Mission Nutrition – Mission Accomplished

On Friday 22 May 2026, every OneSchool Global (OSG) student across all campuses worldwide participated in a truly innovative, one-day global learning experience delivered simultaneously. The day centred on an immersive mission theme developed specifically for OSG students by nutrition specialist Caitlin Edmonds. Throughout the experience, students were challenged to think critically about their dietary choices, collaborate with their peers to design or reimagine healthy eating options, and act courageously by taking practical steps to fuel their bodies for effective learning, play, and growth.

Congratulations to all our Mission Teams who successfully completed the various challenges across the day. We were also incredibly fortunate to be one of only six campuses regionally selected to host a Global Communications Squadron, who documented the event. Year 7-11 Examinations

A busy week lies ahead as Semester 1 summative assessment tasks draw to a close in preparation for the mid-year academic reports. From Tuesday 16 June to Friday 19 June, students in Years 7–11 will undertake their examination period, providing an important opportunity to demonstrate their learning across the semester. Staying organised, booking Tutorials as needed, setting clear goals and sticking to their daily planner will allow students to best utilise the Study in order to prepare effectively. We encourage all students to maintain consistent study routines, arrive well-prepared for each exam, and take care of their wellbeing through good sleep, nutrition, regular exercise. We wish all students the very best as they approach this important milestone in their academic journey.

Primary LC Building works progressing despite wet weather.

Despite a wet week, we are still well on schedule for unveiling the brand new Primary Learning Centre in Semester 2. Stay tuned for further updates we are excited to invite our parents and community in to experience the new build and launch an exciting new chapter in the Learning to Learn journey for our primary students. Exciting times ahead for our primary staff, students, parents and community, brick by brick the new building is really coming along, we are optimistic that in the next fortnight we will be ready to take our first walk through and begin to plan and install the internal fit out and fixtures. Regional Assembly

Term 2 Regional Assembly, last week the Maitland community gathered to celebrate a variety of student achievements form a busy and exciting Term 2. OSG Regional Assemblies provide a unique opportunity for students across campus across the country to pause, connect and celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions from the Broader OSG Community. A special congratulations to Ms Evenden’s Year 8 English Class; Lorent Fooks, Charles McAlpin, Claudia Bird and Ava Hattingh for their “Guardians of the Green” Sustainability Campaign which took out 3rd place. Congratulations also to Mabel Henderson who took out the 1st place prize for her History Mini-Museum project on the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Well done to all of our primary students for their creativity and initiative in developing their mini museums, I was blown away by the effort, endeavour and imagination on display.

PRIMARY TERM 2 WEEK 6

Primary Lunch League

Hello Parents, this is the start of a footy competition for all primary boys on a Tuesday lunch from years 3-6. There are 2 teams, Rhinos and Snakes the first game was won by Snakes only by one try! The captain for the Rhinos is Henry Bird and the captain for the Snakes is Xavier Sture. The game was refereed by Mrs. Powell, a great Ref by the way. But the first game was very muddy sorry if some of the boys come home with muddy shirts and pants but that’s just boys and footy for you. Hopefully the weather will clear up soon. The score of this first match was 4 tries to three with Snakes coming out on top after a try in the final seconds of the game by Xavier.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM WEEKS 5 & 6

SLT TERM 2 WEEK 6

For the second year running, we were proud to offer our Year 12 students the opportunity to participate in Mock Interviews with local business representatives. This initiative has a multi-layered purpose. It provides students with a valuable introduction to interview techniques while supporting them to develop confidence, professionalism, and familiarity with the interview process. Students also receive targeted feedback on both their interview performance and their resumes, allowing for meaningful reflection and growth.

A key focus of the program is reinforcing the core skills expected of OneSchool students. Our interview panel explored how students manage their time, prioritise tasks, and demonstrate the capabilities developed through the OSGAccelerate Program. These authentic conversations provided students with valuable insights into employer expectations and workplace readiness.

This year, in response to feedback from our previous cohort, we introduced an additional element. Students were required to prepare for an interview specific to the business of their allocated community representative. This provided an added level of challenge, requiring students to conduct due diligence by researching the organisation, and tailor their responses and resumes accordingly.

Feedback from both our business representatives and Year 12 students has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the impact and value of this experience.

We extend our sincere thanks to Glen and Allister for supporting our first round of interviews. We look forward to completing the process next week and continuing to refine and grow this highly beneficial initiative.

In Term One, Year 8 English students worked collaboratively to develop a persuasive media campaign on an issue of sustainability. Campuses all across the region submitted entries to the Year 8 Regional Media Campaign Challenge. These entries were independently judged on various persuasive elements that addressed the Big Question for this Assignment: How Does Language Inspire Action?

Maitland students produced some excellent media campaigns that explored the sustainability of several threatened animal species. A documentary created by Claudia Bird, Ava Hattingh, Lorant Fooks and Charles McAlpin, titled ‘Guardians of the Green’ highlighted the devastating loss of green vegetation across the world.

This group’s campaign represented Maitland Campus in the Regional Media Campaign Competition and impressed the judges enough to finish in third place out of many entries across the entire region. This exciting outcome was announced at the Regional Assembly last Thursday and is an outstanding result for these students, reflecting the time and effort they put into producing an effective campaign that highlighted an important issue.

These students should be incredibly proud of their hard work and we would like to congratulate them on this significant achievement.

Congratulations to all of our Age Champions from last term’s Athletics Carnival. This achievement is a wonderful recognition of your dedication, determination, and outstanding sporting performances throughout the day.

Mission Nutrition a Great Success

Our Mission Nutrition Day was a wonderful success, providing students with valuable opportunities to learn about healthy eating, nutrition and making positive lifestyle choices. Throughout the program students enthusiastically participated in a range of engaging activities that encouraged them to explore the importance of balanced diets and healthy habits.

The program not only helped students develop a greater understanding of nutrition but also inspired them to make informed choices that support their wellbeing. It was fantastic to see such high levels of participation, curiosity and enjoyment from everyone involved.

A sincere thank you to all staff, students, Parents and volunteers who contributed to the success of Mission Nutrition. Your enthusiasm and commitment helped make this initiative both educational and enjoyable for our school community.
