation Breakfast

This Friday, 26th of September, Year 12s will attend their Graduation breakfast. We like to thank the Year 11 students (and parents) for arranging this great event. It was great to have Ruby Dawber in attendance and to join the Southern Campus graduates, as she is the only graduate from Northam Campus this year.

Summer Bell Times/Student Return/Sun Protection Policy

Just a reminder that school will return on Tuesday 14th of October will Summer bell times. The Sun Protection Policy will be enforced - No hat, no play.

Homeroom commences - 8:30am

School Close - 2:45pm (Wednesday 1:55pm)

Week 1, Wednesday, will be a Gnowangerup day of operations.

This upcoming Friday, 26th of September we will be holding an End of Term Assembly at Albany Campus . Proceedings will begin at 11:30am and will run to approximately 12:15pm. Early close for all students is at the conclusion of this assembly.

Year 5 & 6 – Persuasive Speeches

Our upper primary students have been passionately crafting persuasive speeches, culminating in their final assessment this week: “How to Change the World?” Their ideas have been inspiring, thoughtful, and full of hope. We encourage you to ask your child about their speech – they’ll be excited to share their vision for a better world!

Year 3 & 4 – Persuasive Letters

Meanwhile, our lower primary students have been exploring persuasive writing through letters. This week, they wrote heartfelt letters from Stella to Ivan, urging him to take care of Ruby. The empathy and creativity shown in their writing has been truly impressive. Again, we invite you to ask your child about their letter – they’ll love telling you all about it!

Big Business

One of our Big Business initiatives was a splash! Students rolled up their sleeves and launched a car wash service, complete with hose and soap – a much-needed treat for our travelling cars. It was a fantastic display of teamwork, entrepreneurship, and community involvement. A massive shout out to Leonie Richardson for all of her help on the day!

Term 3 has been an action-packed time for students across Australia to participate in a wide variety of events. These events take initiative and enthusiasm by our staff to organise and are undoubtably memorable for our students. Events outside of the traditional classroom give our students a chance to build a greater sense of school spirit, supporting team members, and developing their physical literacy. We hope these events inspire our students to make more active choices in their lives outside of school to move their bodies and improve overall wellbeing.

Perth Campus SLT Bikeathon

The SLT took to organising a biking event in Perth. Students came from across WA to participate in the event which was a huge success. Whilst some of the terrain was quite waterlogged, students took an adventurous plunge and enjoyed the sunny day.

Western Australia Secondary Activities Day

Secondary students from across WA came together to showcase their acquired skills from Physical Education lessons this year. The day was filled with team spirit, inclusive leaders, and encouraging behaviours. We’d like to congratulate the following students who won Best and Fairest in their age groups. Armani Imberti, Brynn Sivewright, Beulah Draffin, and Poppy Trewarn.

Speedball at Hamilton

The secondary students at Hamilton recently participated in a game of speedball.

Senior Physical Education Mountain Biking: Illawarra Campus

The secondary students at Illawarra Campus had the chance to learn more about mountain biking and practise their skills both inside and out. They practised on a variety of surfaces including ramps, jumps, and loose terrain.

Swan Hill

Over the past few terms, students at Swan Hill Campus have participated in a variety of sports such as pickleball, basketball, and badminton, and cricket.

Students across AU have been participating target games to develop their accuracy and game specific strategy.

Archery in Tasmania

Within the Target Games Assignment, students in Tasmania has the opportunity to learn archery from a trusted and trained professional.

I would like to take this time to thank all the staff, students, parents and community members for their support over the last twelve and a half years at OSG. Wow, how time flies! It has been an honour to be able to watch so many students come and go over the years and become such amazing, successful young adults.

For those of you who are not aware, I have purchased the local Chemdry Carpet Cleaning business for the Great Southern and will be finishing my time at OSG as of today. With my new venture, I hope this means it’s not goodbye forever and I hope to see you all from time to time.

A little something for the Year 7 students

Zeke – You came in year 4 as very energetic, cheeky little boy. I was prepared, with my sneakers on to chase you around the school if needed. I did not need them 😊 You have given me many laughs over the years. You never know what may come out of your mouth! You have always shown great respect to me even if you think things are not fair. You should be really proud of how much you have grown and how mature you are becoming.

Mia – I am going to miss your cheeky smile. You have grown so much over the past 4 and a half years. I am super proud of how much you have improved this year and you have taken high school in your stride. I am so proud of how much you have grown. Just remember to always have a go and keep trying hard.

Twyla – I first met you as the cute little sister to Jordan. He was so proud when you arrived and could not wait to tell me. 12 years later, you have grown into a happy, sometimes very cheeky young lady. You have really started to mature this year and take ownership of your work. Keep a positive attitude and your camera on 😊

Delano – Who would have thought I would be working with students of parents I went to school with!!! It has been so nice to be able to be a part of your learning journey so far. You are becoming a very confident, sometimes a little stubborn young man that is not scared to have your say. Keep asking questions and keep up the great work.

High School Students

I have really enjoyed being able to join you all for sport over the years. You all have been lucky enough to see my good and not so good talents (hockey) over the years. I empathize with you Zuri, it’s because we are left-handed :) I also loved being able to spend time out of the classroom and really see you all show your individual talents for each sport. I feel you all have shown me a lot of respect over the years and always made me feel needed and welcome.

Primary

I have really missed being in the primary room this year but still lucky enough to join you all for music. This is where I get to learn with you all too and we get to help each other out together as we learn new things. I love that I still come to school each day and get a big smile and ‘Hello Mrs Nicholas’ from all of you. This is something I will treasure into the future.

I am really not sure how to say goodbye as I know I am really going to miss you all. So, it is not a goodbye from me but a see you all again soon.

Southern Campus has been selected to trial changes to the OSG campus newsletter process, before they are introduced globally in the coming months. This edition of the campus newsletter may look similar to previous editions, but it has been produced using a completely new system and process behind-the-scenes!

These changes are part of OSG’s goal to enhance OnePortal and use it to simplify and improve the parent information experience. We want to make it easier for parents to find the campus news they’re looking for – at the right time and on their mobile phone.

What’s changed

Parents should now be able to read important news articles on OnePortal even before the campus newsletter is distributed each fortnight. You can find them on OnePortal in the section at the bottom of your OnePortal homepage called “Latest news.”

Students and other newsletter readers are now able to access a new webpage to read the current and previous editions of their campus newsletter and others across the region. They will no longer receive an email to notify them when the latest newsletter is ready, but an OSG parent can forward their email to family members if they choose.

This is the first newsletter that has been produced in the new way, so there may be some glitches. Please share your thoughts to help us improve prior to the broader release to other campuses. Thank you for your support and patience as we work to enhance the parent information experience at OSG.
