Primary spotlight

This term, Primary students at both Orange and Cowra are learning about the three states of matter, solids, liquids and gases. Everyone had a great (and messy) time making and exploring oobleck. We discovered that oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid which acts as a solid when a force like squeezing or punching is applied but is a liquid when left on its own.

This term stages 2 & 3 are working on coding robots. This week we have learnt to code the matrix, light sensor, motor, distance sensor and sound device with our lego battery. We are excited to start our Lego Lad design competition and create a moving robot.

For PE, Cowra students have been working on their tennis skills.

Here are our Cowra students making Mother's day gifts

Thank you to all our mothers and grandmothers that came along to the Mother's Day breakfast/morning tea at both Cowra & Orange. We enjoyed having you spend the morning with us on campus and hope you all had a wonderful time.

Secondary spotlight

Many of our year groups have been doing some physics in science. This has included measuring speed and velocity and determining factors such as how friction and air resistance affect motion. Year 7 in particular have designed parachutes to examine air resistance. They had a lot of fun in practical this week, dropping and timing their chutes!

Mr Pickard's Joke of the Week

Q: Why did the photon refuse to check a bag at the airport?

A: It was travelling light.

Primary Parent Notices

Primary Library Survey

Dear Primary Parents,

We value your feedback and would love to learn more about how your child/ren are engaging with our school library.

Your responses will help us continue to grow and improve our library programs, resources, and reading experiences.

Thank you for taking a few moments to complete this survey prior to Friday 15 May 2026.

APSMO Parent Letter

Primary Parents, Please read the following letter.

Last term, OneSchool Global launched Precious Cargo, a new global safety campaign for all volunteer bus drivers. The campaign includes a powerful safety film that highlights the responsibility our drivers carry every day and reinforces key expectations around seatbelts, fatigue, distractions, speed, and substances.

Our drivers play a vital role in keeping students safe, and this campaign supports them with clear, consistent safety standards across all 20 countries in our network.

Families are welcome to view the film here:

Please note, aspects of this film may be confronting.

For our students, please remember the important role that you play as a passenger on our buses.

Here are a few simple ways you can make a real difference:

Wear your seatbelt properly every time you’re on the bus

Stay seated while the bus is moving

Keep noise at a reasonable level so your driver can concentrate

Avoid distracting the driver – their focus keeps everyone safe

Look out for each other when getting on and off the bus
