Update from Mrs Steele

Hello from Primary,
There is great excitement in Primary as the new playground nears completion. It's looking like tomorrow might be the day for the grand opening, fingers crossed.
Congratulations to the Lego Legends for winning the Australia Lego competition and to Ketsia for her video. I'm very proud of you all. Now to win the Global competition!
Today we did some cooking as part of our food technology assignment. The children chose some healthy toppings for rice crackers including; sliced fruit, hummus, cream cheese, a thin layer of dark chocolate, cheese and ham. We also made sweet potato pizzas, which were a real hit! They are in the process of designing their own healthy food truck. With any luck, we might be able to make some of their ideas as an end of term treat.

We have been working hard on our writing skills in English. Year 3/4 wrote sequels to Storm Boy and painted front covers for their new book. Year 5/6 have been focusing on symbolism, diary entries and recently wrote a newspaper article using an extended metaphor. The pictures below show our work. Please feel free to pop in and read them anytime.
Next week, on Thursday, we have our trip to the Gympie Gold Museum. This is to tie in with our Humanities Assignment on Australia. We have been learning all about the States, our neighbours and location in the world. As part of this we are looking at where cities develop and why, including migration from other countries and across the country.
