Dear Illawarra Community,
Welcome Back
It has been encouraging to see students return this term and quickly re‑establish strong routines and purposeful learning across the campus. This term, we are refocusing strongly on students’ work in the Learning Centres, with a clear emphasis on building effective learning behaviours.
Across all three Learning Centres:
- Teachers and CSSA staff are actively coaching students during study periods
- Support is intentionally moving beyond answer‑giving
- Students are being encouraged to think deeply, explain their reasoning, and make their learning visible
This consistent approach supports deeper understanding and long‑term learning habits aligned to the L2L Framework.
Campus Priorities and Events
OSG Aware, supporting safe, respectful and responsible behaviour is being held this term, with sessions at Goulburn campus completed on 7th May, and second sessions at Illawarra later this term.
Community events: Mother’s Day Breakfast and Primary Book Fair were held this week on 8th May, it was great to see mums onsite and be able to recognise and celebrate the hard work you put in to support family.
Senior Study Sessions have recommenced, with catered sessions to resume in coming weeks.
Upcoming dates:
- Year 7 & 10 Immunisation Clinic – 14 May
- Regional Term 2 Assembly – 15 May
- Mission Nutrition – 22 May

Sector Engagement
It was my pleasure to represent OSG NSW at the Independent Schools NSW AGM, where NSW Premier Chris Minns highlighted strong educational outcomes as a focus, and articulated the importance of AI literacy and a collaborative focus to ensure emerging technologies are used to enhance teaching, learning and wellbeing —closely aligning with our work at OneSchool Global.
Staffing Updates
We will soon farewell Mrs Lardner, who commences maternity leave after 22 May, and we wish her all the very best.
During Mrs Lardner’s leave, Miss Pickles will take on the Year 10 homeroom, supported by some remote teachers; further details will follow once timetabling is finalised.
We warmly welcome Mrs Jess Harris, who has commenced teaching Year 4.
Uniforms and Personal Items
Thank you to parents for your efforts with school photos and uniform presentation. This was greatly appreciated. We ask families to continue encouraging students at all stages to wear their uniform well every day. Some students require frequent reminders to keep shirts tucked in throughout the day.
We are also noticing increased use of spray deodorants in Secondary. To respect shared spaces, families are asked to supply roll‑on deodorant and encourage application in bathroom areas only. Staff are supporting students to adhere to these protocols.
Personal devices reminder
Mobile phones, smartwatches and cameras are not permitted at school and may be confiscated in line with global policy if found.
Kind regards,
Mr Warne
