Dear Parents and Community,

Over the past fortnight, we have enjoyed several highlights across the campus. Our recent Regional Assembly recognised the achievement and dedication of our Year 11 and 12 students in OSG Accelerate. We are very proud of their efforts and consistency. A special congratulations to Indy Bowder, who was presented with a Gold Award. This is an outstanding accomplishment for this time of the school year.

We were pleased to welcome our local MP, John Barounis, to the campus. During his visit, he presented a generous gift to the school, an OSG-branded marquee, which was received by our Student Leadership Team. The visit was well received by students, with our primary cohort eagerly requesting additional handballs to be signed.

Our Year 8 students also represented the campus with enthusiasm during their trip to Brisbane for the Design Technology dragster competition. A special congratulations to Barcley Bowder for achieving the fastest time in the heats, an excellent result. Thank you also to Mr Muller for his support on the day.

Looking ahead, our Year 7–10 students will commence their regional exams next week. Students have been actively incorporating revision into their study plans as they continue their preparations. We wish them all the very best as they approach this important assessment period.

We are excited to celebrate some of our amazing learners this week!

Olivia has absolutely impressed us as our Typer of the Week, clocking up a huge 148 minutes of typing practice! Her dedication and persistence are truly paying off—what a fantastic effort!

Austin has been shining in Maths, winning our Timetable Game of the Week and earning the title of 3 and 6 Times Table Master! His quick thinking and strong recall are something to be very proud of.

A big congratulations to Iris, our Handwriter of the Week! Her neat, carefully presented work is a wonderful example of taking pride in presentation.

Finally, well done to Laice for her excellent effort with home reading. Her commitment to building her reading habits at home is fantastic to see—keep it up!

Throughout the year, OneSchool students can be awarded house points for exemplary behavior both in and outside the classroom. As students accumulate these house points they receive awards for different levels: Bronze 15 points, Silver 50 points, Gold 45 points and Platinum 60 points.

At the recent Regional Assembly, the names of the amazing students who have already achieved Gold Awards were published and Indy Bowder is one of these students!

Indy has received points from teachers from other campuses and from Maryborough teachers for qualities such as a positive attitude, diligence, care and compassion, being self-directed and a team player.

Congratulations Indy and keep up the great work!

Our students have been busy exploring the exciting world of Food Technology! Over the past sessions, they used their five senses—sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing—to investigate a range of new and familiar foods. It was wonderful to see their curiosity as they described textures, flavours, and appearances, and shared their thoughts with others.

Students also enjoyed some hands-on cooking experiences, where they worked with a variety of healthy ingredients. They practised important skills such as following instructions, preparing simple foods, and making thoughtful choices about what we eat to stay healthy.

It’s been a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, try new things, and develop a greater appreciation for healthy eating!

The Years 7-10 exam block dates have been changed to Tuesday 16 June – Friday 19 June inclusive, as in the revised timetable emailed to parents.

The Student Free Day for all students has also been changed to Friday 26 June.

Local MP John Barounis is no stranger to our Maryborough campus - and last week he came back, this time with a gift for our students: a custom OneSchool Global–branded marquee tent for the campus. John first visited after students Willow and Zari wrote to him about pedestrian safety on Nagel Street - a student-led initiative that reflects our Learning to Learn framework in action

He clearly hasn't forgotten the welcome, signing more handballs for our primary students and sharing that he "feels very happy" every time he visits. Thank you, John, for your ongoing support of our students and your encouragement of young people getting engaged in the issues they care about.
