Thank you all for a busy and vibrant start to 2026. In particular, it has been wonderful getting to know our new Year 3 students and welcoming new families to our campus. We have also greatly enjoyed hosting visiting students from OSG campuses across New South Wales and Australia. Thank you to our students for being such great hosts and wonderful ambassadors for our campus.

Congratulations to every student for the positive contribution you have made to our campus — you should be very proud of your efforts. A special mention to our Student Leadership Team, who continue to redefine what success looks like at our school. Through their sense of pride, commitment to the OSG Student Personas, initiative and leadership, they are driving positive change and growth while creating a powerful legacy as role models for our younger students.

I look forward to Term 2 with great optimism and eager anticipation as the Primary Learning Centre capital works project continues to take shape. This exciting new chapter in Learning to Learn pedagogy for our primary students will further enhance teaching and learning across the campus. The completion of this project in early Term 3 will also enable the progression of several other initiatives, including a new canteen, specialist Food Technology teaching space, multi-purpose studio, and contemporary staff and community workspaces that support our strategic commitment to optimising our Ways of Working.

We wish all members of our community a happy, safe and relaxing holiday break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in Term 2, commencing Tuesday 28 April.

Athletics Carnival

A huge thank you to all of the parents, families, students and staff for making the journey to Tamworth for a very windy yet wildly exciting Athletics Carnival last week. Congratulations to our students for their endeavour, achievement, sense of fun and outstanding team spirit throughout the day.

Thank you to the parent volunteers who generously gave their time to support the carnival — whether by transporting students, cheering from the stands or supervising events. Your contributions played a vital role in making the day such a success. A special mention to Mrs Guyan, Mrs Ellis, Mrs Farr-Forrest, Mr Travers, Mrs Howel‑Jones and Mrs Booth from the Armidale campus for the many hours of meticulous planning and preparation leading up to the event. Our thanks also to Lead CAs Kelvin Willy and Trent Jensen for their leadership and coordination.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Armidale team for their outstanding hospitality and collaboration. Your generosity and support helped ensure a fun, inclusive and memorable experience for everyone involved.

Thank you also to our Maitland team for the work done behind the scenes to ensure the day ran so smoothly. Nothing beats seeing cross-campus collaboration and High Performing Teams in action — it certainly does not go unnoticed by our students and community.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to such a fantastic event. We look forward to returning the Maitland hospitality and doing it all again next year.

Our Term 1 Parent Pulse Check Survey highlights key achievements while reinforcing our commitment to continual improvement as a school that truly thrives on feedback. Parents have recognised that our campus upgrades and new uniform are positively shaping student experience, culture, pride and academic expectations, supported by strong relationships, visible leadership and responsive staff. Guided by this feedback, our next steps will focus on clearer communication, stronger parent partnerships and an increased emphasis on student safety, wellbeing and fairness through consistent behaviour expectations aligned with our School Values. These insights continue to shape our Parent Engagement Strategic Plan as we build on our strengths and continue to grow as an exceptional campus where each student is known, valued and supported to achieve his or her personal best.

Fall MAP Growth and Achievement

We are pleased to celebrate some positive MAP Achievement results this testing cycle. An impressive 62% of students exceeded the mean for their age and stage, and 45% of students met or exceeded their individual growth targets. In our previous newsletter, we celebrated the list of students who improved on all three tests or who increased significantly by +10 RIT points from their previous score. These outcomes indicate that we are well on track to achieve our campus target of 55% growth in the Spring testing cycle in Term 3.

PRIMARY WEEK 10 TERM 1

On Tuesday, 31 March, our Regional Principal Travis Hopgood visited the campus. During his time here, he enjoyed a friendly discussion with several of our primary students, as captured in the photo below.

The Primary L2L Skills Workshops are designed to equip students with essential learning‑to‑learn skills that support success across all areas of learning. Through a series of engaging, age‑appropriate workshops, students develop confidence in planning, communication, collaboration, creativity and reflection.

The workshops empower students to take greater ownership of their learning, organise their time and resources effectively, communicate their thinking clearly, work productively with others, and reflect on progress to set meaningful goals.

Together, these skills build strong foundations for self-directed learning and prepare students for future learning both within and beyond the Primary years.

Last week, staff and students from Armidale and Maitland campuses came together in Tamworth for our annual Athletics Carnival. While the weather was certainly chilly, it did little to dampen spirits, with the day filled with great competition, enthusiasm, and strong campus pride. Despite the cooler conditions, it was a fantastic day enjoyed by all who attended.

81 points —highlighting how competitive the carnival was across both campuses. Well done to all students for their outstanding efforts and sportsmanship.

Congratulations to Bears, who finished in 1st place with an impressive 591 points. Lions followed closely in 2nd place on 415 points, while Mustangs secured 3rd place with 374 points. Well done to all students for their commitment, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Maitland Campus, were crowned overall winners of the Campus Cup after an incredibly close contest. Maitland secured victory by the narrowest of margins—just 0.81 points —highlighting how competitive the carnival was across both campuses. Well done to all students for their outstanding efforts and sportsmanship.
