3/4 Gold Update
3/4 Gold working on their Bee models.
3/4 Teal Update
This term, Year 3/4 Teal have been putting their thinking caps on during Friday mathematics lessons, working through APSMO activities and contest papers. APSMO (Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiads) challenges students to apply logic, reasoning and creative problem-solving to tackle questions that go beyond everyday classroom maths.
In Week 3, students were split into small groups to work through a range of problem-solving questions together. It was wonderful to see the students collaborating so effectively — sharing strategies, discussing different approaches, and supporting one another to work towards solutions. Their perseverance and teamwork were a real highlight of the session.
Well done, Year 3/4 Teal, on your fantastic problem-solving efforts!
5/6C Update
Throughout the process of design and making, the student's first challenge was to construct a prototype of an Automata based around the topic- bees. A prototype is a quick test model that helps you try your idea before building the final version.
Good designers make prototypes because they help find problems early.
Automata are moving models or mechanical toys. They use simple parts to make something move. An Automata can spin around, bounce up and down, move side to side or tell a story through movement.
The photos show students working on developing their cam, follower, axle and box designs to test and refine. A Cam is a spinning shape that creates movement. A Follower is the part that moves when the cam spins. An Axle is a rod that helps parts turn.

7/8 Homeroom
In Homeroom Team Building sessions, which we complete on a Wednesday morning, students are working toward a Red Chair. This is where, after establishing groundrules, students are given positive and constructive feedback. This week we tried a pink chair as an introduction. A Pink Chair is where positive feedback only is offered by other students. Thank you to Oakley who participated first and received some lovely feedback from his peers.
Tomorrow we will be completing an Assignment on AI for periods 1-4. AI is an important tool for students to understand and learn about with the aim that they can use it appropriately to support their learning.
Year 8 Science News
Year 8 were given an assessment task to create a model of a cell. Their work reached an excellent standard as seen in these photos.
9/10 Homeroom
9/10 have been working well this past fortnight. As HR teacher it has been pleasing to have fellow staff members comment on students diligence during lessons, behaviour and sportsmanship on the field during Sport.
AI day was a big success in periods 1-4 today. Students were engaged and interested in the content and worked together in teams and individually to present a portfolio of learning in year 9 and group presentation of learning in year 10. Students found the AI modules relatable, helpful and detailed. Fun was had by all, teacher included!
11/12 Homeroom
Year 12 will be starting their trial HSC exams next week. I have reminded them that now should be a time to be putting in maximum effort in preparing for exams. I suggest that doing past exam papers is the best preparation. Our brains better remember things when we force ourselves to recall information. Simply reading our class notes or a textbook is not as effective.
Year 11, along with years 7-10, will be doing an “AI day” on Friday 14th August. This course help students to use artificial intelligence with responsibility and a skepticism about its outputs. AI is a useful tool, but it should not replace human judgement, and should definitely not get in the way of students’ learning.
Day of AI
Students across Years 7-11 at OneSchool Global campuses participated in a special training today to develop foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI). They learned to describe what AI is, they explored its history and evolution, and they learning to identify where AI is used in daily life. Each student was given opportunity to reflect how they personally interact with AI technologies.
Feedback from students about the day was positive – it was a valuable experience and they are thankful to OSG for investing time, and to Mrs. Molla, Mrs. Polster, Mr. McDonald, and Mr. Gorjan for facilitating the workshops.
Year 12 Legal Studies
Year 12 Legal Studies students travelled to Canberra yesterday to the High Court of Australia. It was a great day and very beneficial for the HSC trial exam next week.
🍉 Food Technology Update 🍜
Year 11 Food Technology made pancakes three ways this week 😊
⭐ Bought buttermilk
🍋 Lemon and milk to make buttermilk
⭐ Cream of Tartar and milk to make buttermilk
The students discovered that buttermilk has wonderful properties to tenderise chicken before cooking it, giving it that melt in the mouth texture.
The best pancakes were definitely the lemon and milk ones as the lemon acid did a magnificent job separating and curdling the fats in the milk which in turn gave the pancakes a light airy feel.
This is part of a broader investigation into the functional properties of Lipids (fats and oils).
Year 9/10 Food Technology are learning about On-Trend foods. This week the focus was Korean foods with some students cooking Korean Spicey Sticky Chicken while others made Korean Bulgogi Beef Bowls. Both dishes were delicious and the students did a magnificent job. In the next few wekks student swill be creating their own On-Trend Pop Up Restaurant.
Year 8 Food Technology are learning about healthy, balanced meals in the Bento tradition following the principles of the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating.
