Over the past few weeks our students have had several opportunities to travel to Perth for Face-to-Face (F2F) events and excursions. These experiences are a valuable part of the OneSchool program, allowing students to connect with peers from other campuses, participate in specialised learning opportunities and strengthen their sense of community.

A sincere thank you to all parents and families for your ongoing support in making these trips possible. We appreciate the organisation and flexibility that travel requires, and it is wonderful to see students benefit from these experiences.

We are also pleased to welcome Caroline Tompkin as the new Campus Principal for Albany and Gnowangerup. Caroline brings extensive experience in K–12 education and leadership, and we are excited to have her joining the community. We look forward to the positive contribution she will make to the campus and to working together to support our students and families.

A reminder to parents that NAPLAN testing for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will commence next week. NAPLAN provides a useful snapshot of student progress in literacy and numeracy and helps schools understand areas of strength and areas for continued growth.

For students, we encourage you to approach the tests calmly and simply do your best. These assessments are just one part of your learning journey and an opportunity to show what you already know. There is no need to feel anxious — preparation at school will ensure you are familiar with the format, and staff will be there to support you throughout the process.

Our Primary learners have launched into some exciting new adventures this fortnight!

In Humanities, we’ve officially stepped into the world of Parliament. The students are buzzing with curiosity as they explore how decisions are made—and even more excited for our Parliament Incursion happening this Friday, 6th March. Expect big questions, bigger ideas, and maybe even a few budding politicians!

Over in Technologies, we’ve shifted gears into coding, with Scratch quickly becoming the new classroom obsession. To say the students are enjoying it would be a massive understatement—there’s a whole lot of colour, creativity, and “Look what I made!” moments echoing through the room. All of this is building great foundations as we prepare for the upcoming Lego Spike Competition.

Our MAP Learning Conversations are now underway, and it has been wonderful to see students take real ownership of their learning. Their commitment to crafting thoughtful, meaningful SMART goals is something to truly celebrate.

Students have also received their Library Bags along with their borrower cards—both of which remain their responsibility to look after. With our ‘No Bag, No Book’ policy in place, they are eagerly selecting their books each week and diving into new stories with real enthusiasm.

We’ve also noticed a massive improvement in students handing in their student planners every day. Their consistency and responsibility are shining through, and their 10 minutes of daily reading is clearly evident—well done, team!

A reminder that NAPLAN kicks off next week for our Year 3s and 5s. We’re proud of how calmly and confidently they are approaching it—ready to give it their best.

At OneSchool Global AU, all Year 10 students complete the Certificate III in Business as part of their curriculum. This qualification equips students with practical skills in administration, communication, and workplace technology - essential tools for success in senior study, part-time work, and future careers.

Completing the Certificate III in Business helps students develop confidence, organisation, and a professional mindset. It provides a real-world context for learning and gives every student a head start in understanding the business world.

We are proud to offer this program as a core part of Year 10, ensuring all students gain these valuable skills and are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond. Students who complete all requirements will be awarded the national qualification - Certificate III in Business. Students who are only able to complete part of the qualification will still receive a statement of attainment, providing credit for the units they do achieve.

Your encouragement at home can make a real difference. We encourage parents to support their young person by discussing their learning, celebrating achievements, and encouraging them to apply the skills they are developing. Together, we can help every student succeed and make the most of this valuable qualification.
