Congratulations for all staff and students for an excellent first term of 2026. Following are some highlights to celebrate:

• Our Year 3 students have all successfully transitioned into OSG
• Our Student Leadership Team launched the Peer Coaching Program as part of our Study Plan Project 2.0
• Mr. Culliton quicky adapted to OSG and made himself an asset to the team
• Our students all completed MAP testing and set learning goals
• Our Year 11 and 12 students set goals for the year
• We implemented our Emergency Use of Public Transportation plan
• Our teachers completed peer observations
• Our teachers increased their use of digital tools in Lessons
• We improved our communication through the use of Outlook invitations, Signal chat, emails and our newsletter.

As we all move into a well-deserved break, I express my gratitude once again for allowing me to lead you all at OneSchool Mt. Victoria. I wish you all a healthy, safe, and restful break.

Stage 2 have just completed their first Artwork piece for display. After exploring Indigenous dot paintings, students used gum leaves, collage, dot art and Aboriginal symbols to create an Artwork that tells a story. Please see the beautiful results of Stage 2 Gold.

Stage 3 finished the process of painting, cutting and organising individual aspects of their art pieces. Here are the final colourful designs.

The first term of a new school year is always one full of excitement, anticipation and hard work as we set expectations and routines into place.

Our Primary students have stepped up and have worked solidly, especially during this last couple of weeks as we finalise classroom assessment tasks.

During the holiday break we encourage everyone to have a good rest, spend time with friends and family and enjoy the great outdoors.

If there is ever the "I'm bored" comment that arises encourage your child/children to continue to read, use IXL, Typing Club, Lexia or even write a letter to someone.

Stage 4 Homeroom have had a busy term!! MAP testing was first up followed by MAP Conversations and Goal setting. NAPLAN followed soon after, so much testing for Year 7 but very informative benchmarking for teachers and parents. Year 7 have now completed their first round of Assessment Tasks which can be brutal for the unprepared. Congratulations on looking smart in new uniforms every day and working toward creating Study Plans ready for every Monday! Tuesday Homeroom activity is to work from the IXL platform to practice their bespoke Numeracy and Literacy skills targeted from completing the MAP testing. We have a new Leaderboard Legend every week. Congratulations Bianca for being our first Leaderboard Legend this week. Wednesday we have fun with some Team Building activities and games. Thursday is Assembly or Mt Vic style Kahoot and Friday is Standout and Study Plan reflection (how can I make this Study Plan thing work best for me??) with a Tutorial Trophy to encourage students to book and attend tutorials. Congratulations Ola for winning the Tutorial Trophy this week. After only 3 days she has attended 3 tutorials!

9/10 have had a busy fortnight completing assessments, seeking feedback and reflecting on their Term 1 goals.

It has been pleasing to see the increase in students booking tutorials this term. We have a system in place where HR representatives (Adelaide and Preston) collate tutorial data twice weekly, with each tutorial booked and attended is acknowledged with a merit. With the increase in bookings you will see 9/10 students steadily approaching their Bronze awards, if they haven’t received them already.

Thank you to those parents who attended PT interviews in week 9, it was encouraging to hear so many of you acknowledge the importance of Homeroom as playing an imperative role in the holistic growth and development of students.

Mt Victoria students on a Geography Excursion to Wattamolla on Friday 20th March. They did bush walks and beach walks and learnt about preserving those environments.

Melanie’s Clock – DT Pre-Liminary Assessment Task:

Melanie has been working hard to learn how to use the Laser Printer and pour Epoxy. Her beautiful design is reminiscent of a lazy creek meandering through the hills. Many thanks to Ryland who gave up some time to support and assist her and teach us both more about how to use Epoxy and to Mr. Jackson who supported our use of the Laser Printer.

Year 7 have been learning how to make Focaccia this term with delicious results.

Year 8 have moved onto their second Food Technology Assignment with students really enjoying the flavours of Feast! So far, they have created a delicious oven baked vegie Omelette and Spaghetti Bolognaise – both meals they could practice cooking for their families over the holidays.

Stage 5 Food Tech classes have been making beautiful Gourmet Hampers this term for their Assessment Task. They began by learning how to preserve food. Students then selected a theme to explore in pairs or by themselves. They used this theme to create their hamper. Duke’s theme was Aussie Outback, and he created sauces to go with food you might take camping as well as some preserved veggies. Zaria and Tiffani selected the theme Italy, and their hamper really takes you straight to an Italian seaside village. Lydia, Elke and Victoria selected the theme of Autumn and explored how they could preserve pumpkins, pear jam, cook caramelized onion and make tomato sauce. Capri and Adelaide investigated what they could do with lemons and it seems like they could do a lot! Lemon Curd, lemon salt, lemon melting moments.

On 22 May, all students at OneSchool Global will take part in Mission Nutrition, a full day wellbeing event delivered across all campuses worldwide.

Mission Nutrition helps students understand how food and hydration support energy, focus, health, and learning. The day is interactive and age appropriate, with students working through guided activities led by their teachers.

This is not a normal school day. Students will take part in hands on learning designed to build practical skills they can use at school and at home.

Mission Nutrition is part of OneSchool Global’s focus on student wellbeing and life skills learning.

On Monday we activated our Emergency Use of Public Transportation plan due to the roads to Lithgow being closed. Our Lithgow students walked with staff to the train station, where two van drivers met them for a train ride home. The students met all expectations and were great ambassadors for OSG.

We ask parents to do the following if you have not already, so we are prepared in the event this is required in future. If you have any questions or feedback please reach out!

Be in touch with transport coordinators (Dan/Lisa and Josie/Mike) if you are a volunteer driver on days where this may be actioned, such as road closure or snow/ice.

Speak with your children regularly about safety and respect when using public transportation.

Mrs Rushworth has been spending time tidying up the school garden, it looks great and we thank her for all her efforts in maintaining it 🌱🥕

THANK YOU to Amy Stewart, who came on Friday and prepared a sausage sizzle for all students, and popcorn and hot chocolate for the primary kids! In the words of one of our Year 3s: This should be called Fun Friday from now on!
