Primary spotlight

National Simultaneous Storytime

Our students recently took part in National Simultaneous Storytime, a really lovely shared reading experience across the country. Mrs Diprose read Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson, Adriana Lloyd and Jack A. Minton, which the students thoroughly enjoyed.

The story is an inspiring underdog tale of courage, perseverance and determination, and it sparked some great conversations about believing in yourself and sticking with your goals, even when things feel challenging.

It was fantastic to see everyone so engaged and enjoying the story together. A big thank you to Mrs Diprose for running such a meaningful and enjoyable session.

Sovereign Hill

The Primary team recently enjoyed a wonderful excursion to Sovereign Hill, where students stepped back in time to experience life during the gold rush.

Throughout the day, students explored the historic township and learnt about what life was like for miners, shopkeepers, and families in the 1800s. They had the chance to pan for gold, watch demonstrations, and walk through the streets, which really helped bring their learning to life in a hands-on and engaging way.

It was great to see students so involved, asking thoughtful questions and making connections to what they’ve been learning in class. The experience supported our History studies and gave students a deeper understanding of Australia’s past.

A special thank you to our bus drivers — Rina Urquhart, Kelvin Urquhart, Tracey Thomas, Lyn Urquhart, Naomi Richardson and Jenny McWhirter — for getting us there safely, as well as to all the parents and staff who helped make the day such a fantastic experience.

Overall, it was a fantastic day for the Primary team, filled with curiosity, learning, and lots of memorable moments.

Year 12 Excursion to William Angliss and Brunettis

The Year 12 Food Studies students enjoyed an immersive and hands‑on excursion in Melbourne on May 18th, beginning their day at William Angliss Institute. Students completed a short barista course where they learnt the craft of preparing a range of black coffees, including espresso, long black and macchiato. They then moved on to milk‑based beverages, practising techniques for frothing milk and creating cappuccinos, hot chocolates, and mochas.

In the afternoon, students visited Brunetti Classico in Carlton for a behind‑the‑scenes tour. They explored the history of the iconic Italian Pasticceria, observed the operations taking place in the production areas, and of course enjoyed sampling a selection of Brunetti’s famous Italian treats.

The excursion offered students valuable industry insights, practical skill development, and a delicious taste of Melbourne’s hospitality scene.
