Update from the Campus Principal

The past few weeks have been relatively quiet, allowing the students to build routines and get on top of their Assignments.

NAPLAN

Next week Years Three, Five, Seven and Nine will participate in NAPLAN Testing.

This is a snapshot in the learning of the students and is really important data that can inform trends in cohorts. Before any testing, it is important that the students are well rested and positive going into the exams to ensure best mindset going in. Good luck to all students with their testing next week. Students will need to have working headphones at school with them If they use Bluetooth headphones, please ensure they are charged.

Wellbeing

There is a major focus on Positive Incidents at the Campus to continue to build on a positive vibe within the school. Although we had a dive in positive incidents in Week Five, the SLT started Week Six with motivation and we saw a huge increase in Week Six.

Week 5:

Positive: 89

Negative: 8

Week 6:

Positive: 342

Negative: 0

Tutorial Bookings

This is another major focus for the campus and the SLT are driving this for success. The data for the past two weeks is very pleasing with huge uptake from the students and staff. Can I please ask parents to keep encouraging the students to book Tutorials as they are so important for building rapport with the teachers but also will directly relate to academic success.

ICT Reminder

We have had a revision of the ICT Policy, and I would like to simplify it as it is a long document. The full document is attached but the main points I would like to reinforce are listed below. Please can I ask parents to support the school in reminding the students of these expectations. These expectations are in place to keep our students safe.

Student mobile phones are not permitted at School or on School transport.

Wearable technology, such as Smartwatches and Fitness Trackers, are not permitted at School or on School transport.

A personal camera can only be brought to School for learning purposes by prior arrangement with Campus Management.

Stage 2-3 Cross Curricular

Students participated in this lesson to further develop their knowledge of each level of government and what services they provide Australians. They labelled each side of the Diorama with a level of government which also had the responsibilities on it. This created a visual learning opportunity for students to build upon their knowledge of Parliament.

Ms Megan Evans

This is our Diorama - it shows three levels of Government - local, state and federal. Each levels shows a small amount of information about what they do.

Henrik and Charlton

Our diorama shows three levels of Government – local, state and federal. There are six roles and responsibilities that each level of Government look after.

Sasha and Bonita (Acacia and Vera)

These represent the three levels of Government.

Violette

Ours is still a work in progress. This represents the roles and responsibilities of the Australian Government.

Secondary Science

Week 5 - Year 9 are testing properties of light waves and investigating law of refraction. Students planned an investigation to figure out how light bends when travelling from one medium to another. Using different objects of different shapes made of the same material we calculated angle of refraction to prove our hypothesis.

Year 10 are working on elements of the periodic table. We tested metal salts of different elements to see if we can determine the metals by different flame colours given by the electronic components. Based on electronic configuration, colour of flame is different.

Certificate III in Business: A Key Part of Year 10 at OSG

At OneSchool Global AU, all Year 10 students complete the Certificate III in Business as part of their curriculum. This qualification equips students with prac Certificate III in Business: A Key Part of Year 10 at OSGtical skills in administration, communication, and workplace technology - essential tools for success in senior study, part-time work, and future careers.

Completing the Certificate III in Business helps students develop confidence, organisation, and a professional mindset. It provides a real-world context for learning and gives every student a head start in understanding the business world.

We are proud to offer this program as a core part of Year 10, ensuring all students gain these valuable skills and are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond. Students who complete all requirements will be awarded the national qualification - Certificate III in Business. Students who are only able to complete part of the qualification will still receive a statement of attainment, providing credit for the units they do achieve.

Your encouragement at home can make a real difference. We encourage parents to support their young person by discussing their learning, celebrating achievements, and encouraging them to apply the skills they are developing. Together, we can help every student succeed and make the most of this valuable qualification.
