Update from the Campus Principal

Dear families,

It has been another positive and productive fortnight at Nathalia Campus, with many opportunities for learning, growth and connection across our campus.

Our swimming program commenced last Thursday, providing students with valuable opportunities to build confidence, safety awareness and skills in the water. It has been fantastic to see such enthusiasm and participation as the program got underway.

On Wednesday, we were fortunate to welcome Mr Frank Vetere to our campus. During his visit, he shared a number of affirming observations about the positive culture, engagement and learning taking place. Importantly, our Secondary students also took time to reflect on their practices, and each made individual commitments to realignment in meaningful ways. This demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for their learning journeys, which we are very proud of.

Students also engaged well in Mission Nutrition, which promoted important messages around healthy lifestyles, balanced choices and wellbeing. We appreciate the way students have embraced these lessons and encourage conversations at home to further reinforce these habits.

A reminder to all families regarding school uniform expectations. Students are required to wear the current approved school uniform each day. Please note that any items from previous uniform versions are no longer part of the official uniform and should not be worn. We appreciate your support in maintaining a consistent and professional standard across the campus.

Next Friday, our Primary students will be heading to Ballarat for an exciting excursion with Miss Rayo and Mr Bechaz, alongside students from our Hamilton, Bendigo and Swan Hill campuses. This promises to be a valuable learning experience and a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with peers from across our network.

We are also looking forward to our involvement in Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. Orders for baked goods are due by COB Friday 22nd May. Items will be baked next week and packaged into boxes for delivery to individuals, families or businesses who have placed orders. Thank you to all who have supported this initiative. It is a wonderful way for our school community to contribute to an important cause.

Primary spotlight

Primary Excursion to Sovereign Hill on Friday 29 May

Students will travel to Sovereign Hill by bus with accompanying teachers Miss Rayo and Mr Bechaz.

The bus will leave OneSchool Harcourt Street entrance at 5:45am, arriving at Shepparton Sports Stadium with a departure time from Shepparton at 6:30am.

We expect to arrive at Sovereign Hill, Ballarat by 10am.

Bus will leave Sovereign Hill at 2pm arriving at Shepparton Sports Stadium approx. 5:30pm and Nathalia approx. 6:15pm concluding our day.

Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to assist on the day. We do still have seats available on the bus if there are any parents who would still like to come. Please reach out to admin.nathalia@au.oneschoolglobal.com if you would like to volunteer.

Secondary spotlight

Year 12 Food Studies Excursion

The Year 12 Food Studies students enjoyed an immersive and hands on excursion in Melbourne on May 18th, beginning their day at William Angliss Institute. Students completed a short barista course where they learnt the craft of preparing a range of black coffees, including espresso, long black and macchiato. They then moved on to milk based beverages, practising techniques for frothing milk and creating cappuccinos, hot chocolates, and mochas.

In the afternoon, students visited Brunetti Classico in Carlton for a behind the scenes tour. They explored the history of the iconic Italian pasticceria, observed the operations taking place in the production areas, and of course enjoyed sampling a selection of Brunetti’s famous Italian treats.

The excursion offered students valuable industry insights, practical skill development, and a delicious taste of Melbourne’s hospitality scene.

Our SLT facilitated a Comfy Friday to raise funds to Legacy where our students wore their comfy clothes to school and had a special treat at recess. The day was enjoyed by all.

Welcome Ms Russell

We are pleased to welcome Ms Rachel Russell to our Campus as a Casual Relief Teacher (CRT).

Ms Russell is a highly experienced and passionate educator, bringing over 20 years of teaching experience across Australia and the UK. She has most recently worked as a Grade 3/4 Team Leader at Nathalia Primary School, where she supported collaborative teaching practices and student wellbeing.

Ms Russell is known for her ability to build positive relationships with students and families. Her strengths include behaviour support, differentiated teaching, and fostering student wellbeing and engagement.

We are very fortunate to have Ms Russell joining us, and we are confident she will make a positive contribution to our Campus

Mother's Day Breakfast

Thank you to everyone who attended our Mother's Day Breakfast. It was a morning enjoyed by all to celebrate all of the special mother's, grandmothers, nan's, aunties and special people in our students lives.

House Points in OnePortal

We’re pleased to introduce a new way to share your child(ren’s) House Points’ achievements.

From 11 May, parents will have access to the House Points dashboard in OnePortal. The dashboard will include the reason for the award, total House Points they have been awarded to date, their current Merit Certificate level, and how many points are needed to reach the next level.

House Points are at the heart of OneSchool Global’s student award program, to recognise notable achievements aligned with our Student Persona. This year we are encouraging all students to ‘Go for Gold’ and achieve 60 House Points across the academic year.

Parents, make sure you have notifications enabled for OnePortal so you don’t miss the updates!

Calendar highlights

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea Fundraiser

Out student leadership team have curated a selection of delicious goodies to raise funds in support of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. This will be a school wide effort with each year level making and baking next week.

We welcome orders from individuals, families and community businesses to support the cause by purchasing a box.

Boxes are $5 each with all funds donated to Cancer Council Australia. Each box will contain an assortment of goodies baked and made by students.

Baked boxes will be sent home with students on Thursday 28 May and/or delivery can be arranged to your local business by arrangement. If you are collecting your child from school we will have your boxes set up in the undercover canteen area. Please come and visit us to ensure you take your boxes home.
