It is with mixed emotions that I share the news that Mrs Brooke Ryan has been appointed to a new role as Regional Executive Assistant, where she will support Mr Tom Percasky in his role as Regional Principal and Mrs Kath Merritt as Regional Director of Safeguarding.

While we are incredibly proud of Mrs Ryan's achievement and know she will thrive in this new position, her appointment represents a significant loss for the Nambour Campus community. Mrs Ryan has been an integral part of our campus, and her professionalism, dedication, warmth, and remarkable organisational skills have made an immeasurable contribution to the daily life of our school.

Those who know Mrs Ryan understand that she is far more than a Campus Office Administrator. She is often the first friendly face to greet students, parents, staff, and visitors, and she consistently goes above and beyond to support our community. Her ability to manage countless responsibilities with efficiency, grace, and a positive attitude is truly exceptional. There is no doubt that Mr Percasky and Mrs Merritt have secured the ideal person for this important role, and while they are incredibly fortunate, we will certainly feel the impact of her absence at Nambour.

Mrs Ryan leaves behind very big shoes to fill, and while we begin the recruitment process for a new Campus Office Administrator, we are pleased that we will have a little more time with her before she officially commences her new position. On behalf of our entire campus community, I thank Brooke for her outstanding service and congratulate her on this well-deserved opportunity.

At the start of the term, I also shared with students that Miss Jaz D'Costa has moved on from our campus to take up a position at another school. We thank Miss D'Costa for the care and support she provided to our students and wish her every success in the future.

We are also farewelling Reaghan and Camie Dormer for an extended period as they embark on an exciting adventure to Canada, where they will attend our Vancouver Campus for the remainder of 2026. I must admit to being more than a little envious, as Canada has long been on my list of places to visit! We wish the Dormer family safe travels and look forward to hearing about their experiences.

Back on campus, we have recently concluded our Parent-Teacher Interviews. I hope families found these conversations valuable and gained a meaningful reflection on their child's Semester One journey, while also identifying goals and opportunities for growth in the second half of the year.

Looking ahead, we have a busy and exciting week with students participating in the Australian Mathematics Competition, while our primary students will be enjoying their excursion to the Ginger Factory.

Finally, a reminder that our annual School Photo Day will take place in Week 4.

As previously communicated, following a successful pilot, our campus will be rolling out a new volunteer structure called the Campus Support Team (CST). This replaces the previous Campus Board and Campus Administrator roles and is part of a global initiative to simplify our volunteer operations while strengthening community support.

I am confident this will be a positive change for our campus and will strengthen community support, streamline volunteer roles, and ensure consistent processes across all campuses.

The process for escalating concerns and feedback remains unchanged and your first point of contact is your child's classroom teacher or homeroom teacher. If you feel an issue is not getting resolved, please reach out to me or one of the Campus Support Team. Our Global Reporting Tool also remains in place, and available for your use.

Welcome back to Term 3!

It was great to see all the children back from their break with smiles on their faces. Everyone has settled back into routines quickly. This term looks to be just as busy as Term 1 and 2, so I have outlined a few key points below.

In Literacy Year 5/6 will be looking at two short stories called Black Cockatoo and Dirrarn. These focus on family values and Aboriginal culture. In Year 3/4 the children will be looking at two picture books, 1 about turtles and 1 about bees. The big question across both assignments is, "How do authors use language and structure to show problems, build empathy, and guide us to take action?"

In Maths we continue to look at a range of topics. We have the Australian maths competition coming up in week 3, which I know a few students have entered. Good luck to them. Please continue to practice basic facts at home; this includes quick addition, subtraction and times table facts.

In Science we are starting with a topic on sustainability, focusing on the importance of looking after the bee population. We have a trip to the Ginger Factory to link in with this. This is in week 3 on the 8th of August. Please look out for more communication regarding transport and parent help.

Our technology assignment is also focused on bees. The children will be making an automata design to make a bee look like it is flying.

In French we are going to be studying my family. Please could the children bring in a family photograph as soon as possible.

Book week is in week 6. Please start thinking about the costume your children might like to wear for our book parade. We also have a book in a jar competition happening. There is an attached letter outlining the specifics.

Gymnastics will take place for 5 weeks on a Friday, period 3 and 4. This begins next week and children should wear their House shirts on Friday not Tuesday.

We also have our second round of MAP testing happening in week 7. Please encourage your children to go onto IXL to practice the areas for development that have been flagged in their study profiles.

A reminder to encourage your children to read each night. This term we are upping the reading to 4 nights a week with a signature from the parent, in order to get a house point. Our library day continues to be on a Friday, so please remember to bring book bags.

Lions roar to victory in Global House Cup Season 1

The Green Lions have claimed the 2026 Global House Cup Season 1 title , securing their sixth championship since the competition began in 2017.

From January to June, students across North America, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Argentina, and Europe demonstrated the qualities of the OSG Quality Student Persona , with staff submitting 216,398 recognitions celebrating students who went above and beyond. These submissions highlighted attributes such as Living the Values, Being Self-Directed, Taking Ownership, Solving Problems, and Maintaining a Positive Attitude.

The competition was one of the closest in Global House Cup history, with just 227 points separating first and third place . The final standings were:

1st Lions – 72,333 points

2nd Mustangs – 72,109 points

3rd Bears – 72,106 points

Congratulations to the Lions on their well-earned victory and thank you to everyone for making the Global House Cup such a meaningful celebration of student achievement and character. We look forward to another exciting season ahead.
